When at the end of the game, the Giants put the ball on the ground 3 times and recovered all three. When the Giants need a big play, they got the "big play"....on several occasions. They got the big interception,. They got the great catch on the sideline. They got the key 3rd downs.

OTOH, on the key throw of the night, when the Pat were in position to seal the game. THEY got the drop. They didn't make the play. Even on the final drive, there were 3 catchable balls that were dropped.

No folks this was the Pat game to win. THEY were the better team, but because they also made the most mistakes. They simply didn't deserve to win that game. THAT's why Myra did let Gronk get that hail mary.

Now since I will go into mourning for the rest of this month. I leave you all with one question to ponder. Why does the league reward a team that creates a penalty to prosper from it. The Giant had 12 men on the field on the 2nd to lat play and despite the 5 yd penalty which basically doesn't matter, 9 seconds were lost to the Pats. If that's the case why not send out 15 guys for the next play, its only going to cost you 5 yds and another 5-8 seconds will go off the clock. See the guilty prosper. I think the rules committee should look into that.

See you guy in a month. It was a great ride. A combination joy and shame. An opportunity lost, but not because of bad luck, or that we weren't good enough. It was lost because we DIDN'T make the big play. Its as simple as that.

This is brilliant.

Right about the penalty said the seam thing to my wife, at least if that situation comes up next year BB will flood the field...

Yes, I thought that was plainly wrong. The rules should have it in that situation that no time goes off the clock. Why penalize the offense more than the offending party?

Let's get Polian to bring it up at the Rules Committee......oh, never mind.

The issues with the offense and the defense were there for all to see in the final 4 minutes. It's not like we were unaware of them. Today, they proved to big to overcome.

Football is a game of inches. The Patriots lost today missing key plays by inches.

Eventhough I'd agree with the whole penalty killing time issue, let's not forget BB decided to challenge a call that should not have been challenged.

There's been a few times in the past where he's made some questionnable challenges and I wonder what the guys in the booth are telling him...

Great post +10

I am sad but not unhappy. I can accept the fact that we lost the game because our offense was unable to execute. They put themselves in a position to be able to execute but couldnt finish it with the numerous drops. That somes to happens to even the best of them.

We had three scoring drives during the entire game. That just will not win Championships.

I am glad they reached the SB and put themselves in a position to be the Champion. Sad that they couldnt.

In a one-off high stakes match, it is usually the more talented team that wins. That was the case today. There was more individual talent on their side than ours. They made the important plays, we didn't. They deserved it. At the beginning of the season if you had asked me if this team would make it to the superbowl, I would have said hell no. I now wish they hadn't. I would rather them not make it than create heartbreak after heartbreak. Bill, please, assemble a talented roster next time around.

I put it on the offense. The defense gave the ball back to the offense a few time with the lead and the offense could have put it away. Brady had some tony Eason moments down the stretch

You know, IndianPat, you verbalized exactly how I feel.

I'm very sad, but somehow at peace with this, unlike SB42.

This team was valiant and honorable. Gronkowski was hurt, the secondary was held together by scotch tape and yet they came within inches of winning the Super Bowl.

It's sports.

I'm proud of the Patriots.

yeah..like the ball that hit Welker in BOTH hands at the Giants 30...Brady's fault...at one point 16-16...Brady sucks....

just about sick of this turd ,Mods...he's been a freakin' undercover troll all season...he's 628 from Gang Green and I've PROVED IT with a word for word IDENTICAL post he's
made HERE as Illegal Contact and THERE as the now banned 628...he's an ugly little hater and a troll who needs to be banned for this ridiculous display he's putting on here tonight.

Yeah when theres Three fumbles and each time the ball bounces the wrong way its not your night. And then theres the dropped passes, and the mental mistakes.

The Pats lost in the last minute of the Super Bowl...with Edelman playing in the freakin' secondary.,..krist,they played a great game and one they could have won if they get even ONE bounce their way...it was the Giants night to win...I salute them...but I love the Pats and the way these guys competed

Well said. They might have won. It turned out that they didn't.

It's simple...Giants are the luckiest team in all of sports...honestly three fumbles all going their way, the Manningham catch, Wes Welker uncharacteristically dropping a 90% game winning catch, Gronk at 70%, WTF

Well said. Four years ago I was bitter because I felt that, while the team that played better that day had won the game, the Pats were still the better team.

Today, the Pats had chances to make play after play to turn or win the game. The D held the Giants to 21 points, even with the Offense essentially spotting the Giants nine points.

Today, our guys did everything they could and gave it their all, but the better team won a game that either team might have won.

I will sleep much easier tonight than I did four years ago.

What can we even expect from this team going forward? They could even go undefeated next regular season and it could be all for nought. These teams lack the magic that the early '00s teams had.

It's going to be a very different experience watching this team play next year. What can we expect?

There's a thin line between "luck" and "doing what you have to do when you have to do it."

The Giants did what they had to do to recover those fumbles.

Manningham did what he had to do to secure the ball and get his feet in bounds.

Welker didn't.

Yes, Gronkowski was hurt, but one guy didn't win or lose this game.

Our team lost this game and the other team won it.

I don't know what the stats are for the team losing the SB, but they're not good for the following season. Let's be honest, the Pats had a lot of breaks go their way this season and they overachieved. There is no way they get back to the SB without focusing solely on building up a smashmouth defense that will pressure the QB.
