Gronkowski expected to have surgery at season end

This guy plays in the SB as if nothing's wrong and then it'll be addressed. He's 22, as close to bionic as there is, there's two weeks of rest and good modern medicine "freeze shots." The yahoos in NJ are pissing their diapers praying that Gronk's out. Not happening. The NY media are setting an all-time record for ball-washing a home team. The Pats are given no chance of winning this game by them and most other "experts." Just the way I like it. Sit back and enjoy it.

As long as it isn't before the season ends, there's absolutely nothing to worry about.

Earlier today Ordway said that his sources (and he does have them via Patriots Monday and Friday) told him that the improvement in Gronk's ankle over the last few days alone was amazing.
On one of the shows on one of the ESPNs while they were talking about it they were saying some teams have special blood plasma machines which they can spin the blood around and separate out the blood plasma then re-inject it in the hurt area to really help the healing process. I probably didn't type that right, I'm not a doctor, but I would guess Gronk has had some high tech assistance; if the Patriots don't have this machine - although I bet they do - then Mass General certainly will.

Listen up, he will get injected with painkilling medication before the superbowl, and he will play. Will he be 100%? Probably not, and even if he doesn't play, the motto is, NEXT MAN UP. Have some faith fellas, much of Gronks success is due to our stud quartberback anyway, im not saying gronk isnt a physical specimen, but Brady will spread the ball around nicely. Our offense is the least of my worries for this game....

I know its a different position and different injury but Mayo was back in a few weeks after a MCL Sprain

This.

I mean, whenever Gronk has been kept relatively quiet, Hernandez seems to have a massive game and vice versa.

I'm not worried even if Gronk doesn't play...we still ahve the weapons.

Crystal ball says....

In order to achieve added stability to the ankle, the Pats doctors will sew his skin to the Inferior tibiofibular joint.

Unfortunately, some blood may appear on his sock.

Because of the added support, Gronk has a monster game: 10 catches, 183 yds, 3TDs & and a Super Bowl MVP trophy.

Does the sock go to Canton, OH or Patriots Place? :D

Goddam Cheatriots are at it again...

He absolutely plays. Bank on it. And not at a very reduced rated, if any, either.

New Procedure Uses Athletes’ Own Blood to Treat Injuries - NYTimes.com
Note this article is 3 years old - the platelet injections are becoming fairly routine therapy from what I am hearing. Duke Medicine is advertising their leadership in this area on ESPN radio in this area.

Heard about that, I believe Peyton Manning traveled to Germany to have this done. I forget who else but I know I've heard of a few other top caliber athletes getting this procedure as well.

I think it was Switzerland but yeah.

Likewise. Remember sb 36 against the Rams? The Pats had no business being in it according to the yakking heads.

How was Ed Reed's ankle sprain last week?

Big Ben had a high ankle sprain and it lasted the rest of his season. Gronk doesn't have to plant and throw, but must plant and spin.

Don't forget, Big Ben is a gunslinger who fought thru the pain...lol...:bricks:

As a guy who has sprained my ankles about 4-5 times on each side, I have a little personal history on it. It's to the point now where my ankle ligaments are so stretched that it's hard to sprain them anymore. I role them, shake it off and it's like nothing happened. I sprained my right one about three weeks before getting drafted by the Tigers and tried throwing in front of cross checkers in that 3 week window and it definitely hurt my stock, could not push off the mound - I'm bitter against the sprained ankle.

Where most sprains are cause by landing funny/rolling it, what separates his is the fact there was another human being on it forcing pressure upon it when in the sprained position - that's a bit scary given how painful a sprain can be with no assistance.

Not sure where a scope comes into play with a sprain other than if it those ligaments were so stretched that they pulled microfragments of bone of where the ligaments attaches - bone spurs.
