1. Earlier in the week, ESPN had a poll on their website asking fans if their favorite team had won a Super Bowl in their lifetime. 45% said no. As tough as this loss is, we still have 3 titles in the last decade. Many fans out there are still hoping for #1, and some fans know that it probably won't be coming anytime soon.

2. I was texting a friend of mine (a Redskins and Texans fan) at times during the game. When the Giants got into FG range, he text me saying he can't even remember what it must feel like for me at that moment, his skins haven't been in the Super Bowl for 20 years. That's something to think about. 20 years without getting to enjoy the big game, and he's not nearly as bad off as other fanbases. We've enjoyed it 5 times this decade. Let's also not forget how his Texans looked like they could be a dangerous team before injuries had them limping into the playoffs with a slowed Andre Johnson and 3rd string rookie QB.

3. I'm sure this has been mentioned many times already but I'll say it again: this wasn't a team on its "last hurrah." Getting back to the Super Bowl will certainly be difficult, and there's no guarantee we'll make it back. However, this team is capable. It's not an old team. It's not a team packed with free agents and no cap space. We have the money to re-sign key players and bring in more. We have the draft picks to find players that can help us going forward. Whether we get back or not isn't the issue. It's simply nice to know that this wasn't our one and only chance.

I don't feel any better. Nice try though:mad:

I do appreciate you trying though!

Actually thinking of all that did help me last night. Especially when I saw the other thread about how heartbreaking the last few years were for pats fans, I just took a second to think about it and I was like damn we got it good if these are 'down years'.

The only thing that bothers me is watching haters get to celebrate our anguish, some of the comments are just overboard and disturbing. BB, Brady, and company deserve better. That's all that really kept bothering me. Overall I'm extremely thankful to be a fan of this team and yes, we will be back we'll live to see another day

1 and 2 are similar in its message: we're blessed to have witnessed the success we've had under Kraft's ownership. I don't think that message is lost on most of us here.

3 just rings a bit hollow, given the Pats have allowed the Giants to simply own them each of the two SB appearances (doesn't matter that both were closely contested, Giants fans have the bragging rights forever and it makes me sick). I don't know why, just once, the Pats can't stop playing down to the level of their SB opponent, and just dominate. Or make a stop or make a conversion when the chance to seal the game presents itself. Just once I'd like a "boring" SB with no late game drama, where Brady can pull a Montana and light up a SB foe like the 49ers have done on multiple occasions. For such a dominant franchise in the free agent era, why can't our team dominate on the biggest stage of them all?

I appreciate the OP's efforts here though. Some perspective is needed at times like this, but there's nothing wrong for lamenting a golden opportunity squandered. It's a long wait between Super Bowls, with no promise of ever getting there. Life is short, and NFL careers even shorter.

After all this I just have to say: I finally know how a Yankess fan felt when their team lost in the playoffs every year.....how they felt about Jeter getting older is exactly how we are feeling now about Brady's career...and both teams are heavily hated outside of their fan bases...I know it must be hard for a lot of red sox fans here to feel anything for the yankees, but it is what it is...

Agreed on all counts. Collinsworth asked Brady about all the hate and he said basically "I hope people see that we go about things the right way." It's a shame camera-gate or whatever obscures all that is good about this organization in so many (feeble) minds.

Oh, and since the thread title is about things to make Pats fans feel better, maybe this will work just a little for at least the male fans here. (Just tell yourself it's a "Patriots colored" bikini.) Nice job representing by Maria M.

Giants celebrate, Tisch jabs “Brady Bunch” and “America’s Team” | ProFootballTalk

People like this are not supposed to win. This does not make sense to me. Never seen this outliner before. The p-value must be very small and level of significance extremely high. Never seen this in my entire 35 years of existence.
You talk this way, you lose.
This game has shaken my foundation in sports lol.

I learned starting February 2008 that there's no such thing as "fair" and everything that's happened since then further cements that.

We know our owner is above that type of trash talk but he doesn't get to celebrate today. We're living in a world where the Patriots are the world's most hated where people will take jabs whenever they can, even people who are supposed to conduct themselves as professionals. I've never seen anything like it.

So, these are the guys Breer tweeted thanks to for being so classy at all levels of the organization, eh?

Success like the Patriots organization has enjoyed over the past decade brings out the worst in people. Call it envy. It's part of today's culture decay and political correctness.

You look back into the 50's and 60's and football was a game that was enjoyed and discussed at length by intelligent fans. Fans would wish they had a team like the Packers or Steelers or even a QB like Johnny Unitas. They watched the game and if their team won or lost, there were no riots, destruction, etc. Football has come to mean way too much to alot of people, many of which can't even name the players on their own team.

IT'S ONLY A GAME people !!

Chill.....

Peace :rocker:

GAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! WE WERE SO CLOSE!

Gronk got hurt on that freak play. He's our best offensive weapon! Giants fumbled the ball three times and we recover none of them! Brady underthrew Gronk on that deep ball! Welker dropped that pass! Gronk was 2 feet away from catching that deflected hail mary!

:bricks:
