Hi all,
I know that it is sad to have superstitions, but like some of you, I have them and they are taking over as we get closer to the game. I know in the back of my mind that all these stupid things I am doing really have no bearing on how the patriots will play and weather or not they will win, but I cannot seem to stop myself. So here is what has taken over my life

1. I have not had a hair cut in almost 3 months and let me just tell you I am not an attractive man with all this hair.

2. I have only shaved once since the playoffs started and that was only because I had to go to a work functions of my wifes and she was actually going to divorce me if I didn't, and I believed her.

3. I have a stupid hand held solitary game that I play all the time, but just before the chargers game I said to myself that if I win this next game I will not play again until after the superbowl because it is good luck. Not only did I win, but I had one of the highest scores of all time. I have not touched it since.

4. I have worn some sort of patriots gear every day this week.

5. I was at the gym today and again said to myself that I will shoot free throws and that will be the percentage the patriots will win (80%), I was hoping for a little better.

6. Since the free throw shooting did not make me feel all that confident, I deceided to play a game of around the world (patriots vs. giants) The patriots got up big early, only to have the giants storm back to tie it, but in the end the patriots won by 2 shots, so that made me feel better.

needless to say, I may be going a little crazy, and my wife cannot wait to get this game over with so she can get her husband back.

Please tell me that there are other people out there with this same affliction.

Well, after Sunday, this shouldn't be a problem. Knock on wood.

You sound like a pretty normal fan to me. Don't forget, fan is short for fanatic. ;)

Hang in there it will all be over in a little more that forty eight hours. My superstitions start just Before the game starts, and don't stop unless were ahead by 3TD with two minutes to go. :bricks:

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

The thing to keep in mind is that you are so inextricably linked with the Pats that what you do (or don't do) affects how they play.

If you shave for example, the football gods, seeing that, might smite the Pats.

You are at the center of it all.

I just hope he hasn't bathed and washed away all the good luck that's been accumulated.

Better?

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

That's pretty funny stuff.
Oh, were you serious?
Well just 2 more days until you can end your superstitious activities!

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

I'm trying to get ALL of my work done in case I don't make it in Monday the 4th. The sun might not rise on the 4th, you know.

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

You are not alone.

I have my own issues as well. I will not reveal them here. But just know that nothing on your list suprises me at all!

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

I've always wondered where you draw the line with superstitions. You nitpick certain stuff while ignore others? What if you forget to repeat that 7 word phrase you said 21 hours 4 minutes and 45 seconds before kickoff of the SD game? How about your breathing pattern! You also have to make sure the temperature in your house is exactly the same, and don't forget that the oxygen levels have to be the same too.

How about you eating habbits? Especially with what you drink. You HAVE to drink in the same way, too. If you finish a beer in 27 minutes, you can't then drink it in 26 minutes for this game.

You gotta be consistent if you wanna be superstitious!

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

I've worn the same Pats hat everyday for the entire season.

Re: HELP!!!My superstitions are out of control!

glad to see I am not alone, I hope that all this wacky stuff is worth it. good luck to all on sunday! GO PATS!!!!!

Couples divided

Is anyone dealing with a boyfriend who likes the Pats and his girlfriend liking the Giants, or vice versa?

Dan O'Brien ... . Doesn't ring a bell as a former Patriots player or cultural refernece. But Google says there's a reporter who works for the Boston Herald who has that name.

Edit: Or, maybe you're the famous former decathlete!

Do you think there is some cosmic pool out there that draws or pulls from our mind/deepest wishes? That luck is generated from faith and or believe and distrubted to the object we are focused on?

No matter what, the sun will rise tomorrow and you'll be ok. And definitely think about getting your wife something nice for putting up with you. That's why we usually have man-caves.

I'd say some of this is normal and probably a little bit overboard, but it's part of our character. Best of luck and Go Patriots!

*Bills 2003 lost-won last game went to SB, 2011 ditto,

*week 9 vs G-men pats lose in similar fashion,

*montana had 3 1- dones riddled with media doubt until he went on to win 2 more SB's, Brady had 3 playoff losses/media doubt.

*2012 TB#12's year, I like the way it sounds

*07 I gobbled up the media hype(just dumb), 2011 can't look at it, although from what I read here it seems somewhat reversed.

*all over ALP's prediction thread scenario

I'm just short of poking an Eli voodoo doll with an a spear

If they suffer a beatdown or lose in a similar fashion I'll probably be wearing a strait jacket in a padded room typing with my nose in the looney bin thread with Keyzor. Until then I'm having fun.;)

Every SB year, just for fun, I make a 'voodoo' doll out of a dollar store plush creature. I'll be sure to make a spear to use on "Gingerbread Man-ning" :D

Haha, that was a very random bump of this thread.
