Doesn't even compare to 2007 Loss

Haven't read all the threads since the SB, but I'm guessing someone's already said this: This loss does not compare to how I felt after 2007. Not even close. After the 2007/8 SB loss I couldn't even watch sports stations/espn/nfl network for at least 6 months.

This loss sucks, but honestly I was kind of expecting it. Giants were the last team I wanted us to face in the SB. 1 hour after this loss I was over it. In my mind it was somewhat expected, and throughout the game I didn't feel confident with our winning. IMO if we ended up winning, we lucked out, cause lets face it, we were sucking on all cylinders.

That said, I don't think any loss in any sport will ever compare to how I felt after the 2007 SB. After that, its all.. meh.

So for those about to jump off a bridge... this ain't the time. 2007 was the time p

I don't completely agree.

This was an opportunity to avenge that loss in 2007, so I think it's equal.

Brady and Belichick have lost to Manning and Coughlin three times in a row in meaningful games.

Two of which were Super Bowls.

We may never play them again with Brady and Belichick.

History could argue that Manning and Coughlin are better than Brady and Belichick-- that they own us..

So for me there isn't much difference.

Sorry, unless we were stopping Eli/Coughlin from achieving the perfect season, there's no way we could "avenge" the loss in 2007. This was a regular superbowl in which one team did enough to win and the other team didn't. This loss does not come anywhere close to the loss in 2007.

TFB is still one of the best all time and BB is still one of the best all time. Winning or losing this SB did not change that.

However getting the Perfect season... that would have immortalized TB and BB and the Pats.

I'm still sad and ticked off, but the Debacle in the Desert was much worse.

Not only was the whole "19--0" thing not in play this time, but I feel that the better team won on Sunday, whereas four years ago I felt the Giants had played better that day but were not the better team.

Also, the role played by two instances where one team "made a play" (Manningham's catch) and the other team didn't (Welker's drop) brought to mind one of BB's favorite sayings about big games: "Usually, it's the team that makes a play that wins."

Finally, there were no flukes like the Velcro helmet. This was 60 minutes of football not circus acts.

I think it absolutely compares. I'm not saying it's any worse, but the two losses are now intertwined.

If we lost to the 49ers or Packers it wouldn't be as bad. But losing to the Giants twice after they ended the "perfect season" just adds salt to an old wound.

It's terrible to lose to the Giants again. Listening to some of these Giants fans. You would think these clowns were calling plays and gameplanning with Coughlin and Perry Fewell the last two weeks.

I think TB and BB feel the sting of it too...not to mention Mr. Kraft.

They'll do everything they can this offseason to get us in position to be playing the last game next year.

Well I think its the way you look at it. I am more surprised they lost this game than in 2007. In 2007, they weren't play well at all, and I knew it would take a miracle to win or just plain extraordinary effort. This year I really thought they would win. On paper, the game favored the Pats despite what the experts said. And in a way, that is how the game turned out too, but unfortunately they didn't put it away when they had chances and the Giants came back. I sort of feel they should have won this game even more so than the regular season one.

Having the dream of 19-0 being crushed was worse, I had friends wondering where I disappeared to for a couple of months. This one hurt too, we should have had them :bricks:. Haven't watched NFLN, ESPN or anything yet, but with the realization my boss is a Giants fan I'll have to face up to some kind of pain tomorrow. It's different, but still sucks.

Yeah they hate us, they aren't over the Pats beating them in the playoffs or them running over VY in 2006. They'll hate us again when we run over them this coming season. Which is funny for a fan base who can't stand one Manning but cheer on the other. Probably due to it being the only Manning they can beat. I have gotten to where I don't listen to 104.5 much anymore, a little of WUZ and 3HL, that's about it.

same here. I just found out 102.5 switched formats to all sports talk. Im going to head over there and check it out.

I know it is not my place to tell people who to root for, but when the Colts started winning with Manning so many Colts fans just started coming out of nowhere down here. The thing that I find interesting is fans who root for other SEC schools and will trash UT in a heartbeat will then go turn around and show their love for Manning very quickly, because of the SEC connection. I have no problem with them liking Manning at all. It's just the bandwagon fans who act like they are diehard Colts fans no matter who the QB is and if Manning were to switch teams, they would act like they were die hard fans of those teams as well. I feel if you are rooting for one player, in particually, let that be known and not try to come off as a die hard. They seem to be everywhere.

There is no reason I should hold my head low for losing a Super Bowl by 4 points. There was no revenge anyway and I never bought into the story to begin with. Completely different situations. The only thing that sucks is losing twice to the same team in the Super Bowl. But oh well, we helped a major underdog, Eli, gain some respect, which he deserved anyway. I don't feel that bad about it.

We were still the clear cut AFC Champion and somebody has to lose the Super Bowl. We lost a close one again but we still made the freaking Super Bowl for the 5th time in 11 years. It sucks, but I'm over it and excited to bounce back from it and see if we can do it again this year.

I have a feeling our players will bounce back from it much quicker this time around. The biggest mistake we made was being miserable in all this time span from 2008 until now and buying into ******ed myths, like one and done, and feeling shamed for what the media says about us, like cheating. It's also evident other teams are "cheating" too even in Super Bowls, we're not one and done in the playoffs, and the only thing I'm pissed about is that we were not the ones accused of it. We got soft. Time to get back to business.

The 2012 season is here. I have a great feeling the Patriots will be right in the mix of things at the end. I'll be surprised if the "Champs" make the playoffs this year looking at their schedule. The Redskins won't be scared of them. Neither will the Saints. And neither will we if we have to face them again.

I am still gutted, as is my girlfriend, but she couldn't work out why I was 'ok'.

My answer was simply 'after 2007, the hurt from that caused a lot of pain, and while painful, it's no where near for me!'

Ha, there is an active campaign going on down here to get Manning to TN since the Colts are gonna dump him. Colts games here used be turncoat central, gonna be funny when all those Colts jerseys are a rare sight in a few months.

all things considered, it's damned near identical

unless you want to get into all the intangibles. the most important similarity is that the pats did not get the bounces, but they did not play like they should have gotten the bounces.

end result is the same.......no other way to add it up

the finger pointing after the fact is a bit more disturbing this time.

it was good entertainment and will be so again next year

would you rather be reading about the jets issues like sanchez and holmes going to couples therapy????
