Is Gronkowski the best offensive player (non-QB) in the NFL?

Well, you saw the difference in the offense without him being 100%, and I posted earlier this year that Gronkowski's presence is as important, if not more, as '07 Moss in terms of opening up the game for other players.

Jimmy Graham was not too far removed from Gronk statistically, but that offense ran through Darren Sproles and Graham isn't half the blocker that Gronk is. Calvin Johnson is obviously a complete beast who is virtually impossible to stop. Although he doesn't bring to the line of scrimmage the same types of problems as Gronk, it's hard to argue against Megatron.

There are also a few running backs with great versatility like Foster, McCoy, and Rice. Mike Wallace gets an honorable mention for becoming a more complete receiver, but he's not as valuable as these others.

But in the end, I think it has to be between Gronk and Calvin Johnson. Who would you take if you could have either one of them?

Better the GRONK you have. . . . :D

I'd put Calvin Johnson over him. Larry Fitzgerald too. And, a healthy Andre Johnson. Not sure how Johnson comes back from hammy or Gronk from ankle for that matter. Another guy to consider is Lesaun McCoy. He might be the best dual threat run/receive in the league. I'd prob take Gronk. But, some teams might prefer the rb.

Rob Gronkowski : great hands, good speed, great power, and great on yards

after the catch.

If he keeps this up and stay healthy, he may end up having a better career

than Shannon Sharpe and Tony Gonzalez. IMO.

Gronk or Calvin is about right and its not even close. No way is 2011 andre johnson anywhere near the best few players anymore. Stick a fork in him

Actually, that reminds me of something: Over the weekend at some point, I saw Ditka make a reference to Gronkowski, and how he'll have a nice career — if he learns to go down so he doesn't get hurt. Anybody see that? I'm wondering what some of our experts think he means and what they think of that.

I thought of the play in '10 pre-season when Gronk dragged Laurenitas into the end by the ankle, and I remember thinking then he's setting himself up for a big pop on a play like that. (I think I even posted that here at the time). But on the Pollard tackle -- I mean, do you learn to go down on your own terms in that situation, for your own longterm health? Is it like when guys like Welker, Branch and Moss hit the ground when they're being swarmed in the middle of the field? Anyone?

It would be Gronk or Megatron. As it stands, I would lean toward Johnson as he's performed to a high level for a long time.

Yeah I'd say Megatron is.

Both of them change the game, albeit in different ways; I think GRONK helps the Pats as much as, if not more than, Megatron helps the Lions. After all, the Pats use GRONK 95% of the time.

No

........

Gronkowski looks world's better with Tom Brady as his QB. Who wouldn't? OK, Ochocinco didn't.

...so it's hard to tell. I wouldn't say he's the best offensive non-QB player. Can he be put in that conversation? Sure, why not? For this year, anyway. Kid's a beast, and he grew up right around the corner from me, really.
