Bedard: How the Redskins Beat the Giants TWICE this Season

Bedard is the man.

How to make a trip to Mobile pay off. Bedard gets it while so many of his peers are chasing their tails looking for easy filler this week.

I am about to read it and I hope he adds the bunch of drops by the Giants WRs as well.

Blueprint!!

Great read, pretty interesting. And I had forgotten Sergio Brown was in the game until I watched the NFL Replay the other night and saw him doing that nice PI in the End Zone. Also, Tracy White was the person covering 85 (his name escapes me) who scored the game winning TD, but wasn't it White's first play of the game? I've noticed White on the field sometimes and he looks better. As long as we don't need to rely on him (or Sergio Brown...Dear God No) for long stretches I think things will go better this game.

I wished he talked about the Giants 27th ranked defense and how the Patriots can exploit it, especially the secondary. Obviously we all know the DL is very good at pass rushing. Are they also good vs the run? Why did they give up so many yards/points this year? Was it all b/c of injuries???

Reading the article makes me wonder how much of those 2 games were watched by the Pats this week.

For what its worth, a couple little things on how to beat the Giants.

1. Have the CBs play a little more aggressively.. look for the ball and play for the pick...

...especially if we find we are just trading touchdowns and aren't stopping the passing game. I really feel like this game is going to come down to a turnover margin for either team.

2. Cover the check-down. Cover the check-down.

3. Send the Wilfork into late surprise cover (the check-down). :)

4. Intercept those damn I'm under pressure, I'm going to close my eyes and frantically throw up the ball throws by Manning.

5. Don't drop potential interceptions!

6. Win it for Myra!

Broken down, disssected, picked out all the useful bits, and adapted to the Patriots personnel and how BB thinks they'll come after the Patriots.

Jake Ballard. 2nd year TE. UDFA.

In week 9 we already were taking cues from the first Giants-Redskins game, using plenty of play-actions, not so much to freeze the Giants secondary, but to force them into a read and react form of defense.

FWIW I remember seeing this a while back:

2. My quick armchair coaching diagnosis of what is wrong with Eli Manning: he still makes his last pre-snap look right at his primary target on every single pass play. DeAngelo Hall told me that five years ago and it is still true. At 30 years old, it is safe to say he will never fix it. Watch the final interception and see the entire Seahawks defense cheating to Victor Cruz because of it.

Sounds like keeping Cruz and Nicks from hurting you deep is not letting Manning get out of the pocket. So lane discipline is a high priority.

Pats can run on the Gaints also, some no huddle to wear down the Giants rushers.

I also forgot we lost Chung and Spikes in that game, that alone will help the D.

The Giants are only allowing 5.3 yards per attempt over their last three games, which would make them the #2 pass defense in the NFL. For comparison, the Ravens allowed 5.6 over their last three games.

They aren't good against the run. In fact, they're allowing 5.0 yards per carry, which is horrible. Establishing a running game will be key in the Super Bowl. The Patriots have a far better run defense.

7. If you have the option of kicking a long field goal on 4th and long and you don't think your kicker can make it (even though you're in a dome), punt the ball.

A balanced offsensive attack will be key against the Giants. We need to run to develop play action. If Brady goes back to pass 40+ times we're dead. I do like the thought of keeping Manning in the pocket. he can get flustered with inside pressure and that's when he makes his mistakes. We need to remember the Giants lost 7 games this year. 7 !!!!!!!!! They're hardly unbeatable.

If the Pats pass more than they run in this game, BOB should be fired by Penn State before he even gets one game in over there.

The ring is there for the Pats' taking if they commit to the run. They are playing Russian Roulette if they plan on dropping Brady back 35+ times against the four sprinters on their line.

I believe passing the rock is our bread and butter. I think the key is to make sure we do not get into long 3rd downs. I also believe that we need to keep them honest with a few runs mixed in. Just like what Belichick would do , we do not want to be one dimensional. This is what we always want to do against good defenses ..... it all comes down to execution...and nothing else.....

easier said than done...

Take no prisoners......

There will never be a game we run more than pass without 40mph sustained winds or a 30+ point lead. Ideally, I'm looking for 55% pass 45% run at worst. Giants can be run on, but expecting a PASS FIRST team to run the ball more is just silly.

We will run far more than SB42, count on that, but BOB will not call more run plays than pass. If he does that with TB, WW, AH, and RG, THEN he should be fired upon arrival.
