In case Gronkowski's effectiveness is limited, should they sign another tight end for the passing game, or will they just go to more of a spread look with Edelman, Underwood and Ochocinco, and then use an extra OL as an extra TE in run blocking and pass protection?

??????.....If seabass plays solder is the 3rd TE...they also have Garrett Mills on the PS.

The earth would implode if instead of a 3rd TE, the Pats added Randy Moss..

What? It's been 2 days since the game, we're due.

Not sure if new or old news but scroll on NFL Network says Gronk has ligament damage to ankle.

His brother is here ,but its a moral thing as you have to cut someone to do this.who do you cut? and deny a ring.

Gronkowski came back into the game not long after he left. He'll play and be effective, he has two weeks to heal.

Don't worry people. He wouldn't have come back Sunday if he wasn't going to play in two weeks. The doctors aren't dumb. If he could do more damage he wouldn't have returned.

Gronk will play. Gronk will have a little pain. Gronk will take a shot. Gronk will beast. Quit worrying.

We could use a 3rd TE. But I think we should wait until next season.

1. I believe Gronkowski will be ready to go. Source: Gronk will be ready to go; - BostonHerald.com
A source told the Herald this morning that Gronkowski’s left ankle, which he injured on a 23-yard catch late in the third quarter, won’t prevent him from participating in the game in Indianapolis in two weeks. The source with direct knowledge of Gronkowski’s condition said simply, “He’ll be ready to go.”

2. If for some reason Gronkowski is unable to play, even with two full weeks to prepare, then it would be unreasonable to expect a street free agent to be able to contribute to the passing game. First of all if they are not on anyone's roster then they're probably not that good and/or are not in football shape, and second of all how much can they be expected to learn in that short of a period of time? Why pass the ball to a scrub you just signed rather than Welker, Hernandez, Branch, one of the running backs, or one of the other receivers?

3. That would leave the option of signing a player for strictly blocking duties. If Vollmer is ready to play you could put Solder in that position; if Vollmer can't go then you could have Cannon as the blocking TE, or he and Solder could reverse positions for a few plays. The newly signed TE would be strictly for emergency purposes.

LOL they should piss everyone off and sign Moss...Just saying! Hey, its not like he wouldn't be resourceful.

How is Crumpler doing?

Naw, Simply activate Sebastion Vollmer, and let 6-8 320# Nate Solder line up as the blocking TE...

Yes! Absolutely. We're very fortunate with injuries this year.

Can't see anything that could possibly be new there. That's what a sprained ankle is.

No indication it's anything but a normal sprain which can be three degrees of severity. Worst case it seems, is he's taped to the max and performs like any less mobile huge talented tight end. Best case, he's almost 100% Gronk. The tape will make it impossible to hurt the ankle, so he'll be able to run.

Realy don't want to put a damper on this thread but, is'nt anyone aware rosters are frozen when the play offs start. If they are not on the 53 plus PS they are locked out.

While that is certainly the most obvious choice, the question remains whether or not we'd want a very rusty Vollmer over Solder, who has been learning all year, is comfortable, and seems to be doing very well at RT.

I personally would want to keep Solder as our RT for the game. Is Sea-bass hasn't been able to go as of now, he will likely come into the game pretty rusty. On top of that, I'm not sure how effective he's been this season, even when healthy.

I don't think Vollmer plays, but that's just my guess.
