Don't know if this is old news or not, but Ocho admits that the reason he hasn't played much isn't because hes lost it, its because he just doesn't understand the system well enough to play without thinking about it. Whcih slows him down. I know that theory has been kicked around, but this validates it.

Ochocinco finds himself in odd place as Patriots strive for Super Bowl win - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

The answer is fairly simple. By Ochocinco’s own admission, he doesn’t know the offense well enough to play without thinking, particularly when New England goes to its hurry-up attack. Instead of simply reacting to situations, he’s going through the steps in his head and that makes him a step too slow.

After reading this i had a thought. Given that Gronk won't be 100% could BB throw in a few Ocho friendly plays, plays like he ran in Cinncy. It would catch the Giants off guard.

Don't you think BB would have known that about him before spending 6 mil and tying up a roster spot on him? It seems to me that BB only goes after the guys with great football minds that can pick things up quickly, adjust on the fly, and be MULTI dimensional and do many things for the team. Surely he knew that chad was not one of those guys and was always a "alright chad run to the Apple tree and cut to your right" kind of guys! I had hoped he would catch on here....he** I would put gravy on my hat and eat it if chad catches two TDs and leads this team to victory....just don't see him making it...

Don't attack the messenger, and besides early in the season they're was speculation that Ocho was having a hard time picking up the system. Maybe BB underestimated CO's ability.

Admitting that he's unable to learn the plays, after hundreds of combined practices and games can't make him the brightest bulb on the tree! He's either lazy and doesn't put in the time needed to learn it, or he's dumb as a rock.

I think CO's time of reckoning will be next years training camp. If he hasn't shown improvement by then, we'll see him gone.

Hopefully an off season and OTA's will be enough for him to get it.

You don't understand. He's not saying he can't learn the plays. He's having trouble processing all the reads and adjustments at game speed that the Pats O demands. Knowledgabe Pats fans have known this for quite some time.

I love the guy and will be rooting for him, but if Ocho thinks it's hard to beat out Branch, wait until he needs to beat out B.Lloyd to get on the field.

I think he's going to make a big play on Sunday. Maybe even worth the six mill.

Why is your sig upside down?

Not really. The system doesn't fit him. It's just the type of athlete that he is. Ochocinco is like Manny Ramirez - see it, hit it. Ramirez worked hard and did what he had to to keep his edge. Ocho's worked hard here, too, but he's not Welker or Branch. This system does not rely on guys just being more physically gifted than everybody else.

Belichick thought he was signing a guy like Moss who was both, but he missed on this guy. We've seen lots of receivers come and go like this. OC's downfall was his foolish attention-getting behavior. It's great to see a guy accept a little humility and being grateful for what he's learned.

He'll be released next week. Buena suerte, Ochenta y Cinco.

I don't believe cutting Ocho in a week vs. cutting him in Preseason would save much money. As hard as Ocho works in the off-season, combined with full OTAs and training camp, I could see him developing the necessary familiarity with the offense to perform well. Bring him in, let him compete. If he "gets it", the dividens could be huge.

We really don't know how far along he is yet. As was mentioned, he'd still have to beat out branch to see much playing time.

It's what's been said all along. He's too psyched out about it, too in his head.

I don't think this is an intelligence problem - though the Patriots do expect a ton more from their WRs than most teams.

I don't think this is an effort problem - the team has said over and over he's giving good effort.

It's a confidence problem. And it's only made worse by fans who insist on calling a guy who has clearly given his all and failed 'OchoStinko' and stupid bull**** like that.

Two things stick out here to me:

1) I'd like to see how he would do with a full offseason - -OTA's, etc.

2) He's going to have to get cut and resign at a much lower salary - -THAT will be the true signal if he's serious. I'm not even sure the CBA allows that - - but the Pats aren't going to be paying him what they paid him this year.

Ocho is not getting cut. Why is that hard to understand? BB sees an upside or he would be gone already.

No one is saying he's getting cut before the SB.

But if Brandon Lloyd is here next year, and depending on that contract/guarantees/etc., Ochocinco could most definitely get cut next year.

Why can't he get cut? This is the New England Patriots you're talking about.

Why would you bring in Diva Lloyd?

Ocho only makes 1 million the next year and the year after. He's cheaper than any vet you'd sign out in FA.

Imagine Lloyd and a revitalized Ocho? It would be expensive, cuz they have to pay Welker.

He's said he'd follow Josh McD.

Randy was considered a diva too. What WR isn't, not counting Fitzgerald. They're all nuts.

This is the Patriots we're talking about. They take chances.

And Andre Ethier says he wants to join the red sox. Players can say whatever they want but bad locker room guys always have a way of coming back out.

Ocho has been silent, purely silent. Moss was great for a few then lashed out.

Hasnt this team learned its lesson bringing in bad character guys that end up getting cut because of their attitude problems?
