Another brutal loss just goes to show that the Patriots never should have won three out of four Super Bowls earlier in the decade.

The salary cap era promotes exactly what happened this year: a complete crap shoot come playoff time, with the Super Bowl coming down to a couple of big plays, and taking a lot of luck just to get there.

The Pats three Super Bowl wins were all by a field goal. There last two losses were by just about that margin.

The Giants went 9-7 during the regular season and had lots of flaws, but they are the champs. They are the third team in the last five years to win multiple road games just to make the Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals would have made four. The anomaly is now the team that finishes atop the league and holds on to win it all.

No team has even won two straight conference championships since the 2004 Patriots. That's a 12 teams that all came up short of even returning to the big game. You need to actually play in two straight Super Bowls before winning two straight, let alone three in a short amount of time.

You can say what you want about Brady and Montana, but these eras are completely different. Even if Brady plays as well as humanly possible, the Pats are not beating anyone 55-17 in the Super Bowl. Same goes for Belichick. While we hate to admit it, there was tons of luck involved in our previous SB victories, just as there was luck involved in these losses. 3-2 is better than 0-5 though, right?

Terrible post. There should have been a dynasty and there was.

If anything it shows just how damn impressive those three SB wins are. HELL YAH it's a DYNASTY.
