Well I'm not a moderator but I still think you owe someone an apology. He was right, too, this whole concept is flat out stupid.

Whether you think its stupid or not use OPINIONS to back up your views on opposing the post - Not sarcastic or degrading comments - Yes I did that too but it was in retaliation for the insult - As we all know Patriots fans are some of the most proudest fans in sports, especially long term ones.

Insulting them by saying they know little is cause for anger and making statements that are not welcome on a forum like I did and which I usually refrain from normally - For that I am sorry, but IMO the 'attacker' is at fault as well which started my rant and its over.

After last week's tremendous coaching duel, I thought McD did pretty well. But who knows, maybe we'd be better off with a truly experienced coach, someone with a track record in the playoffs, someone who really knows how to manage an offense and make those critical gametime adjustments.

Maybe after last weekend, Herm Edwards will be looking for a job. What do you think?

Why? Maybe to you, but maybe not to some others.

The man has a right to give his opinion without being attacked.

And yes, HIS outburst was, also, out of order.

I agree my outburst was out of order and I am sorry to litter the forum with that - We have these Charger goons doing that this week - Only some of them that is - Some are O.K.

Remember 2003 when we won the Super Bowl ? We scored 21.8 PPG. That was with Branch and Givens. And a detriment in Antowain Smith.

Now we have a detriment at WR but a stronger running game. Guess how many points we scored this year ? 24.1. 7th in the league.

But, sure, let's replace the Offensive Coordinator, he's a bozo.

And I am sure that all of your posts and concepts are of the highest intelligence and you never had a stupid or arguable post - Please spare me that.

There is no poster here in this forum with the name of GOD and never will be,all of our posts don't have to be great, some downright suck, but thats the way it is like it or not.

IF Patriots64 has another bad post will he be banned from this board? That has about the same weight as this thread. Some may like Pat64 some may not. He has gotten some criticism as of late. Hmmmmm. Somehow I don't think he will be banned though.

People are getting away from my original post - I am not saying we should replace McDaniels,I am saying maybe his performance as OC in the playoffs and even extending into the SB could have an impact on his future as OC - Thats it

How many of you professors saw Doug Gabriel getting cut without warning? - NONE OF YOU.

So don't think strange things can't happen to a coaching staff or anyone on the team - They have happened before and will again - Where? I don't know - When? Whenever.

I didn't expect Gabriel to be cut but we all saw that he was barely playing anymore. It wasn't exactly without warning.

We could be shut out tomorrow and there wouldn't be an OC change.

Unfortuneately, with the success that Mangini has had in New York, the chances of losing McDaniels to another team hoping to strike "BB Gold" through a young promising branch, are pretty good.

...and for all of the other contending teams out there, you can consider yourselves on a par with the Pats when teams target your assistants as voraciously as the Pats have been targeted.

Well good luck to them. He'll be a total failure. He's basically an intern that BB is training because he doesn't want to hire an experienced co-ordinator.

An Offensive co-ordinator always brings in his own system and sets the QB back til he learns it.

It's really a great idea by BB. He gets a bright hardworking guy to learn the Charlie Weis/BB system.

Based on his experience, if McDaniels is ready to be a head coach, I'm only about three years behind.

Well it's been nice knowing you, Ray . . . but please go to the NFC not the AFCE OK ? :singing:

Well it's enough time to get about half Mangini's position coaching experience if I move around a lot. I doubt I'll get moved up to DC that quick, BB's probably a little gunshy.

Seriously, though. Mangini had a lot of experience. It's not about age, McDaniels hasn't even been a position coach, I believe.

"Josh McDaniels enters his sixth NFL season and his sixth season in New England. He joined the Patriots on March 1, 2001 as a personnel assistant in the scouting department and assisted the defensive coaching staff for three seasons. He began serving as the Patriots' quarterbacks coach in 2004 and was named offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach on January 20, 2006."

He wasn't an "assistant Linebacker coach" , he "assisted the coaching staff" which means he wasn't on it.

A quarterback coach is a specialist, really. Usually a QB, cough *Vinnie* cough.

He's basically been a film intern like BB was with the Baltimore colts.

I don't really pay attention to the play calling controversy, I think it's silly.

Bottom line, he's not going anywhere. BB wants continuity in the offensive system from Weis.

He has nowhere near the actual coaching experience teams look for in a head coach, while Mangini had a tremendous amount for a guy his age.

If McDaniels leaves, I'm betting on the film intern from the North Dakota Miners as the new OC after a year's internship, (If he's stil onthe team:D ).

Does anyone here think Bill Belichick is stupid? Does anyone think he makes hasty decisions? Does anyone think he will ever hire a coordinator from outside the organization or ever change HIS system? I'm not even going talk about whether Mcdaniels is a good or bad OC but to even suggest that BB may fire him or demote him after the game against SD suggests that you have not been paying attention to this team the last 5 years.

You work your way up in this system, Josh has done that. BB was happy with his performance and competence last year. There is no reason to even suspect BB is not happy with his performance or competence this year.

Now is Josh the best OC in the NFL? NO Is Josh the worst OC in the NFL? NO

He will be here as long as BB has confidence in him and I dont see BB losing confidence in him any time soon. Enough with the pointless and baseless speculation. It's bad enough that I have to read how bad the OC of the 7th ranked offense in the NFL is on a day to day basis, but now to suggest that because some fans do not like his play calling is just going off the deep end.

What gets me the most are the people who seem to believe that BB is a great coach/manager but Josh Mcdaniels is a horrible OC. To continuously diss Mcdaniels ability is to ALSO diss BB's decision making ability, at least on the matter of OC. BB picked Mcdaniels, BB gave him the official title this year, BB has never shown anything but confidence in him, BB knows more than all of us combined.

Sigh.

He's had no WR to work with and has about the 7th best offense in the league.

True - but eventually he DID find a way to compensate for that... a spread offense, utilizing the hurry up/no huddle to keep defenses off guard and preventing them from having the upper hand.

Give NEM some credit - that's what he was calling for as early as game 2.

I give McDaniels credit for finally recognizing it as well. I do think that out of the four losses this might have made a difference in one or two games.

That, in turn could have meant having a bye or home field advantage for a game in the playoffs.

So I'm not about to call for McDaniels head - but I would had he not learned and grown over the course of the season.

Interestingly, Mangini had a similar situation last year, having to cope with major injuries and it took him some time to trust his personnel enough to free them up to put pressure up front, rather than holding them back to compensate for the injuries in the secondary.

Like everyone else has said, he's not going anywhere just because they lose this game. McDaniels has had some miserable games, IMO, and Belichick has stuck with him throughout. Belichick isn't going to get rid of a guy who helped them go 12-4 because he lost a game to the best team in the NFL.

This thread is a sign that we have broken down this game to the max already, and we have nothing more to talk about :D

Josh has had some bright moments....Minnesota

Josh has come up small....Miami

What is vital are the adjustments that need to be made during the game to counter the defensive scheme of the opposition.

Clearly Brady is more effective from the shotgun and provides him better visibility to see targets and avoid the pressure. On other boards I have pleaded for Josh to employ these formations and run screens and slants to mitigate the rush and enable the wide outs to get open sooner.

In the two tight end offense Brady is under the center and typically uses a 7 step drop to give time for receiver separation. It has not worked and with
Matt "the human turnstyle" Light on his blind side that strategy will get TB killed this week.

Coach Bill will stick with the OC regardless of Sunday's result.
I would feel much better if our offense shows a creative and aggressive approach to scoring points early and often.

No penalties....No turnovers

Perhaps, the poster should have said that your comments made it "seem" like you have only 15 minutes of Patriots knowledge.

To be clear, to think that winning or losing this game will determine whether Josh keeps his job shows very little ability to understand the patriots decision-making process. Success in the next month is more likely to have Josh considered for an assistant HC position (a year or two early) than be fired. We posters have a lots of influence, as does some of the media. However, I suspect the vast majority think that we have a strong offense and that Josh shouldn't be fired (perhaps he needs experienced coaching support). Perhaps, you are taking the posters here too seriously. By the number of posts, you would have thought Charlie Weis was hated as an incompetent when he was here. In the end, this was far from the truth. So it is with Josh. He is a long way from being as good as Charlie, but he is indeed improving every game.

And just by the way, I think that the Colts coordinator would be under similar criticism if the colts had our receivers instead of theirs (including WR's and TE's), with as much experience with their system. The colts would likely have had a losing season. It is a testament to all our offensive coaching staff that the offense is doing so well, and that the team is in the divisional round of the playoffs. On the other hand, if we had Harrison, Wayne and Clark instead of Caldwell, Gaffney, and Watson, we'd be heavy favorites tomorrow. (Graham is needed as an OL).

Not really,I am awake,I just do not appreciate comments like I only have 15 minutes worth of Patriots knowledge - That pissed me off a bit to say the least-Been a fan for 28 years and agree with my opinions or not I think guys here need to be opinionated for/against-not sarcastic comments which were not acceptible in my book and I spewed my anger-end of story.

Na, Patsfan24 just doesn't have a sense of humor.. Miserable person.
That's not nice. My reaction to unoriginal's post was exactly the same as Patsfan24. And on the Internet, if you want people to know you are kidding there are smilies for that.

I am not going to get into this again, because , obviously, you really dont understand the gist of these Josh McDaniels posts. No one that I know of has suggested replacing him, not even me. All that has bneen pointed out that there have been a lot of games in which his play calling has been questioned, not just by me, not just in this forum and not just by one sportswriter...it has been questioned on several occasions.

But, that is the nature of the game and, IMO, offensive coordinators are the most noticed of all assistant coaches. Just look at how many oC's , just this season, had either been replaced or demoted.

Their vulnerabilities are front and center for the whole world to see.

Josh McDaniels had a "fair" season, and that is about as far as anyone can go.

You just cant take a stat like PPG and say that an OC did great, or sucked.

You have to look at the whole picture.

And, in many games this season, some of our losses, and even in some of our wins, the play calling was very, very questionable.

A couple of our losses should have been wins if not for questionable play calling, namely the COlts and the Jets games.

And, several of our wins went down to the latter stages of the fourth quarter before our defense iced the games away, because on too many occasions the offense dropped the ball, sometimes on poor execution, and sometimes on poor play calling.

And that is how you determine how good, or how bad, an OC performed over the course of an entire season...and not just by saying, WOW, we scored 24.1 points per game, he is just great.

It doesnt work that way, not at all.

I really did not want to get into another Josh McDaniels discussion, but it seems that whenever one does occur, and not from me, you are always the first one to jump in and criticize, sometimes way too harshly, any poster that doesnt think that Josh was all that great....

He really wasnt all that great, to tell the truth. I did see some improvement in the past few games, and that came about because he finally changed some of the plays he was using and began using others....

He has been far too slow to adjust and make changes. Perhaps he is learning.

But in either case, you should tone down your attacks on fans who are just rtying to make a point on something that you, personally, disagree with. YOu have done this many, many times, and you have personally attacked a lot of posters, myself included, just for having a different view. And that is very, very wrong. Now, I am done, and as I said, I really dont want to get into another Josh McDaniels argument. There are much more important things at hand.

Makes perfect sense and good points NEM - For many of these guys who think you don't make good points I say they are not reading what I am reading of your posts-Maybe its the fact you post alot that iritates some, but I think most of your opinions are right on including the point of the 'bullys' on here bashing the other posters who have been here awhile.
Lets save the bashing for the smart aleck posters from other teams who join here just to cause trouble.

NEM, I think that you're about as wrong as can be when it comes to the offensive coordinator, and Brady and Belichick agree with me, not you. However, this post is about something else:

Tremendous job on breaking down your points without losing your temper lately. Enjoy the games this weekend and I hope we'll have at least another week for you to be criticizing playcalling by the Patriots, calling for prayers and enjoying the crescendo of excitement that comes with teams getting closer to the Super Bowl. You take care and have a great time....
