Bedard: Dont blame Welker, blame the pass

I'm glad someone with a wider audience is making that point, Welker has not made that type of catch consistently, he hasn't been asked to make such catches, those are the catches Larry Fitztgerald, D. Bowe are expected to make, not Wes Welker.

Chris Carter was on the radio and said that back shoulder catches are easier for taller WRs like the guys you mention and named one as the best in the NFL. Calvin Johnson?

He seemed to think that Welker has a harder time turning his hips FWIW.

I heard Brady might have shoulder surgery in the off season.

Some opposing fans say he isnt tough. Thats BS. He threw a block on the reverse.

I guess if he kept the injured shoulder, that would make him tough. Man , f*** all these people. F them. I'm tired of people spitting on our QB. Makes me sick. He's not perfect, but I'll take him over anyone on any day.

************ on a pogo stick.....can we just STOP.

It's over. Dissecting, laying blame, none of it changes a damn thing. Time to look ahead and quit agonizing over this bs.

We have some team needs and it's time to start worrying about those. The Superbowl is over and as I recall, the Pats weren't supposed to be there and oh, even though they were there by sheer luck, it wasn't supposed to be close.

Could Brady have made a better throw? Yes

Has Welker made that catch a number of times? Yes

Welker had both hands on the football.

If Wes Welker expects to get paid like Larry Fitzgerald he should be making those catches in the Super Bowl.

I'm not blaming Welker for the loss. But in my opinion he's more to blame for the drop then Brady. We've seen Welker fall straight back with the ball trapped to his chest dealing with the same exact throw. He decided this time to try and balance himself. He should've just trapped the ball and fell back like he usually does.

He isn't. Welker simply isn't that type of WR. I have seen him drop that type of pass and it isn't as if he gets those types of passes often. BB and Brady are responsible cos BB refused to get a legit WideOut

Yes, I'm sure that's exactly what happened. All these legit wideouts were banging down our door and BB said, "Begone! I REFUSE YOU!"

As for Welker, well, since he's a limited receiver, I certainly hope that reflects in his bargaining position. Because if he can't make catches that hit him on both hands, he better not expect elite money. Period.

I know.

In 2007 his ankle or foot was f***ed up. We didnt hear that he had off season surgery to repair the injury until months later. Brady or the Pats never use injuries as an excuse, they suck it up.

Brady is tough and a class act. He couldnt congratulate the Giants quick enough.

There have been many debate regarding this, but Welker is not Fitzgerald, he is not Calvin Johnson, he is a great receiver, he just is not a Larry Fitzgerald type. You cannot say if he wants to be paid Larry Fitzgerald money, than he should be making catches like Fitzgerald, because he is not the same type of player, they are build differently, different body types, the patriots does not think Welker is like Fitzgerald, that is why (as shown by the work that Bedard did), they don't use Welker like AZ use Fitzgerald, or Detroit use Megatron.

Just show them this anytime they bring it up.

I would say that Welker is a legit wideout. I wouldn't say he was Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is the prototype X receiver. So is Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, and MARQUES COLSTON.

I love Wes, but I'm starting to think that we would be better off long term by allowing Branch and Edelman to carry his role. Bring in Marques Colston or Brandon Lloyd and draft a young receiver.

Is Wes willing to stay for 4 or 5 million a year?? He was paid 2 Million this year. I don't know if you'd want to pay him much more than that based on is overall skill set.

The truth is sometimes you almost have to overpay. We could have drafted too.
We have been in need of a legit WideOut since Moss left. BB knew that which is why he got 85. At a point, we all knew Ocho wouldn't work yet he kept him.

Welker is an elite WR. Does Calvin Johnson do what Welker does? The man had 1500yrd and is a 100reception WR. If he doesn't deserve top $, then who does? He is the best Slot Receiver in the game

LOL.......both brady and welker tried their best. it didn't work out.

blame is useless unless it serves an upcoming opportunity

Wes deserves at least 7mil a year. Brandon Lloyd deserves about 5mil a year. We can afford both. I was optimistic about Edelman but he simply isn't as reliable as Welker. He is greater after the catch though.

I understand this.

Welker is an inside the numbers, shallow and intermediate option-- a slot receiver.

But he still needs to catch the ball if it hits both his hands. He said it himself that it's a catch he's made a 1000 times in his career.

He needs to be paid according to his skill set. He is a great player but he flubbed that pure and simple. Know one knows that better than him. It hit him on BOTH HANDS. You can't call yourself an elite anything if you can't make a catch that hits you on both hands.
