Brady is now 3-2 in the Super Bowl, which many consider the tiebreaker between these two great quarterbacks.

We don't know how many years Brady has left performing at a high level -- 3, 4, less, more?

It's obviously very difficult to even get to a Super Bowl, even with a good team, so his chances of winning another to tie Montana seem slim, let alone winning another after that to pass Montana's Super Bowl win total.

Will Brady pass Montana as the GOAT?

What does it matter if Brady passes montana or not. This fall under the heading of "states are for losers"

There's nobody I'd rather have as our QB than Tom Brady. All the Brady-Montana stuff is fun for discussion but there is no true measure of who is greater. Both are all-time greats and are very much in the same class.

Who is "greater" is a matter of opinion. That said, I would suspect that most people would still have Montana over Brady.

But who cares?

The only people talking about Brady and Montana in the same sentence still are you guys. That was Brady's shot and once again he choked on Eli's package. Stick a fork in the cheater.

First, it doesn't really matter. Who is the greatest is all a matter of opinion.

Second, after Elway won back to back Super Bowls and retired, there was a ton of sentiment that he was the greatest of all time. But Elway is 2-3 in the Super Bowl. Like Brady, Elway carried his team in years that they lost the Super Bowl and won the Super Bowl when he had a stellar cast around him on both sides of the ball. If Brady wins another Super Bowl or two, he will be considered the GOAT for at least a short period of time after he retires like Elway did.

Yet another loser from a 2-14 team who rags on a guy that constantly wins and goes to Super Bowls, just to make up for his QBs inadequacies, of which there are many.

These arguments are largely subjective, and it is difficult to compare the two situations.. Montana had Jerry Rice & Dwight Clark though his whole career. Brady has had a bunch of guys... there was no salary cap when Montana played.. on and on, oh never mind.

Brady is what he is, probably the greatest quarterback ever played in NE and will rank in the top QB's 5 all time..

The losses don't matter. It's the rings that matter. I'll never understand why Montana is credited for losing 3 championship games, but Brady is dissed for losing 2 Super Bowls.

To me, both are irrelevant. What matters is rings, and that's why Montana is ahead of him.

If he wins another, he's equaled Montana.

Why penalize Brady for winning more championship games than Montana did?

Makes no sense.

After hearing Irsey and his new GM speak i don't think anyones going to worry about the Dolts for a while, Stick a fork in them. Indy is a small market and if the team sucks they going to have a hard time selling tickets, maybe Irsey will move the team to LA in the dead of night.

1 more ring and he passes Montana. Regardless of how much he's disappointed since the 2007 AFCC(outside of 1 great performance vs. Denver), football has a short term memory. Another SB38/2004 postseason type performance and few will remember these struggles. 2 more rings and it's not even a debate.

I hope you get hit by a bus today.

Colts were terrible this year. Could be for the next few years. But today is a great day.

If you view the Super Bowl as the measuring stick of success, a final thesis if you would, then the loss puts Brady in a different category. It drops him to 3-2, into a group of QB's with multiple starts and multiple wins. He'll be at the front of the class with guys like Roger Staubach (2-2), Bob Griese (2-1), Ben Roethlisberger (2-1), Troy Aikman (3-0), Bart Starr and Jim Plunkett (2-0). I don't think anyone in their right mind would disagree with the statement that Brady is best of that group. Great still, HoF lock certainly, but not best ever.

That's an interesting post. Troy Aikman is obviously a great, HOF quarterback, but he sort of defines the second tier of all-time great quarterbacks, doesn't he? Still great company for Brady, though. :D

Different era. No FA back when he won those, its much harder to keep a team together now a days. After thinking about it i have to take this back. The Niners did win in the FA period except that the GM Eddie DeBartolo cheated, he wrote up the contracts to get around the salary cap. The Niners should have an asterisk next to some of those SB's. Although i'm not sure Montana was with the team at that time.

At least, Brady doesn't have to deal with the stupid Peyton comparisons since it is universally believed that Brady is clearly better than Peyton. I can handle Brady being #2 best of all time. You Colts fans will just have to accept that Peyton will always have to look up to Brady in every greatest QB of all time list.
