Watch this video around the 2 minute mark, you will see Nancy Gay make up medical evidence about Gronk. Apparently, he now has a serious high ankle sprain and he was advised to have surgery and miss several months of playing and practicing. Where is this information coming from?

EDIT: I want to point out that Gay is just blowing reports of Gronk getting his ankle scoped into major surgery. Just an example of the stupidity of this week.

Even if he needs surgery he'll be back next season. Nothing to worry about.

i mean he may need surgery if they are holding back some info on the ankle..but even if he has surgery a week after the game..he should be ready to do..

i always get nervous with surgeries on ankles..more than knees

But we are talking about mythical experts so Gronk may not be able to return until Belichick travels to Candyland and gets rainbow sunshine from the Lollipop queen and pour it on Gronk's leg. Not confident that Belichick will be able to do that before the season starts next year.

I was just pointing out how the media take some vague information and turn it into a huge thing. She obviously is combining a bunch of medical experts who have no direct knowledge of Gronk's injury and the Rapaport story that Gronk will need his ankle scoped in the offseason (which is common for a lot of players to do in the offseason) and creating something completely different.

It's Fox, they always make their own alternative reality based on fiction.

According to Ian Raparport, he may need to get his ankle scoped which is a nothing procedure. It is just cleaning up the area. Nancy Gay is just an idiot and turning it into significant surgery. She is a nobody. No way does she have anything more than reporter close to the team would have.

Again, I am just pointing out the stupidity of the media this week turning into some insignficant and vague reports of Gronk getting his ankle scoped after the Super Bowl and turning it into major surgery that will sideline him for months.

When I first read this my first thought was wtf is Nancy Grace doing commenting about Gronkowski's ankle?

Back to your question I seem to recall somebody in the media asking a doctor for his opinion, and regardless of what that doctor specifically said in the article it came out that he said Gronkowski needed surgery. Aside from it being reckless for a doctor to make a diagnosis without even seeing the patient, it gave the media the juicy story they coveted. Apparently she just embellished it a bit to now be medical professional(s) (plural). But listening a second time to her words and she skates a very fine line; it sounds like she is saying medical professionals that have actually seen and treated Gronkowski, but actually she is referring to medical professionals that have watched the video of his injury. Technically that could be a scrub tech and a CNA who told her they think Gronk needs surgery and she wouldn't be lying.

Of course there is also the obligatory 'Belichick is lying', 'the Pats are the only team with an injury', 'the team with the five game winning streak is hot but the team with the ten game winning streak is cold', and the 'OMG Julian Edelman is playing defense' implying he is starting, not a dime back.

99.99% of the people who get paid to cover sports seem to be capable of nothing more than repeating what someone else already said when it comes to this game and their predictions.

I laughed at this a little because I remember that's what they said about Peyton, and looked how that turned out. Albeit it's not a neck injury.

So do we think that there is strong possibility that Gronkowski is never right again because of this injury? I mean obviously he should be able to play next year, but this injury shouldn't limit him going forward in the rest of his career should it?

No more than WWW's ACL tear.

She is a loony. If he had a more severe high ankle sprain, he would be on crutches for a number of weeks. He could possibly play on that, but it wouldn't need surgery.

If he needed surgery, it would mean he had an unstable severe injury and they would put screws in to keep the bones of his leg together.

Neither of these is consistent with going back in the game and leaping up and down post game.

How do these people get jobs?

It's a sprained ankle. he's like 22 years old.

Just another " The sky is falling" report by media looking for readers.....

Go Figure

Dwight Freeney played on torn ligaments in his ankle, not just strained ones, and he was a beast in the first half of that Super Bowl. Gronk doesn't "need" surgery in the sense that he has to have it to play on Sunday. From what I understand, he just needs it to be scoped out.

Exactly. Has she examined his ankle? No. Has she seen a CT scan or an MRI? No. She just made up some BS for the media, because that's what the media wants--a headline.

If it was that bad, at the very least he'd still be in a boot, and he'd have one hell of a limp.

I love how people talk about "ligament damage." Of course there's ligament damage... that's the definition of an ankle sprain. The point is that there's a huge variation in severity with ankle sprains, so unless you've actually examined the injury, you're literally making a wild guess about recovery time.
