The Ravens forums are currently full of threads about various excuses as to why they didn't win and that it isn't their fault.

Here is a selection of the excuse threads:

Brady's first non-INT should not have been a flag:

What Is Classified As A Touchdown When The Receiver Is Standing Up? - Ravens Official Message Board

I don't know who is worse, Ravens players or fans. None of them can ever accept a loss was either the result of poor play by the Ravens or good play by the opposition. There's always some conspiracy or excuse.

I don't blame them for dwelling on the game because the season is over for their team, but why should Patriots fans care about this at this point? The game is over and have moved onto the SB.

Any threads about the Ravens' headsets going out in the first quarter?

I think the Ravens are having trouble with their headsets

Harbaugh was talking to the communication people. There's a lot of scrambling going on.

I could care less about any of that nonsense at this point. We'd probably be doing the same thing if we lost the game. It's not going to change anything. Four years later and I'm still pissed about how the refs didn't call offensive facemask against Toomer on the Giant's first drive in the SB. I have yet to see the NFL reverse that game and give the Pats a win. It doesn't change anything.

Hm...no talk about Webb physically abusing Edelman on the first interception? What he did on that play must be illegal in at least 20 countries.

Whatever gets them through the long offseason.

Great idea for a thread, it can serve as a catalog of all Raven Owner, / front office/ coach/ player/ mediot/ and fan excuses for time eternity, that way if they run short in the future we can call this up and provide them with the needed material.

They say owners and their dogs tend to look somewhat alike over time (in which case my black hair will have to turn blond, but I digress).

I guess fans start to take on the persona of the team.
Ravens will coplain about the officiating.
Patriots won't get too much into trash talk and be looking for the next game.
Jets...well let's not go there (see above).

Feel free to add to the list

No different from any board in the league after any loss, at any time.

I'm sure the same happened here in the 06 AFC title game in Indy. I think any fanbase would do the same. It was a very close game, and their season's over because of it. They're gonna stew and over-analyze every aspect.

Meanwhile, the New England Patriots have a date with Eli and the Giants for Superbowl XLVI. Forgive me if I could care less about the whining of a defeated opponent.

I don't love Ravens fans in general, but in those threads you cited there are at least a few people pointing out that there was justification for the call the way it was.

With one exception. On the illegal contact on Welker, prior to the Pollard interception, everyone called it incidental contact. But it wasn't -- Webb reached out his arm to impede Welker, which is why he couldn't jump up to get the ball. Very clear on the replay. I could agree that it wouldn't always be called, but you can say that about most pass defense, whether a penalty is called or not.

On the final good play by Sterling Moore, he's behind the receiver with his hands on the receiver's hips or back. He's facing the quarterback. He isn't impeding the receiver, just keeping track of him. The way the game was called in general, that shouldn't be called, and the refs tend not to call penalties at the most crucial times. But I've seen it called in some games.

There were a ton of penalties that could have been called that weren't. A few were.

But the Ravens fans aren't nearly as bad as so many fans.

Who cares? The ravens are done and over with. No point in even talking about them anymore.

Now we have this crap to add to the tuck rule crap ... any moron fan that thinks about this crap for a lifetime needs their head examined. That being said why couldn't Rodney knock that ball off of Tyree's helmet ... :p:p:p

Brady's first non-INT should not have been a flag:

Blah blah blah blah blah Pass me a tissue

Bad spot on Boldin's fumble out of bounds:

The spot was on the money. Next complaint.

Scoreboard caused confusion :)rolleyes:):

Controlled by the NFL. Take a look at the sticks if you don't know what down it is. Morons.

Evans drop should have been a TD:

Lifted his rear foot when he caught it. Got his front foot down but never got the rear foot down before the strip. Great defensive play.

It's all noise. F the ratbirds and their ghetto ways. Coach and QB class acts....the rest have been crying for years. Time to move on and worry about things that actually mean something.

I don't know about the fans at home, but at the game the Refs communication devices weren't working well at all. We couldn't understand one thing that the Ref was trying to tell us...it was cutting in and out.
Once I heard that, I figured sooner or later the BB (Gillette) headset malfunction accusations would start up again.

Honestly, I don't mind it.

I, in all honesty, believe that myself (and many other posters here) would be complaining about all the little things that did not go our way in this game, had the Patriots not pulled off the win.
I still can not put 2007 to rest :bricks:

Let them wax hpothetical and share their regrets over calls, etc.

Please understand that this does not mean I don't get the OP's reason for posting this. I can definately enjoy a good WHaaaaaaaa...mburger feast, courtesy of the mouthy Ravens trolls :D

Here's a newsflash for whiney Raven fans talking about scoreboard conspiracies and bad officiating:

The touchdown that got them back into the football game wasn't a touchdown, it was a blatant personal foul that took place five feet in front of a referee somehow without notice.

Last I checked you can't grab a defensive player by the face mask from the 8 yard line and drag him at running speed like a rag doll into the end zone so that he cannot make the play.

Ravens shouldn't have even been in a position to tie the game with a kick.
Put that in your purple doo-rag.

I saw this play from my seat 60 yards away...everybody in MY section was asking "WTF is THAT?"...but the refs let a lot of crap go on both sides in the game.

Still, you are 100% correct...that HAS to be called....but...so does in the grasp for the longest period of time in all a season's worth of games...and chokeholds from behind on DL'men as they rush the passer...welcome to Goodellville.....

I've noticed that the pats have left an extraordinary amount of excuses in their wake the last 10 years.

I wonder if it's some kind of nfl record.

What's funny is in my state of boredom yesterday I tried showing them this in one of their whine fest threads but the moderator wouldn't let it through. They want their "boo-hoo we got screwed" storyline and that's that.

I hate the Ravens. Dirtiest, most despicable team in the NFL who puts locker room bounties on players and intentionally tries to injure.

I'm glad we closed the window on them. Now they'll be older, less talented, and on their way to becoming the joke of the AFC.

The Raven team as it exists today will never set foot in another AFC Championship game again. Poor them.
