Free Agency: Who do you want?

Brandon Lloyd.

Any other help needed can be got through the draft/players returning off IR. I would also like to a see a change in defensive philosophy and have more attacking players on the DL who get into the backfield on a regular basis, give the secondary some help by actually creating consistent pressure.

Re-signing Anderson & Carter is a must.

Agreed on all counts, but Lloyd is a must....

Brady is one of the most inaccurate long ball throwers in the league. In fact, Brady has a limited repetoire of throws. There is the 15-20 yard seam. The 10 yard out, and various short routes over the middle. He does not throw a good deep ball, a good fade, or any other kind of pass that requires a lot of touch. What he can throw, he has tremendous accuracy with, but he is limited in some respects.

Kind of hard to throw fades when you dont have a WR over 6 feet. Put Fitz or CJ on this team and watch how good those fades would look.

Calais Campbell and resign our own Carter and Anderson.
Marques Colston would fit great here and gives us 3 tall receivers.

Campbell is probably going to be franchised.

Campbell is absolutely not hitting the open market. It's a shame though. He's a stud.

I'd prefer Marques Colston. He is 6'4", fast, good hands, proven deep threat (not just vertical) and is 28yrs old.

He would be our #1. Welker is #2.

I'd sign Lloyd as #3.

Imagine: Colston, Welker, Lloyd, Hern, Gonk.

BillB : It's time to spend the $$$, now!

No way do the Texans let him sniff free agency, but he would be epic. We'd see the Elephant role make a comeback. Our real issue is the lack of playmakers on defense. Mario Williams, or Mario Williams' left pinky toe, would change a lot of things in the trenches. We saw Vince get doubled all night long and Brandon Spikes was the only one who could consistently win his 1v1 matchup.

I'd say there's a greater than 50% chance Mario goes somewhere else. They have to resign Foster who is no doubt a bigger priority for the texans. Also, Mario has been injury prone for a couple years now, and they have played well defensively without him, if he wants to cash in, the texans might let him go

I believe Lloyd is on record saying he'll go anywhere McDaniels is coaching. He already knows the offense after being in it 2 or 3 years. Him on the outside with Gronk and Welker in the middle and maybe Hernandez on the other end...a real #1 WR would be awesome!

And signing Mario Williams just might make my head explode.

this is exactly what i'm talking about. weird stuff like this happens. even though the roster may be the same, injuries do occur and stuff like this for whatever reason always haunts the super bowl loser. look at pittsburgh from last year - still the same roster, but freak injuries to roethlisberger and other players really killed them.

9 and 7 teams don't win the SB either, oh wait

I don't get my hopes up for free agents coming here in the BB era, so if they actually do get someone good, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

But, yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

The Pats are healthy in cap room, probably close to 26-28 million going into next month.

Belichick is a student of the game and he knows what he needs to do to maximize trends and stay above water in off-season moves-- escpecially with this roster.

I fully expect him to "back up the Brink truck", as he would say, to pull in Mario Williams...The guy is a freak and will almost certainly be available based on the Texans cap structure and emergence of young players.

Williams looked fluid as a standup linebacker in the 3-4 dropping into coverage and bending the edge at 6'6 280 pounds, and 27 years old and we already know he's a great 4-3 end-- versatile, once every ten year freak with a good work ethic...Yeah, BB isn't going to pass that up.

I would hope that Marques Colston or Dwayne Bowe but that may be wishful thinking. I'll take Reggie Wayne or Brandon Lloyd for reasonable cost and draft Mohamed Sanu, or Alshon Jeffery.

I think the running game will be fine with Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley and Danny Woodhead.

I'll take Brent Grimes or Brandon Carr at CB if they become available...

But if we get Williams and sign Lloyd/Wayne...I'll be happy with us going into the draft.

So, when Mario goes on his annual IR vacation, we replace him with Ron Brace or the phantom FA pickup player #19 on the roster ?

Also, a little footnote that with that $26mill Cap room he has to sign Welker, BJGE, Koppen, Connolly, Carter, Anderson, other NEP FA's plus the 6 picks from Rd 1-3. So, let's pay Mario $22mill and implode like the Colts did this year after 1 key injury.

Think you better stick to Madden

Colston and Brandon Carr would make me very happy. Mario Williams too, but that's not likely.

How exactly do you see Williams costing 22 million against the 2012 cap?

Please Explain.

Mario Williams didn't miss a game from 2006- 2010.... 68 straight games before he went to IR this year.

What Mario Williams are you referring to?

No thank you to Wayne. No need to replicate the Ochocinco experiment.

Correct, after seeing what has happened to a number of vets who can't learn/play this system (remember Joey Galloway), I want a FA WR who can play this system and flourishes in it, that would be Brandon who had great productivity and loves McD, playing with K Orton he had 77 rec @ 18.3/rec. He can run the entire route tree and would be the perfect compliment to Welker, Gronk and AH.

realistically: Robert "Big Meach" Meacham, a safety with good range and Cliff Avril would make me a happy camper.

Here. got facts now, happy ? Franchose tag # is $22.9 actually ! Now I can guarantee BB norKraft are forking this over. GUARANTEE!

Ultimate Texans » McClain: Tough decisions await Texans

2010 - 13 games
2011 - 5 games

declining sack #'s since 2008. Declining tackle #'s since 2008. Declining FF #'s since 2008

He's not going to get his contract for what he did in the past or whether he played 68 consecutive games, it about whether he can stay healthy to live up to the next contract.

PS: This is the same problem for Lions with Megatron Calvin. His franchise tag #will be $22Mill. He would lose money to sign a long term deal, unless he get $140mill contract to blow past Fitzgerald's deal. Calvin is in the driver seat with all the leverage, just like Mario is.
