Its probably been touched on before....but I like our chances with our Oline this time.

Denver did nothing against it

Against the Ravens, Brady had great protection...just made bad decisions.

I actually like Connolly's size over Koppen's technique.

Steve Neal, Nick Kaczur and Russ Hochstein replaced by Waters, Solder, Cannon and Vollmer.

I really feel we can't ask for a better OLine than what we have and what they'll be facing in the Giants Dline.

And Mankins has been playing very well, unlike the game that shall not be named.

If anyone watches the week 9 game against the Giants check out how bad the beat up Vollmer. Maybe he was already hurt, but he gave up like 4 sacks that game.

Did he play again after that game or did he go out on injury after that?

Amazing effort from Vollmer to allow 4 sacks when the Giants only got two sacks as a team.

The OL has been very good, they allow some sacks but Brady has had tons of time in many cases against good pass rushing defenses. Interestingly Football Outsiders ranks our OL as the 2nd best for run blocking this year also.

He WAS already hurt for several weeks before that game.

That game was the point where the team decided he needed to rehab.

THIS is something I've been thinking about quite a bit. After the Giants d-linemen ate the Pats o-line alive in SB 42, I always wondered what BB, Scarnecchia and Josh would've done differently if they had another chance. Now we have that chance to find out, and with a slightly better group. I hope Vollmer is OK and that we get to see him in the jumbo lineup with Solder at "eligible" tight end.

are you sure? There were 2 sacks, non let by Vollmer, one by Matt Light to who I think was Boley, he bull rush and strip sack Brady, the other by JPP on a stunt that left him open when Waters have to help out who I think was Connolly.

according to the box score, 2 sacks, 3 qb hits...i would say that was a great effort against a great DL

I'm thinking the same thing. In week 9, Sergio Brown lost that game. Brady should be much better this time around.

IMO the '07 OL was overall better, but this offense is better suited to facing the Giants D-line. The current offense isn't as vertical which gives the rushers less time to get to Brady.

The question will be if Brady can find open receivers if the Giants just flood the short-mid level area, particularly if G-force is hobbled.

I think Solder will be the key here. He is one of the best rookie O linemen this year. He'll hold up just find against the Giants

Not sure what game you were watching, but the Giants only had 2 sacks.

I can't agree that 07' oline was better. I didn't think Kaczur was all that great back then an Neal was a serviceable guard. I think the depth and talent on this years line is a notch above 2007 at the least.

the difference is not so much with the OL as it is with the passing games that are executed.

2007 - randy moss, wes welker, and donte stallworth and no TE's to throw to.
2011 - targets that run much shorter routes. the pressure better be instant because brady isn't going to be standing around waiting for moss to get open. with the way the giants are sounding, hernandez could have a 200-250 total yards and an SB MVP...ooops, forgot about him.

sorry, but I am just not as scared of the giants defense as I was of the ravens defense

Right, that was my basic point.

It's so hard to directly compare the OL from the two seasons as they're not really being asked to do the same things.

Me neither, but I'm much more afraid of their offense than I was of the Ravens, and about equally as afraid overall as I was of the Ravens (in that I wouldn't be surprised what happens)
