"Pats dont have a chance without Gronk"

BTW- I would take what Billick says with a grain of salt, because right now he has to be one angry dude. Think about what's going on in HIS mind right now. SOOOOO many HC openings and exactly how many has Billick even gotten an initial interview? One, maybe 2.....

He'd better get used to liking his NFLN gig, because that ALL he has going for him right now. The window for him being a top HC candidate is has officially CLOSED..

The Pats don't have a chance without Dan Koppen

The Pats don't have a chance without Ras-I Dowling

The Pats don't have a chance without Myron Pryor

The Pats don't have a chance without Andre Carter

...there is always a chance with BB at the helm.

While I high-five the sentiment of this post and agree wholeheartedly, did anyone really think that the season was going to go down the tubes because we lost Myron Pryor?

I think the problem for him has to be that the reputation that he developed in Minnesota was as an offensive genius (he was, after all, the OC on that record-setting '98 offense when Randy Moss was a rookie). He then spent nearly a decade in Baltimore proving that he was most definitely not an offensive genius. Which means he is... what, exactly? A decent head coach, perhaps, since he did win one SB, although you could make a fairly compelling case that any head coach in the league could have won a SB with that defense. It also doesn't help his case that the team has become better under his successor, even with a veteran roster that could reasonably have been expected to decline.

Honestly, if I'm an NFL GM, I don't think I can come up with a compelling case to give Billick more than a passing glance.

The key to the game is our OL regardless. If they protect Brady, Welker/Hernandez/Branch will give the Giants fits with or w/o Gronk IMO. If they get beaten like a drum again vs this DL we won't do anything offensively even with Gronk 100%.

lol same talk that led up to 2007 with brady and his ankle and he played. game is going to be really close no matter what

On NFL network yesterday, Brian Billick (I think it was him) said the Patriots offense wouldn't be able to keep up with the Giants offense. He said this with a straight face, and there wasn't any Gronkowski disclaimer that this was only true if he didn't play.

Either that wasn't Billick or you misunderstood what he was saying.

If Gronkowski doesn't play a snap in the superbowl, this game is STILL going to be decided by who recovers the fumbles and who doesn't drop the picks. Its going to be as simple as that.

While there is no doubt turnovers will have a huge impact, I would restate that as the game will be decided by which team makes the plays needed in the clutch. Even if its a 14 point game, there are a handful of critical plays that you must execute to win. One team will do that better, and will win.

Pats have a chance without Gronk. It'll be a whole lot better with him but we've still got a chance.
