Who would have thought that we would get to the big game with this Defense? So many jags and outcasts came together to create a pretty good team down the stretch. Who would have thought that our one of our two biggest acquisitions would be gone before mid season and the other would be a complete non factor and we would still be in Indy in february. Like Ray Lewis said, only one team wins this thing every year and its their year. The Giants made plays down the stretch and the Pats left some out on the field but thats the way it goes some times. The ball bounced their way....3 times;). Going into this offseason BB has plenty of ammo and cap space to work with to improve in some key positions and the few game changers were lacking to really be back on top.

Is liquor making the sting fade?

I thought it would be a really tough game going in, and I feel a lot better right now than I did the last 5 years, so whatever.

not making excuses -- I'd rather win, obviously, but this is still an awesome team and it was a great year.
hopefully, they can build on this base to even better teams in the future.

If you lose the Super Bowl to a great team that is one thing. Losing winnable games just sucks.

Not to me.

The worst part is that it was the Giants again.

I wish I had your resolve. This team was talented. One more lucky bounce and we would have won. Speaking of which, how many punts did the Giants luck out on and pin us back near tyhe goaline?

I suppose

To me it doesn't hurt as bad as '07, and I think part of that was I truly felt the Pats were playing over their head.

I also think the role of the villian is severely understated. Imagine the mental toll on our guys when they can just feel the hate in a building. That was an away game for the Pats, and nobody wanted them to win but their fan base.

Must be mentally draining

I agree with this I was very nervous going into the game, very grateful the Pats were there, and I'm still grateful. I thought they played great -- just not great enough. Welker hangs on to a throw he almost always hangs on to -- albeit a difficult catch -- and the story is completely different.

Be glad this is the team we root for.

Nothing will ever sting as bad as losing SB42. This is a tough loss but it is easy compared to that. I was dwelling over that game for months!

One deep threat with athletic ability and this team is SB champion, Chad is good but wasn't the answer for what we needed.

Tom throwing these sub 20 yard passes all season long and still getting us to the SB is actually quite remarkable but it's funny that with a Jared Allen type player on D and a Desean Jackson/Brandon Lloyd type receiver we'd be so much better off right now.

It's hard to feel better but if we get the right keys then i guarantee you this team will be back next season.

I can't believe how many of the comments on these boards are more negative than I would have expected. Only reason I came here was to see how some of Patriot Nation was taking the loss.

First off all I'll say that I'm a Lions fan and I'm posting this to hopefully inspire the the more negative posters here to appreciate what you have and where you're at. I'm surprised to see people calling for Brady to be benched or traded etc... You don't do that with a player like that; he's in my opinion more talented than say idk Eli Manning? Obviously despite that fact he did well enough to win.

You were a team that was rebuilding and in need of filling holes, yet somehow you forced your way into THE game of the year. I know there was an outcome that would have been sweeter, however you can't put a price on the championships you've won AND the SB's you've been in.

Trust me, it's better to see your favorite team go to the SB than to not have a shot. Now there will be jerks that revel in the loss, but only consistently good teams inspire venom like that. If the Patriots were a garbage team and had lost everyone would have been yawning, even Giants fans. They wouldn't find the energy to sling mud as it wouldn't stroke their ego.

That said I look forward to seeing Tom Brady and the Patriots next year. Go Lions, Go Pats and Go Brady!

What are you talking about man

I am completely devestated. this was our year.

This one will linger with the team. There's no way around it. Human nature. I think everyone would be better off reigning in the expectations for next season.

I'm already pretty much over it. Post-2007, I don't let myself get invested enough to be crushed when they lose. This one was close though, you could hardly script a more demoralizing loss.

The Patriots are my favorite team and always will be. The team is made up of human beings who, like each of us, make mistakes sometimes. They were given opportunities and did not come through on some of them. I can say the same thing about myself.

The Patriots are a great team. I thank Mr. Kraft for providing us with a group of players who are excellent people. I will forever be grateful to him, to the coaching staff, and all of the players for entertaining me and giving my mind something to take my mind off of my everyday concerns. I won't allow their wins or losses to have too great of an influence on me.

Of course you're devestated, nothing wrong with feeling that way. But considering it your teams year is a display of confidence and opinion more than fact. That holds true for any team; just like Young saying the Eagles are a "dream team".

When 2 teams play especially at the pro level either has a fair chance to win. Sometimes history is cruel. But tell that to all the opponents the Pats have devastated over the last 10 years, the teams knocked out of Playoffs because of them and SB's lost because the Pats beat them in the big game itself.

After all that you're still a winning club that would with a few key moves could very well be in the same game again next year or within the next few years. Nothing to cry about at all. The only thing that bothers me is that it's Eli Manning. Not a fan of the Mannings myself and get tired of people trying to turn them into a fairytale story.

Just looking at the what the schedule should look like, how far we came with the defense we have I feel great going into next season. We went 13-3 against an extremely tough schedule and went to the superbowl. I think we can all agree that we can improve and become a better team next season.

It took me until after the game to realize this, but I never really had the feeling that this was the Pats' year. That made it sting a lot less. I'd take this loss over the 07 and 10 losses, because those were both years where it just felt like it was their year. This year just always felt like a buildup to a better 2011 season. Heck, it was weeks before I could think about the draft last year after the Jets loss, but I think I'll get a mock together tomorrow night.

it hurts but we as a nation needs to move forward as the patriots do...win or lost they move forward...we just didn't get the breaks like other games...hurting, ofcourse but we will move onto the next season

the way things are going for you guys, if the pats are lucky enough to make it back there next year, we might just be seeing you guys and wishing we drew the giants.
