"I ask Belichick how he slept this week at this hotel, and he said "Like a baby"

I am 100% convinced now that BB's demeanor this week is because he knows he has the keys to winning this game figured out.
The saying of sometimes the game is won before its played comes to mind.
Now many coaches have been overconfident leading up to a game. Simms said Harbaugh told him they were sure they would win the night before the AFCCG.
But this is out of character for overpreparer BB. I think there are mismatches he knows he can exploit, and he has great confidence in his game plan based upon his demeanor.

I'm getting tingly all over :D Only 1/4 of a day 'til the Emperor calls for the lions! :D I look forward to all the postgame analysis of "How Bill did it"...

I think there's that possibility, but I get the feeling that he's been loose this week because this team reminds him of the first SB team. He didn't expect them to go anywhere that year because he was trying to rebuild...and suddenly Brady appears with a SB ring. I don't think Belichick expected a lot from this team this year, particularly not after the defensive cuts early on, and he's now pleasantly surprised.

The thing I've been worried about is that it seems like there's a bit of a "happy to be there" vibe coming off the Pats as a result. Hopefully that's not the case in the locker room.

He knows this team is mentally strong, and he has openly stated that. Also, he is cherising the fact he has made 5SB's as a HEAD COACH. How many coaches in the history of Superbowl era NFL can lay that claim ???????

That's right folks, our coach has made 5SB's, and that too in a salary Cap era with a rag tag group over the years !!!!!!!!!!

Redemption cometh today !

M.H.K !!!!!

Thats not in BBs DNA. He did not take it easy and feel relaxed vs the Rams. He took the blame to his team for the reg season loss and worked like a man obsessed to game plan for them.
Relaxed only comes when the work is done. Happy to be there doesn't exist.

Talking to a friend of mine this morning, and he had a great theory, he thinks BB is loose since he has had McDaniels working on a SB gameplan since the divisional round. I think he sees a tell, kind of like Orlando Brown as we saw in one of the America's Game shows about his hand placement and what play was coming, and knows it can be exploited. I have never seen BB and the team this loose, it seems like the opposite of the game that shall not be mention.

I still think it's 'cuz he knew he'd be cutting underwood.

I wonder if he's trying to set a more relaxed tone with the team because of the way Brady has seemed to press in big games the last few years.

Lets not start that crap today, huh?

Agreed. The practices in the heat, the ambient noise jacked up, the roster finally back to reasonable health, and the Giants incessantly yapping. They'll get the Giants blocked. Silvestro activated for a d-line rotation. Wilfork coming off of his best game. Ty Law shaking his head and beaming when he said "Oh, Bill's got something" in response to a question about his practice observations. I can feel this one. I can sense a two possession victory.

You are feeling exactly what I am in the build up to this game.

I predict the Silvestro plan is a special package designed for this game, where he will be an INSIDE rusher in obvious passing situations to use the quickness as a mismatch against interior OL. Like how we used to once in a while put Vrabel or Bruschi at DT in special sub packages. It may be 3 plays, it may be 23 if we have a lead and they are in pass only mode, but I think there is a special, unexpected role for him.

If you're optimistic, then I feel a lot better about being optimistic :D

Pretty much how I see it. I think Belichik is as ready as he has ever been and he knows how is team is going to perform and feels completely confident. It's never a guarantee but the demeanor does give great confidence, and I don't believe for one second it is misplaced.

What crap? Seems more plausible than what you're suggesting--that BB has tapped into some key to the universe that ensures him that he's going to win.

Never a guarantee but from a guy who leaves no detail to chance, places more enphasis on gameplanning than anyone and is really never satisfied (win or lose he will be working on the draft and FA by Monday night) it is a good harbinger.

Silvestro is not a playmaker, he is just a body to work in as part of a rotation against a team that is going to be throwing it 40+times.

The Brady pressing in big games crap.

Oh hey, thanks. Did BB tell you the rest of the game plan too?

Where did I say anything like that?
I see BBs confidence as a sign that he is comfortable with the game plan he has in place and confident he's got a good matchup. Why must you make something up and pretend I said it to disagree with me?
