Gone: Shaun Ellis, Gerard Warren, Kevin Faulk, Dan Koppen

Possibly Gone: Ocho Cinco, Deion Branch, Andre Carter, Mark Anderson (Latter 2 are Free Agents I believe)

Must Replace:
James Ihedigbo

Needs: DLine depth. Deep Threat WR. Secondary help.

we'll see about those possibles, but they probably should be getting a wr and center into the pipeline in the draft, I'd think.
maybe a safety and corner.

there are always a lot of spots to improve, and it comes down to who they can get in fa at a reasonable price, and what falls to them in the draft that they like.

I know popular sentiment has us picking up lloyd, and obviously there are issues at the edges if we're counting out anderson and carter, although I don't know that those guys are gone.

should be a pretty interesting offseason -- I'm excited about it.
gonna be a long 3 months 'til the draft, but only about a month 'til fa.

realistically, this sucks I PRAY the Superbowl hangover doesn't kill this team next season.

No way in hell.

We have a young team and young players tend to be more resilient and bounce back quicker.

Plus the AFC is falling hard.

Colts will be a joke again. Steelers are fading. Chargers are consistent underachievers. Broncos aren't a real threat. Jets have gotten worse and don't believe their own hype anymore.

Only teams to look out for is the Ravens and Texans.

Anybody think we make a move for Reggie Wayne?

He's a Free Agent. Peyton will surely be gone. Wayne doesn't want to go through the whole rebuilding phase at this point in his career. Will want to play for a contender.

Re-sign Welker, Koppen, Connolly and Carter

Sign Brandon Lloyd

Add a WR who can fill Branch's role, or be another middle-deep threat

Add 2 DE/OLBs

Add S

Add CB

Interesting...Wayne has a couple of season's left in those legs..like i posted in the other threads, I like Lloyd, because of his familiarity with McD

Greetings,
I really like James Ihedigbo, just not as a starter though. I think he has a lot to contribute as a special teamer and when you have nobody else to play safety.

I think Lloyd can be a very solid choice, if his price is reasonable. He would give a 4 across of Lloyd/Welker/Hernandez/Gronk, and would allow the team to look for a 5th WR who could be either a Branch-style replacement or another middle-deep receiver.

Offense

Wide Receiver: Re-sign Wes Welker, sign unrestricted free agent Brandon Lloyd
Running Back: Re-sign Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis
Center: 2012 NFL Draft (third round)
Center: Re-sign Dan Connolly to cap friendly deal

Defense

3-4 Outside Linebacker (trade up and select Courtney Upshaw if available at 19th overall)

Draft Countdown - Trade Value Chart

3-4 Defensive End (first round)
Free Safety (second round)
Nickel Cornerback (fourth round)

Wayne AND Lloyd

Go for broke now....5 headed monster....Gronk, AH, Lloyd, Wayne, Welker

Rest everything in Draft spend on Pass rushers and DB's

Hello ive been a long time visitor of this site and i finally decided to make an account and share my sadness with the rest of patsnation :(. However i would like to share my opinion

We definately need to get someone who can stretch the field. I don't think we have a realsitic chance of trading up to get blackmon but kendall wright and alshon jefferey may be that guy.

As for the running game we need a back thats a threat, whats every1s thoughts on trading up for trent richardson, a lot of mocks have him going late teens but who knows what suprises await on draft day. Ridley has shown some flashes but also shows he has ball security issues. Vareen, who knows whats in store with that kid.

OFF TOPIC: We were the home team today and if i recall the home team decides what jerseys they want to wear. I really wish the patriots choose their white jerseys, the last time we beat the giants we were wearing white as it was an away game. We are 0-3 against the giants with our blue jerseys (07 superbowl loss, 2011 regular season, and now this superbowl) !!!!

I was thinking this last month when McD got freed up from the Rams...Lloyd follwed him to the Rams because he WANTED to be in Josh's system...it's not hard to believe the Pats may hard ball Welker and offer Lloyd a substantial contract...the slot WR is important but with Hernandez and Gronk operating around the middle I see a defense stretching veteran WR as a practical no brainer

I think Lloyd coming here would be awesome, he would be a huge addition. Plus, him and McDaniels are pretty much joined at the hip I am sure he wants to stay with him.

Was ANYONE excited about Ocho coming here? I know I was happy because I like the guy, but I didn't think he would fit in right here.

I will give Reggie this, I have never seen him drop a ball in a big situation. The dudes hands are amazing.

Lloyd is NOT coming to New England.

************! What's this stupid obsession? LOL.... We weren't even willing to cough up a 5th rounder for Lloyd this year. We could've easily have had him if we wanted to, but Belichick passed on him.

a stupid obsession??

it's only been bandied about on the airwaves and in print the last month from almost every orifice in N.E.

you live on another planet,Mr. Drake?

Outside of Moss and Welker hits, BB does not know how to develop a WR or judge the talent/fit..... There's plenty of data there now since last time we actually developed a WR was back in 2002 or so with Givens, Branch. Name me 1 other WR he was able to scout well or develop in this system ?

Does the name Doug Gabriel ring a bell ? How's that for starters....

The New England Patriots can have both wide receivers. The New England Patriots don't have to re-sign the following players:

Dan Koppen
Kevin Faulk
Shaun Ellis
Albert Haynesworth (a complete waste of $1.5 million cap space)
Andre Carter
Mark Anderson

With regard to salary cap savings, the New England Patriots can cut the following players:

Mike Wright
Chad Ochostinko
