As much as I'm sure everyone is feeling terrible right now, there's no reason to get too down. It's just a game after all. Sure there were a few big plays that could've been the difference, but in the end it wasn't meant to happen. Give credit to the Giants, as much as I hate saying it, Eli outplayed Brady again and they deserved to win.

A month ago nobody thought we would even sniff the Super Bowl, let alone be inches away from winning it; which does make it sting all that much more. But there are some positives to be found.

We have a young team with a good core in place, and they can only improve, learn, and become stronger. We have two young RBs who could see the field a lot more next year, couple that with an upgrade at WR and our Offence gets even better.

Our defence still leaves a lot to be desired, but we did see drastic improvement at the end of the season and into the playoffs. Dowling will be back, and young players like Spikes & Moore will continue to progress. The defence is young and will continue to get better.

Couple that with 2 first and second round draft picks, along with a very workable salary cap, our curve is trending up.

We will be back to finish the job.

I agree, the team is trending up wards.

However, it is very difficult to make it to the Super Bowl, even for good teams.

This seemed like a very winnable game for the Patriots up until the Manningham 40+ yard catch on the sidelines.

Opportunities squandered.

when you get to the SB, you have to win it. Getting back will be harder than winning this game was.

B.S.

Look, were 1 coaching depature, and 1 QB retiring from 8-8 or worse.

The fact that I have seen the Pats in 7 SBs is amazing... But this won't last forever, every opportunitty missed, is only a reminder that you may not get that chance ever again.

We were given a chance to avenge that loss in 07, instead... Eli made another CLUTCH throw, to seal the game.

While we ran time of the clock, and played not to lose in the 4th.

And once Brady and BB hang em up, it may be 10-20 years before were back. You don't get these chances, Brady may never see another SB again.

The Offense and Team had so many chance to go up by 2 scores to come close to seal the game, but I haven't seen our offense put a big game away in a long time, we have been coming up short for some time. Simply hoping not to lose.

Yeah I agree with you all. We really missed a great opportunity today, the game could've been won on a number of plays, but we failed to make them. Can't pin it on any one player.

We are really fortunate to have Brady and Belichick, and we've really been spoiled by all the success. But my point is the window is still open, we will be back and we will be better.

We just lost the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady is 34 years old.

The defense is a house of cards.

The offense lacks a stable running game.

Enough is enough. Stop trying to put a positive spin on things. There is nothing about tonight worth appreciating. Don't bother soapboxing; it should not be welcome among rational circles. The only thing to look forward to is the chance to take a long break from football and recollect your thoughts.

This is a LOSERS THREAD. The Pats lost the game. This isn't town soccer where everyone gets a trophy. Accept it.we lost!!

i like this defense, 21 points , neutralized Victor Cruz
i like the o line
i like our Qb but i feel he has been let down by the GM
i kinda like the D line
We need a WR and a pass rusher. Deion Branch wont cut it. Failure to address this on BBs part this summer will amount to treason in my eyes. We have 1 max 2 shots for a Superbowl with TB left.
and yes, pay Wes welker.
kudos to the D, They are young, maybe linebacker /safety short but cant fault them for this.
last but not least, we need a GM that isn't answerable to BB.

Nice effort but let's cut the Pollyanna garbage.

The fact is they blew one hell of an opportunity tonight. On top of the other one they blew when they pissed down their legs in 2007.

Brady is going to be 35 next year. BB is pushing 60. You get oh so few cracks at moments like this in a career.

When opportunities like this are CHOKED AWAY it should hurt, it should linger and it should affect people. You better believe this one will and I'm not just talking about "the fans".

Enough with the cheapshots at the defense. They played pretty well tonight overall. I know everyone wants to look at the one big completion but they were on the field way longer than they should have been thanks to some offensive issues.

For the record, they gave up 19 points, really only 16 except they conceded the TD to give Brady a chance. They gave up only 7 points in the first half when mistakes by the offense could have put the game out of reach early on.

This defense started out poorly and has lived with that rap forever, but they've played well during these play-offs and carried the offense at times. We're not that far away from having a dominant defense again.

How can you say this? This entire team since 06 has been about Brady... Our entire team revolves around giving him weapons. And because of that, we have a Defense which can't take over a game, which gives up big drives and can't out physical anyone.

Did you see our LBers out there... Such an ineffective bunch. Mayo and Spikes both lat times looked completely lost, and they have no ability to blitz, they can't break through.

Spikes was over pursuing on all of those cut backs.

my point exactly, its not time to rebuild a defense with a 35y/o HOF qb, We should have been prepared on both sides of the ball for when this opportunity came up. and like i said, we need LB help, bb is supposedly the defensive genius, maybe he should concentrate on that and have help doing the groceries. btw no other coach i'd rather have

Maybe you should invest in a pair of reading glasses and take the time to understand the words that I write before shooting off the missiles. I did not say the defense played poorly tonight. I said the defense is a house of cards.
