We all know the defense DID play good but still needs upgrading.
But, when you look and it will Kill us the next week or so, our WR's dropped a lot of balls that would have made a difference.

I would still like to see a Stud C that will get some push to help in the running game and a late WR or 2 (drop OCHO) but still go more defense.

So BB is calling you for your input next week and you tell him.......

Defense, we've been trying to win with offense since the last SB loss. There haven't been that many high round draft picks in the front seven

We need to draft some damn pass rushers and legit DBs instead of these no name guys that Belichick randomly and unexpectedly picks up and they either end up not playing or flat out not making the team. We also need a goddamn official Defensive coordinator. I'm sick of this crap.

The WR situation can get taken care in free agency, more so than the defense.

This team is always trying to just 'get by' with mediocre players and it's finally caught up to them. They need to invest in some playmakers instead of relying on JAGs.

Defense wins championships.

Big guys upfront. Draft another DT to help Wilfork.Draft another OT/G to help running the ball.I'll take 4 yds running the ball over 3 yds on bubble screen.

Definitely the D. BB needs to take off the GM hat and put his HC hat on and think of the team needs.

I seriously hope we trade up. I'm sick of this non exsistant pass rush we have. I would like Courtney Upshaw or Nick Perry. Along with someone next to Chung like Mark Barron.

Offense is basically set with just couple of additions.

There are plenty of holes on this team.

The secondary needs an overhaul. AGAIN.

Branch is done. Ocho done. Need at least 2 more WR even if Welker sticks around.

How much does Waters have left in the tank? What is Cannon going to become? OL is a need.

And stop me if you've heard this before....they need some defensive players who can set the edge and rush the passer.

Also DL is a big need. Love represented himself well this year as did Deadrick and Vince is Vince but there's little else in the way of talent/depth.

Must bring Anderson back.

RB may be a need if BJGE walks.

Outside of that pick your poison.

DB's played ther asses off but they are just so limited in what they can do. Goota get a cover guy in here.

Moore and arrington are workers and I want them on this team. There just not a 1/2 CB tandom. I thought mcourty was the guy but I can't even begin to figure out what he is.

I don't know why it always has to be a one or the other question.

with their first 5 picks (rounds 1-3) I could see a center, 2 db, and a wr, plus a traded pick.
or maybe sub in a 4-3 end/olb for one of those if the guy's there.

when you say whatever your case may be has 'finally caught up to them'........haven't they finished better this year than the last few years?
I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

weren't they just in a very close superbowl game?
they have a lot of youth on the team and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds --- don't get all nutty about it.

Some good posts above saying "balance".

Position groups that wouldn't make sense as a draft focus (even if one or the other pick does sneak through):

QB, RB, TE, K/P/LS, ILB

That leaves:

WR -- really problematic after the FA Welker.

OL -- a good collection of talent right now, but Koppen, Waters, and Light all are aging.

DL -- depends some on whether they finally give up on Wright's health (which would be wise), on Pryor's (which would be disappointing), and on whether Carter and Anderson are re-signed. But pass-rushing DL is somewhere between a need and an extreme need.

OLB -- Tracy White started in the Super Bowl.

DB -- McCourty, Arrington, Moore, Chung, Molden, and Ihedigbo are a good start to a group. I hope all 6 are on next year's team. But we need more.
