Why we can't beat the Giants..... simple.

Instead we ran many plays without a RB in the backfield and let their big pass rushers pin their ears back and take shots at Brady. We have never attempted to tire out their defense or push them around in the run game. Giants do not have good run defense.

It's always the same damn strategy and its failed 3 times in a row.

The Giants had 7 losses this year. The Redskins in particular beat them twice by running the ball down their throat.

I suppose it's a somewhat fair criticism, but it seemed like the pats were running the ball, and the point is to score points --- who do you think is best at doing that on the pats?

there are all kinds of examples of teams winning the time of possession battle and losing the game, so to pick out one thing might be an oversimplification.
score more points and you win the game, don't have 12 men on the field, don't give up a clutch 38 yard pass play, don't get a safety, etc.......

the giants were the better team, that's it -- it was close, but we got beat by a really good team.
a team that also took out green bay and san fran on this run.

Coughlin is a better big game coach than BB is at this stage of their careers. It's not even debatable. Time to accept that fact.

He also knows BB like the back of his hand, which is another reason these games have been close.

Also, and most importantly, the Giants have drafted circles around NE in recent years. Nicks, Cruz Manningham, JPP, Tuck, Osi, Boley, etc. -- all home grown players.

It's not about the X's and the O's, it's about the Johnnies and the Joes. They're more talented and that shows up when it counts.

Didn't work for the Falcons with a much better RB. That said, Brady being Brady opens things much more for his RB's than Ryan does. The run wasn't working for the Pats, but it wasn't for the Giants at first either. Have to be persistent with it, and I agree that was a big difference in the game.

I said it over and over, run the ball. First play from BoB/Brady is what......oh let's try play action from Endzone and throw it where no WR is around, as if our speedster WR are going to blow past the Giants secondary.

I said it Giants O had ball for ALL by 3mins of Q1......and in Q4 D was gassed, look familiar ?

There are a lot of ways to win - and lose - a football game.

It comes down to making plays, bottom line. When you're playing a good team, you can't force zero turnovers and let the opposing QB hit 30 of 40 passes and expect to win. When you're playing a good team, you can't miss opportunities to recover fumbles or pick off passes. When you're playing a good team, you can't drop passes (both easy and difficult) while allowing the opposing receivers to make catch after catch (both easy and difficult). When you're playing a good team, you can't let them drive virtually every possession into your half of the field.

And on and on and on. That's football for you. Back in the early 2000s, it was Ty Law or Rodney Harrison or Troy Brown making plays in the clutch. Now New England's getting out-clutched by the Giants. We can talk clock control or whatever, but it comes down to making plays. Simple as that.

Comparing Falcons offense to our offense, and how they use their RBs compared to how we use our RBs, is comparing apples to oranges.

Woodhead ran it 7 times also. Everytime BJGE got the ball the game thread exploded with negativity. The drives at the end the half and to start the third quarter were pure spread offense bliss. BOB had to think they were in total control at that point.

I agree with that.

Giants have had EARLIER picks than us though. Pierre Paul was #16 overall I believe.

However... We've had ALOT of picks in every draft thanks to alot of trades we made. (Seymour trade, Matt Cassell trade, etc)


We drafted some studs like Gronk,AHern,Solder,Volmer,Mayo,Spikes,Chung...... but we've missed on a ton of picks or given up on them too early..

Ron Brace, Brandon Tate, Taylor Price, Darius Butler, 2 running backs this past draft that didn't help much this year, Shawn Crable, Terrence Wheatley, Jermaine Cunningham (his much better DE team mate was drafted right after him and is tearing it up in Cincy).... All 2nd/3rd rounders that have gone to waste so far.


I really wanted to see Price and Tate develop in our offense, but it seems neither were given a chance. Who knows, maybe Price couldve turned into an Austin Collie type receiver, or Tate couldve given us some deep threat.

More than anything, I think it's just because of the horseshoe that Eli has constantly up his butt. Five fumbles forced by the Pats in the two Super Bowls, none recovered by the Pats. The Tyree thing. Gronk being hurt. Welker and Asante dropping sure catches.

The Pats can beat the Giants, and they probably do more than half the time if these teams were to play each other 100 times (and 90% of the 07 game), but it never quite swings their way. That's how it is in the NFL. The same reason so many people love the game (the physicality) is the same reason that the best team is so much less likely to win than in other sports.

People used to say the 01 Rams would beat us 90% of the time too.


It doesnt really matter. The fact is, we lost to the Giants twice in the SB now. Both within the last 2 minutes of the game.
