At first I felt like I'm NOT watching SportsCenter, I'm NOT watching any show where Eli gets the confetti, I'm NOT watching the replays... I remembered the painful sensation from 2007/8... but that's not happening.

I'm getting another feeling this year when I see those replays. I'm proud. Every replay of the drops, yeah, I'm heartbroken. Every shot of the Brady safety, I feel like, well that was the better part of a quarter of football we'll never get back. But most of that game was hard-fought, and nobody "owned" us in any phase of the game.

This wasn't a team that was supposed to be invincible. More than anything (other than heartache that it didn't go our way,) I'm proud.

That's what hurt in 2007/8, I think -- they "betrayed" the mission, in a way: they were supposed to be invincible. They'd been fading from the early-season invincibility toward the end of the run... they were out of gas and it finally showed in a big way in SB 42.

This team's been getting better all year, especially on defense. Nicks and Cruz and Manningham were supposedly going to torch us all day long. If you listened to the NY mediots, it wasn't just going to be a paper "upset" where the Gintz won despite being 2.5 point dogs, it was going to be "a long night" for NE, because the Pats just wouldn't be able to compete.

It was a great hard-fought game. Hats off to a very good Pats team that beat expectations. I'm not going to wallow in the what-ifs, and I'm not going to wallow in the film... but I can watch the replays of this one without going on official suicide watch.

A very different feeling from 08.

Anybody else get that?

No I am crazy bat shyt depressed, little sleep last night give it a couple of days though, my belief system will be restored.

I am proud of this team and what they accomplished this year though..

No ESPN or NFL network with all of their smug butt wipe comments about the Patriots.. that would only make it worse.

I blame GIsele Bundchen for the patriots losing this game. GIsele has weakened Tom Brady and made him a metrosexual phaggot. He used to be incredible. Gisele has made him weak. Before Gisele, he was a 3 time SB winner and MVP. Now, he has lost 2 in a row to freaking ELI MANNING. PEYTON'S KID BROTHER. WHAT THE HELL IS GIONG ON HERE FOLKS. THIS SUPER MODEL HAS WHIPPED OUR QB LIKE AGASSI GOT WHIPPED BY BROOKE SHIELDS!

I feel the same way - this is a pats team that went down swinging, and they should take pride in that. Unlike previous teams, I went to bed last night disappointed in the loss, but knowing that this team left it all out there on the field, and didn't have anything left to give. The patriots have built the foundation for an excellent team for years to come.

I'm with you. It's too soon for me. I will have these feelings, just gonna take a few days to come out.

Like just about any other tough loss, there are a whole host of single things that happened, and if any one of them were different, it could have changed the entire outcome:

Welker’s drop,
two fumbles that bounce to Giants teammates,
12 men on the field that negates a turnover,
Hernandez’s drop,
the opening safety,
Gronkowski’s ankle injury 2 weeks ago.

Oh well…

I am proud we fought hard and proud of the toughness and spirit of this team

Oh we got owned in one phase alright. Same phase as the first game. Special teams and turnovers. The safety might as well count as 2 turnovers.

I'm not going to go through the numbers because it takes a lot of time, but I don't even need to. In the first game our special teams and offense gave up 400 yards of field position in addition to the 438 our defense gave up. I don't know what this Super Bowl's ST numbers were, but they had to have been atrocious and even worse than that which was already terrible. Their punter destroyed us. We had the #2 ST in the league, except against the Giants game 1 and now Giants in the Super Bowl. I don't know how we lose this battle this badly twice in a row to these guys, but we did.

Other than that, yeah I agree. We played a great game and am very proud of Tom, O line, his receivers and this defense. And I honestly feel very confident about him and this offense going forward.

We need a top tier wideout and a back-up TE. Other than that, don't do anything different. We gotta get back our vertical threat though and it is obvious Wes, Branch, Ohco...are not those guys.

For the most part i agree, its the missed opportunities that bother me, we could have won that game, we almost did. But i don't feel at all like i did back in 07, simply because unlike '07 we weren't Suppose to win the game, and i didn't think we'ed make it to the SB with the Defense we had.

DING DING DING.....Troll.

I think we have to be proud that our team was one of the last two. We were better than 30 of the teams in the NFL. We had a great season filled with incredibly highs (demolishing the Jets in New Jersey, "wide left," and humiliating the Denver Tebows not once, but twice, to name just a few.

For me, it's just too soon to look back super-positively about this. To be so close. At least we lost to a great, respectable team. I don't like Eli Manning, but I think we can all admit he's good. And they play a likeable style of football too. But it's just too soon.

Give it a week or so, let all of the fairweather Giants fans (I live in CT so it's even worse here) go back to not giving a damn about the NFL, we'll get into negotiating with our own free agents and then eventually free agency, and soon the new (off)season will be upon us.

Let's not forget we had one of the best two teams in football this year, we've got some guys on the IR who will come back and help us, plenty of draft picks and an enviable cap position.

End rant.

losing is losing. i feel like sh!t no matter how they got there. there is no sugar coating it. and there are no moral victories.

This team had exceeded any expectation for this year. Yes, they lost but it was close and they just came up short on a few plays that could have turned the game around. Give the giants credit. They made all the hard plays when they needed too PLUS all thelucks with the penalties that negated their drive or turnover.

We need to put this into perspective. This is a team that has been rebuit. 2007 was the last year with the old guards. This year, they made it to the big dance with a rebuilt cores who are still young. This team will have plenty more success in the coming years.

I hope they can resign Welker though. Hopefully they can bring a receiver that can be physical and be a deep threat too. Tom still has a few good years. Looking forward to this year's season!

I have no issues with this team or the game. We fought well. One or two bounces turns our way sure but that is true of every game and we got one with the Ravens. I think we are just a few players away from another multi year run. Brady can be relied on so much to throw and we can have our D rely on turnovers.

Proud, but still oh so depressed. I can't get over that "what if" feeling or "so close" feeling.
