What did you think of his rookie year?

I think he showed flashes of being a really good tackle. I think the scouting report when he was drafted by Kiper and those guys was 100% spot on- he needs to get stronger. Hopefully he get some good hours in the weight room this off season and get those calories in and bulk up some more, cos there were times where he was just over powered.

I would grade him a B

Without the benefit of off-season training, camp, or "voluntary" workouts, I thought he did a great job.

He was sometimes out-techniqued or tricked, but was never overpowered.

I give him an A+

given the lockout, and lack of rookie camps, he was outstanding

being overpowered was something people were expecting for him as a rookie. the guy does not have a ton ofe experience.

look at it this way.......a year in the strength and conditioning program and we have a more athletic version of tony boselli

REally stood out against Cameron Wake in week 1.

Has been real good in flashes.

HOpefully we don't see a sophomore slump from him next season.

good solid pick.

My expectations were realistic, and he exceeded them.. have to consider short TC, no OTA's and thrown into the fire.

Seemed to me he showed the type of excellent feet you want to see in a franchise-caliber LT (which, IMO, is his future role).

I guess he could always have a Butler/McCourty-esque sophomore regression, but he seems to be approaching home run status in my eyes.

bwith some additional strength, making running left something defender have to account for can kill alot of blind side pass rushers.

I thought it was great especially considering he is not a finished product. Stepped in at LT, RT, G, TE and really handled himself well for the most part.

Not sure any other 1st rd OL other than Tyron Smith and maybe pouncey contributed as much

B plus. Thought he represented himself pretty well this year, given the non existent off-season.

Yeah the game against Wake was outstanding, really surprising how he handled Wakes speed, struggled more against speed since however

B.

It's very hard to find a franchise LT.

The Patriots have been so lucky through the years, from Leon Gray to Brian Holloway to Bruce Armstrong to Matt Light, the team has protected its QBs. Very hard to do.

In terms of makeup (brains, athleticism, stature) this kid looks like he's going right into that Gray/Holloway/Armstrong/Light line.

I think the year he had would have been great even if he did have a training camp.
The only thing he could have done better was beat out Light. May have been slightly possible in a down year for Light...which this wasn't.

Solder was a solid draftee. The guy as a rookie was solid from the very beginning. Remember all the angst about him having to face Cameron Wake in the first game of the year, in Miami? He shut the guy down. He's a keeper.
