"I really didn't think that was the kind of football that we want to be demonstrating for our fans," Goodell said. "And you heard it from the fans. The fans were actively booing in the stands. They didn't like what they were seeing."

Goodell said something has to change.

"We're either going to have to improve the quality of what we're doing in the Pro Bowl or consider other changes or even considering eliminating the game if that's the kind of quality game we're going to provide," Goodell said.

Good, the sooner the better. As long as it doesn't mean extra regular season games.

I'm open to it too. The players clearly view it as a liability.

I think they should eliminate additional Pro Bowl bonuses and give them only to the winning conference. Contracts already have Pro bowl incentives and that 25 grand is peanuts anyways.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't help anything, either. Like you said, $25K is peanuts for these guys, nobody's going to play harder to earn it.

I smell strings attached. Minus 1 Pro Bowl and Plus 2 games might be what Goodell and the owners are really after.

Or maybe +1 game. He recently said that if LA adds a team, the league would look to add two teams to go to 34. 34 teams, 17 games looks good on paper, like the current 32 teams, 16 games.

Yea they would have to up the ante. They actually should anyway, I mean I've seen guys pay more than 25K for fines. Just eliminating the bonus for both allows you to go up to 50K per player without any additional cost.

I'd rather see a skills challenge. Growing up, I loved those competitions. Like QB accuracy, who throws it the furthest, etc. They could have those for each of the skill positions.

It just doesn't make sense. You can't play football without risking injury and these guys have way to much on the line to needlessly risk hurting themselves.

End it.

Except that when you stop and think about it, it means going back to the bad old days of hideously unbalanced schedules.

Not just that, but by moving it ahead of the Superbowl, you eliminated any of the pro-bowl selections from either team from playing. That's not fair to the fans buying the tickets, and it cheapens the game itself.

The better idea, in my book, would be to change the name to "All-Stars" instead of Pro-Bowl selections. Then, have the NFL donate $25K in the name of each player selected to a charity of their choice. THAT would get some nice cash flowing around, let the players get some good face-time with the charities they support, and some nice PR for the NFL to boot.

So that would be 26 selections for each conference (22 offense, 22 defense, 3 ST and 1 coach) 52 checks, each for $25k to a charity on behalf of the player and the NFL could help a lot of folks/programs.

Anyway, that's MY 2-cent's worth.

respects,

One year, as a joke, they should vote in all the kickers and punters from the league and only them. They'd have to play QB, OL, etc.

Well, that's a start. I hope he is also open to eliminating the entire Rats franchise.

Instead of money, they should play for a one-time use fine amnesty card. Wouldn't they play for the ability to celebrate any way they damn well please once a season?

This doesn't affect me. I don't think I've logged 60 minutes of Pro Bowl watching in my entire life.

Name all-pro teams, for incentive and resume purposes, forget the game itself. T

You know, this would actually work! Let the guys who participate in the pro bowl celebrate the way they want in the season as an incentive! I think a firm spanking will get the guys to play harder, that was realllly bad.

They should eliminate the super bowl....
