Giants win Madden simulation of Super Bowl

Hasn't the winner of the simulation won the last few in a row in real life? I'm not suggesting anything here for all of the people on here that like to jump at a chance to flame the next person. I'm just asking the question out of curiosity.

First a camel, now a Madden simulation. Should I start to worry?

No, my parrot picks the Pats and he hasn't been wrong since I got him in 2009.

Either one of those could have been a fluke individually, but together, yeah, you should be damn worried.

Weren't the Pats picked in the Madden sim to beat the Giants in SB42?

But the camel doesn't really count. Camels don't understand football.

They were on a roll for a while, not so much lately. IIRC, Troy Brown played the simulation and the Pats won for SB36. (I'm not a gameboy, so maybe "played the simulation" isn't right; but I seem to remember Brown was involved.)

What's the surprise here? I'd expect that the Pats would lose a simulation, with the 31st ranked D as one of the inputs into the program that played the game.

If the games were played in cyberspace, the Ravens or Steelers would be playing the Packers or Saints next Sunday.

Hey - - I wonder if the company making the confetti gets ripped off in games like this, where the teams share the same colors? No need for a separate batch with different colors, you know?

The Madden version of the game results in a vast improvement in player safety. It's the superbowl of the future.

I wonder what the REAL Madden himself thinks about this game.

I hope he feels some more goosebumps coming on :p

Speaking as a sports gaming geek, Madden isn't great for simulation purposes anyway. If you let it play 15 minute quarters, both teams get many more possessions than a real NFL team would in a full 60-minute game. That's because the AI operates quickly, so there's very little time-consuming drives. Expect more punts in one quarter than you'll see in an entire NFL game. There's no natural movement of the players, and they line up to the line of scrimmage too quickly.

Then you have to consider with these simulations if they're using the updated rosters, and if they are, are the depth charts even correct. Are the player attributes updated, are the game sliders pertinent to the simulation, etc. I have Madden 12 and the Patriots rarely use 2 TE's when the CPU is playing, so yeah. Don't rely on Madden. :D

Don't worry, guys. I spent a few hours making accurate 2011 Pats/Giants rosters for Madden 08 on the PC and I do sims as well. So far, a close Giants win and a close Pats win, but Brady hasn't been especially productive in either game.

Since I know you were all worrying so much...

@the poster above me: The packages have actually been pretty accurate for me, except no D-Line rotation (just starters all the time) and the Pats use Polite a bit too often. Besides that, I'm actually impressed with how often it simulates the Pats going with 2 or 3 TEs.

Exactly what I was going to post. Who cares what they predict on Madden
