Ernie Adams...

Great read on Ernie Adams..

Mystery_Man_Ernie_Large.jpg

I have always heard about Mr.Adams, but he has always been kind of a mystery to me. So this article was a very interesting read...

'Football researcher' Ernie Adams is biggest mystery behind Bill Belichick's secretive Patriots - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

If any of PatFans poster with more knowledge of Mr.Adams could add on, that would be great..

Re: Ernie Adams...

Great article.

This week has been filled with some many very well written and informative articles. It's amazing what the media can do when it actually reports things..

Re: Ernie Adams...

Thanks for posting this, very interesting to hear something about the mystery man beyond that he and BB were high school buddies at Phillips Andover.

Of course, the downside to the publishing of this article is, how soon before some mediot writes/blathers "Ya know, Belichick would be nuthin' without Ernie Adams!"

:bricks:

Re: Ernie Adams...

When NFL Films had Belichick miked during the Indy game last year. He was tallking to Adams at the end of the game. If he's the one who suggests challenging calls. He needs to step it up..just kidding. He's missed a couple this year. I thought we should have challenged the Hernandez play in Denver and Gronk's play against Baltimore.

Good read. Can't wait the Belichick tell all book in about 15 years!

Re: Ernie Adams...

I think he really is a Vulcan who had plastic surgery to disguise it.

The Gronk TD in Pittsburgh is another that comes to mind.

All in all, they are very careful with those challenges, as the timeouts are extremely important to them too--and rightfully so. If it's not a good look, they choose to pass on the risk. That's just the way it is.

Re: Ernie Adams...

An article is written about him every Super Bowl... this one has a bit more info than the last one though.

Re: Ernie Adams...

laughed out loud at the briefcase story.

Re: Ernie Adams...

I live 5 minutes from Phillips Exeter Academy. I think I'll go to the football or lacrosse game against Phillips Andover, maybe catch Ernie or BB there...

The Pats won pretty much every challenge they put in this year. So, no they don't need to step up.

Re: Ernie Adams...

Adams is basically an advanced, advanced, advanced scout.

When he was with the Browns Art Modell said he'd pay someone $50,000.00 (?) if they could tell him what Ernie Adams did for the team--I'm sure most have heard the quote.

If you get a chance to read Belichick's Bio from David Halberstam there's plenty on Ernie Adams.

He's pretty much BB's best friend since prep school. Loves watching film and processes the game quickly.

We've lost a couple. Not challenging is just as important as getting one right. We gained 6yds when he challenged a spot on a tackle. Big deal. The non-challenge against Balt. might have cost us 4 points. We had to settle for a fg and it was in the first half. Ended up eating those timeouts.
