So like...when did the Giant's defense become the 85' Bears?

Very talented D-Line, that can be neutralized by a good offensive line. I think our line in 2011 is better than 2007. Also, I think we will see draw plays and screens to neutralize the G-Men's pass rush. Their front 4 is the key to their D. Their LB's and DB's aren't great. They also finished with a worse run defense than the Pats, so the Pats should be able to run on them. Should be an interesting chess match.

The devil is in the details. I'm just wondering how all the mediots are going to spin this when the Pats win. The one thing I'm sure of, the spin will include very FEW mea culpas

I think they will totally flip and minimalize the win because they "only" played the Giants. If it had been the Packers, Saints or Niners they clearly would have lost.

Some Giants fan said Perry is in Bill's head for holding us to 20ppg the last 5 meetings.

Now I replied, how can you be in the head of a guy who has outscored your D in 4/5 meetings? The only time he didn't outscore him was due to a BS play by Sergio Brown.

I have respect for what NY has in D-lineman...and they've had a nice playoff run. I was in awe of the pressure they were able to bring in 2007.

But this has gotten ridiculous.

It's very simple. If the Giants are able to bring pressure on Brady it's going to be a tight game similar to 07'.

If they can't, well it's going to be a long day for them. Their D, unlike the Ravens' that has some smart, instinctive guys like Lewis and Reed, depends on pure athleticism from all those DE's.

They are one trick ponies. Granted, they excel hugely in that one trick.

I like our O-lines chances against them this year...

Nobody is comparing them to the 85 Bears.

I think you missed the OP's point. He's half-joking. The media has been "pumping the tires" of the Giant's D all week that they're making them seem unbeatable...like the '85 Bears D.

Aaron Rodgers had one of the best seasons ever by a QB and the Giants D absolutely humiliated him and the Packers O in Lambeau.

'Nuff said.

So....the Giants Defense was responsible for Finley and Nelson dropping balls that hit them in the chest, while being wide open?

Letting GB's 27th rank rushing attack run for 150 yards was dominating? The Packers pooped all over themselves in that game. Did the Giants defense play a part? Yes. Were the unforced errors by the Packers a bigger factor in the Giants win? Yes!

Receivers were so horrified by the damage the Nascar package was doing in the backfield, that they were left in awe and just gave the catch up so the Giants would have mercy on their quarterback.

Yeah, I was about to say. Green Bay humiliated themselves more than the Giants humiliated them.

The Giants humiliated the 49ers too, I tellya. :D
The pats barely squeaked by the broncos. That useless Brady only threw for 6td, of which 5 in 1st half

Yes indeed... Sure we were 31st but they were only 27th in terms of overall ranking, hardly an elite defense. However all those picking the Giants cite their defense as the major reason, besides straight up hatred of the PATS I believe that this is due to people living in the past. They are thinking 2007/2008 but this will be something completely different. PATS have a good chance in a competitive game.

In points allowed we were 15th they were 25th. This is a big difference.

Every one keeps saying that the giants must pressure brady. U r forgetting something...The giants have an offense as well. What answer r u going to have for us and all the weopans we have? the key is this. I think our defense will have a better chance at stopping ur offense compared with ur d stopping our offense...Thats how i feel....Danny

It's blows my mind how a team that gave up more points than it scored this year and 400 points total can be considered great. The NY hype machine is truly in over gear this year. The Giants may be statistically the worst team to ever play in the Super Bowl.

How did the Giants become the 85 Bears?

Look at this post. That's how. There are people actually dumb to believe it.

The Packers were horrific with horrid drops/overthrows, and turnovers that occurred without Giants defenders in the same timezone.

Yet there are actually people who think it's the Giants D that "humiliated" them.

When you have these types that will believe roosters make the sun come up; you can always have every stupid concept presented and actually believed.

The Giants played determined, their pass rush was definitely getting it done and they deserve big credit for winning at a very tough venue. However, anyone who thinks the Giants defensive performance humiliated GB is simply making things up.
Prediction: If the Giants give away three fumbles including 2 deep in their own territory, drop 8 catchable passes, the Patriots get a hail mary TD at the half and the Patriots pass rush gets semi decent pressure on some plays, I predict the Patriot defense will "humiliate" the Giants offense.

Say what?? Did you even see that game?? The Packers humiliated themselves. Never seen so many wide open receiver drop so many passes.
And Rodgers looked quite rusty at times. That game brought about the big debate as to whether coaches should rest their regulars at the end of the season when they have a bye coming. That Packer performance was ridiculous.

Nevermind the 85 bears D....it's the legendary offense that has me pissing all over myself. Montana at QB to Rice,Moss,TO,Winslow Sr with Barry Sanders and Jim Brown back there. My god...

The hype has been hilarious hasn't it. The Patriots are going to blow up quite a few New Yawwwk myths tomorrow. Can't wait!! :D

BTW that legendary Giants D has never faced this Patriot hurry up offense. The Patriots did not use in when they met earlier this season and look at the numbers they put up on that Giant defense without using it. Ray Lewis called it the fastest (in terms of tempo) offense he ever played against. The only thing that's going to stop this Patriot offense is Patriot TO's.
Hang onto the ball and they win the game.

You do realize that the Pats scored 8 points more/game this season, right? And gave up over 3 points/game less?

Wait, on second thought, you probably don't realize that.

Some of this and some of Rodger's and GB's O deciding to lay a big steaming pile o' poo on Lambeau that day too.
