Simply because who can improve enough to get over the hump that is the New England Patriots in the AFC?

If we sort out the glaring needs this team has that the whole world can see that we need then no question we'll be there.

Who else can really stop us from getting there again?

Jets - Sancheese and Rex at the helm? Nuff said.

Ravens - getting older by the year and couldn't get past us when they were primed and Tom played his worst game.

Steelers - With a healthy Ben? maybe but again that D took a few steps back from the one that got to SB 45 and to get outplayed by Tebow is just mind boggling so i just can't see how that works.

Texans - might be the No.1 seed next year, stellar run game and when their QB is healthy with those receivers and that top class defense they'll be tough to beat.

Again all the pats have to do is address the needs by drafting properly this time round. Also make sure the cheque book is out in full effect this FA because there are some gems for the Pats that can all but book us a place in NO.

Whatever happened tonight we'll still be the cream of the crop in the AFC with this QB and this coach, just need a little bit of extra help because instead of asking a few guys on this team to be Batman for 60 minutes there are ALOT of Robin's we can get to push us over the line.

Have to agree, the Ravens Steelers and Jets are all aging. Besides Brady, Light, and Branch our team is pretty young. As long as our OL can keep Brady upright we're in the hunt, and shoring up the D should get is rolling well. I think the Texans will be the Beast of the AFC next year, so we'll see how we match up with them. Andre Johnson + Arian Foster + Mario Williams = Nightmares

2011 Patriots + players on IR + draft picks + a couple of good FA signings = BIGGER Nightmares :)

this team I think is 4 players away from a superbowl win.

Maybe. RasI has looked good when he played, I wouldnt say no to Carter coming back realizing he's not going to be the same.

Is this the year we finally trade UP to grab our own havoc wreaker?

I have no idea who is going to be a FA besides Ocho Cinco, so I will take your word on this one.

Every year is a different team. There are no guarantees. This team has no Running game, and offense unnecessarily puts pressure on D, and besides Welker put these guys as WR's.

Price
Underwood
Ocho
Branch

As the addage goes, Defense still wins championships, and good Defenses can slow down or shutdown offenses......We've seen it from both sides, the early part of the decade when Pats dished it out on Colts and others, and the last 6 years we've seen where Pats have been in the receiving side of being shutdown.

Our teams the last 6 years have beem imbalanced and flawed. Furthermore, playcalling has beem moronic, andlastly little to no focus on drafting talent and developing.

It is what it is.......results since 2007 AFCCG speak for themselves.

If they get their D in shape with some drafts and through FA..they will be top 2 team in AFC next year

Greetings,
We have to see who other teams in the AFC draft and sign in Free Agency before I can make a call about the Patriots being in the Super Bowl next season. It is going to be a long off-season I can tell you that. I can say that with confidence that the AFC East will belong to the Patriots next season, baring a lot of major injuries.

could we get through the offseason before we start putting ourselves in the superbowl?

Sorry, I have to disagree. Brady will be a year older. May not have Welker, Branch and Ochostinko. All new receivers who may or may not take forever to learn the playbook. Gronkowski coming off of surgery. Too many holes to fill. Terrible defense and no receivers. Unfortunately the Jets will get better and the Steelers will get healthy. Steelers, if healthy, have a balanced offense with good receivers and RB's, and a good defense. Baltimore will be gunning for us, and let's face it, we were lucky to win that one. I really feel this was the last chance for the Brady/Belichick duo. The two of them just aren't as good as they used to be. As painful as that is to admit.

This makes it easier for me knowing that if we strengthen properly then barring a n injury to a key player we'll be there again because i don't think anyone could strengthen enough to matchup with us should we do things right in the off season.

I completely disagree and don't forget that a new OC could mean a new playbook and a fresh outlook on things with new faster and improved threats to go with Aaron, Gronk and Wes who will resign.

that's the NFL....roll of dice when it comes to injuries. They better make sure Brady is healthy next yr. At 35 he is hitting his downslide, and in the NFL the downslide can happen quickly with one hit, just look at Peyton. Since the NFL is totally a passing league, Pats cant hope to see Elway like 2 SB's with late 30's QB chucking away 50 times a game.....

2012-13, and 2013-14 are it for Brady. So, time for BB to decide. Window is 2 yr max for Pats. BB can choose to go all in for #4, or choose to keep tradinginto future drafts and every year the team lays a fat egg because it is totally imbalanced team, either DL is garbage with no pass rushers, or LB is weak, or WR depth sucks, or no TE, or Defensive secondary is a mess.

Hoping and praying that Sterling Moore, or Earthwind Mooreland's of the world to save us in championship games, has failed numerous times

The Steelers and Texans look like they could be threats.

Also, if the Jets or Dolphins get a healthy Peyton Manning, they would be right there with us. Still, will Manning be healthy?

If the Patriots are going to New Orleans it must be Brady and Gisele going to Mardi Gras.

Getting back is beyond rare....this is not Madden folks,I wonder sometimes if some fans believe it's simply that easy...too many video game brain burns.

didnt the bills loose like 4 in a row?

The Ravens were one short FG far left from being in yesterday's game.

The Ravens are still stacked on defensive front with the only real question mark is their secondary and maybe a star WR away

We saw that Flacco can be as good as he could be with proper game management.

Is this your latest "everything bad!!!" loop?..the "no team can repeat an appearance in the Super bowl the next year!!" rant? you've posted this like five or six times in the last hour....is this going to continue for the rest of the offseason?

No man i'm simply going by logic, the pats improve where they need to then only the Texans i can realistically, stylistically and matchup wise see giving us problems because the rest are a known foe and BB and Brady can figure them all out.

But then you say the lack of experience in the Texans team is glaring and could they seize the moment when asked against team that's been there and done it?

Yes they did...18 years ago

I cannot imagine what it must have been like to suffer 4 incredibly agonizing years like the Bills fans did, close to the top of the mountain yet fell off every time.

...and some of you think WE have it bad!
