This could be Chad Johnson's breakout game! (Super Bowl edition)

The "why" doesn't matter. It's the fact that his legal name is whatever he changed it to.

The why doesn't matter to you. Your choice

DI: We also need to address the possibilities of Moss being an asset to us for this game, then I believe we're set

Moss is reportedly going to provide updates from the Patriots hotel (per 98.5). Sadly, that'll rule him out as an active player. :(

Ocho came here to steal a chance at a ring and $6M......looks like he was successful at that at least

Not until we sign Adam Seward.

I don't think so. I think he expected to be a big producer AND have a shot at a title.

It matter because legally changing you name is a deeply personal thing and other people should respect that even if you feel the reason or name the person changed it to is silly.

Try to get a grasp on this: I understand your position, but I don't hold with it and I don't really give a damn how deeply personal (or not) this type of name change is. You are welcome to call Chad Johnson whatever the hell you want to. I'll call him Chad Johnson. I'm one person taking a deeply personal stand against the stupidity of naming one's self a number.

I'm not ready for a "big game" but I do believe he could be targeted more in this game because of a few factors.

He is still capable of beating man coverage.
Gronk's ankle could dictate the outside seeing more balls.
He will be singled up 100% of the time due to his ineffectiveness this season
The infamous new BB wrinkle that is sure to show it's head on both sides of the ball in some facet.
We can run on the Giants and I believe a safety will come down for run support.
The giants will focus heavily on the middle of the field on passing downs.

I think Ocho will have an opportunity to help this team. I could see him getting 4-6 grabs some being for 1st downs. I am not predicting any TD's and I don't think he breaks 100 yds.

Better late than never!

3 rec, 50 yards, TD!!!

Will you guys shut the hell up please? It is Super Bowl Sunday and the Patriots are playing in it, and we're arguing about Ochocinco's name on this board? REALLY???

Quoted for posterity.

Comparing Chad changing his name to Ochocinco to Cassius Clay becoming Muhammad Ali is pretty ridiculous and shows your fundamental ignorance of Islam.

Back on topic:

I actually think that Johnson could have some impact in this game. I expect that the Patriots have put in some plays and specifically focused on having Johnson understand everything about them. I don't know if he's going to be used to threaten deep all that often, and I still don't think he'll be out there much when the team goes no huddle, but he's shown that he still has the ability to run the short/medium out routes.

I'm just hoping that he's confident enough in the plays that he doesn't fight the ball when it gets to him.

Brings to mind Tiquan's "Karate Kid" attack on the ball with the wide open TD pass Brady threw him early in the season

I don't believe there's a Chad Johnson on the NE roster.

Brady and Belichick call him Chad Johnson.

Chad johnson could be the game breaker. I really hope he uses this superbowl to shut all the people who doubted his "football" IQ.

I really hope chad come through.

Then this thread's probably not for you. BTW, for you and Oldskool.......

Chad Ochocinco Wants His Old Name Back
The Bengals wide receiver said on Tuesday he plans to change his name back to Chad Johnson.

On January 25, 2011, Ochocinco told an ESPN reporter that he will be changing his last name back to Johnson.[61] However, on June 30, 2011, Ochocinco told an ESPN reporter that because of financial issues, he would keep his name as Chad Ochocinco and not go back to Johnson.[62]

He hasn't done a thing all year but suddenly he's going to be a game changer. I hope I'm wrong but I have a hard time believing that.

Maybe josh mcdaniels, brady, and chad came up with some new long pass plays for chad.

We can only hope lol

* Increased role for Ocho?: "The release of Tiquan Underwood indicates that veteran wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will play his first Super Bowl after being inactive during the AFC Championship Game and on the field for just one play in the victory over Denver in the postseason. He's had two strong weeks of practice and I'm told by people in the Patriots organization that nobody here will be surprised if he makes a couple of big plays today."
