In the first Giant game, on defense"
DL-
Deaderick was playing in his 2nd game after just 15 snaps the week before
Ellis was out
Haynesworth was in
Carter was in
Anderson played 19 snaps
Brace played 15 and Warren 17

Looks like the difference is Deaderick should be better, Ellis is available, Andeson instead of Carter, and anyone instead of Haynesworth who was the worst player on the field for the 9 snaps he got

LB-
Mayo was in his first full game back from injury after limited play in week 8
Spikes played 39 and was injured before the end of the game
Ninko played 49
Guyton played 26
Tracy White played 7 awful snaps in crunch time
Fletcher did not play

We will be much better at LB in the SB than that day

DB-
Arrington and McCourty played 141 snaps in 72 plays, All by McC and all but 3 for Arirington
Philip Adams was the only nickel corner, playing 35 snaps. No other corners played
Chung played every play but 1, Barrett (1st game back from injury) 39 and Ihedigbo 33 split the other, and Sergio Brown play 1 fateful snap.(the one Chung was out)

So we played base 37 plays, nickel 35 and dime ZERO. That is very, very interesting. We did not play 6 DBs on any plays and only 4 on more than half.

I think no Adams and no Barrett makes us better in this game than last, with Moore replacing Adams, and Ihidigbo replacing Barrett.

Offensively, it is also interesting
At RB it was:
Woodhead 42
BJGE 29
Ridley 4
This could be totally different on Sunday

85 played 18 ineffective snaps at WR and Solder 23 at TE

This game may have been more out of character for our offense than any other this year.

Also, Hernandez's role has changed.......he's an automatic matchup problem when he lines up in the backfield. You almost have to play a 3-4 to account for him there......the 4-3 forces a max of 6 in coverage or he will be wide open

This was the game Chung was injured in, no? Are you sure he only missed one snap?

Yes. He missed the one that Brown came in and got the pi call.

That final drive was so eerily familiar. I hated it. Especially the touchdown. Different players, different field position, but it looked almost identical.

If I remember correctly, wasn't this Hernandez first real playing time after being somewhat banged up himself and not fully 100%.

It was even more frustrating because we were playing defense with a lot of specual team players out there.

Yup, we had burned through Spikes and Guyton, stuck with White covering their top TE in the endzone, Brown on the field for that PI call.

Our DB should be improved....but the Gints O should be better also with WR's healthy now.

Key will be our DL getting to Eli consistently and stopping their running game.

This was a great catch by the OP. Thanks for posting this.

Brady is healthy this time

Both teams r completely different. I am a giant fan and hold no stock in that first game....It will be who ever does not turn the ball over will win....Also...if we get to Brady we win. If we dont u win...But on the other hand u guys have to get to manning or it could be a very high scoring game with the winner getting the ball last.....Danny

AJ, one of the things that's been forgotten was how well the Pats D played for most of the first 3 quarters. It is interesting to note that part of that improvement was due to Barrett's play. He didn't play much this season, but he showed in that short 39 snaps that he might have made big difference if he had stayed healthy.

BTW- IIRC I thought Brown played most of the last 2 drives, not just one play. Can I get a confirmation one way or the other.

Giants didn't have Hakeem Nicks or Ahmad Bradshaw for the first game.

All things equal ......... I think that this right here will equal out all the upgrades we have on defense. Bradshaw is a negligible improvement, but adding Nicks puts pressure on our defense, big time.

But the point is, not having ST'ers out there will vastly improve our defense and that is true. When all is said and done, I say the Giants score similar points as they did against us initially (say between 20-24).

It really comes down to offense. We only scored less then 25 points in 4 out of 18 games. We averaged 35 in the last 10 games and only scored less then 30 in 2 of them (Miami and the Ravens.......... both of whose defenses are statistically much better the Giants).

If Brady comes out and our offense has a anything above an average day (in protection and execution)....... We win going away (35-24ish). We execute like we did against Denver and this game is a blowout.

We come out flat and play average......... It'll be a "two-minute warning drill" kinda game and will come down to whoever makes the last mistake or has the ball last (just like the Ravens game and the first game with the Giants).

Brady comes out throwing ducks, or he's not protected well.......... We have little chance of winning.

It really is as simple as that.

I understand what you guys are sayin'. It's safe to say that both teams are different entities since that November game. I don't think your defense now is as "bad" as some of these dummies in the media are trying to paint it as. I actually think that it's being underrated. Our running game has gotten a bit better than it was portrayed most of the regular season.

It should be a close game and whoever wins field position/turnover battles should be able to take it home. I'm partially concerned about our kickoffs, while we cover kickoffs pretty well Tynes isn't exactly a rocket leg who gets many touchbacks.

Brady on a shorter field = no thank you.

You will not see a bunch of third down incompletions intended for Chad Ochocinco this game.

I actually hope that EightFive is inactive tomorrow. Something about that guy just makes me think he could randomly catch an 80 yard TD in the SB after doing nothing all season (playing possom?) that is something Ocho would do.
