Antrel Rolle: We'll Shut Down the Tight Ends, reveals Giants Game Strategy

Plenty of Wes, Deion, Julian and perhaps a little Faulk, Ocho & Tiquan too. :)
Mix in some bunch formations and send AH/Gronk in motion some. There are plenty of ways to force a team out of press coverage and to take advantage of it.

I imagine that Belichick and the Pats coaching staff are shocked, "Shocked I tell you!", to discover that the Giants are going to try to stop Gronkowski and Hernandez at the point of attack. OMG, is nothing a secret?

No other team has tried such a strategy?

Giants are like this dog. Stupid.

He's got to wrap up .

As an animal lover, I guess I'm supposed to say "Naughty, naughty" for leaving a dog by an open car window at speed, but, assuming that the pooch wasn't hurt, that was an awesome sequence!

Thanks for posting, no matter how irrelevant it might be to anything we're discussing!

And the dog was pretty darn smart in timing that jump. As RayC observed, he just didn't finish the tackle.

They didnt have this when they let vernon davis score on a 74 yard TD apparently.

Davis had 3 rec for 112 yds and 2 TD. I hope the Giants are similarly effective against Hernandez or Gronkowski.

Never been tried, I guess. That Antrel Rolle is one original football mind...a veritable Belichick-in-waiting, I'd say.

Not since Bill Walsh introduced the West Coast Offense, has their been such stunning insight into the game! Hell, it's as groundbreaking as the T-Formation, putting the QB under center and the Forward Pass all rolled into one!

Here is my theory.

The Giants defensive line had a great game in SB42, but it's not as legendary as has been stated. There were numerous plays where Brady had all day but couldn't find an open receiver. Their secondary played great as well.

Earlier this year, the secondary also played a bigger part in containing the Pats than the defensive line. Pressure wasn't the problem; lack of getting open was the problem.

This secondary is extremely overconfident that they are the greatest things since sliced bread, but they are nowhere near the Ravens and probably not as good as the Jets. The defensive line is convinced they are just going to pin their ears back and tee off on Brady all game.

Obviously, if their game plan is just to come on the field and be physically better than the Patriots by dominating at the line of scrimmage for both their pass rush and secondary/linebacker jams, they are in for a huge awakening. I'm pretty sure that in nearly 200 career games together, B and B have seen these gameplans many times.

Look for some misdirection, trickery, and draw plays.

Terrell Suggs who in spite of what many of us think of him personally is a pretty good defender. He's quick and strong. He was taking his best shot at Gronk off the line again and again and Gronk was just bouncing off of him. The Giants have a couple of guys who rival Suggs athletic ability but it's not like they have somebody who dwarfs it. If they plan on doubling him straight off the line that pretty much means you're either using one of your pass rushers to do that on a delayed rush or you use two of the back 7 which means Welker or Hernandez are one on one.

The Giants don't have somebody in the secondary like the Jets or Ravens who can both jam Wes at the line and then contain his option routes after that. They don't have a big CB to put on Hernandez. They might try with Ross or Webster on Hernandez and I wonder if they would trust that to Amukamara.

I looked it up. Dog just scarped it's paws.

Just out of curiosity, who do they have that can successfully jam Gronk (even if he's not 100%)?

Hanging out with the Giants players on Media Day or any day this week must be like being in a Charlie Brown cartoon in the classroom with the teacher talking.

That's funny cause I can see lips moving, but all I hear is "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH..." See you on Sunday chump.

You know. I was thinking about the previous Giants game and I could have sworn that they tried to jam Gronkowski and Hernandez at the line, but it didn't work out too well for them.

All this talking by the Giants is ridiculous.

It would be funny if they tried Rolle.

I was watching NFLN this morning and they were rehashing the "worst defense ever to play in the Super Bowl" stuff. They showed a chart showing the "worst," by yards allowed of course.

Guess what: If the Patriots weren't in the Super Bowl, the 2011 GIANTS would have the distinction of "worst defense ever in the Super Bowl." Instead, they're "second worst." It was right there in the chart — and no one on the set mentioned it.
