Listening to WEEI Mut and Merloni.

Apparently the conversation that Eli may be better than Brady has crept up and most people are now chosing Manning. I will agree that Eli is the hotter QB coming into the Superbowl and has gotten better but better than Brady? Really?

I think people are putting too much stock into one bad game Brady had last week with the Ravens. There is also a poll on the page asking, "Who's the Mann? Which quarterback would you want leading your team?" Eli is beating Brady 65% to 31%. I like Manning but are we ready to say we'd take him over Brady right now?

This is no longer about who’s an elite quarterback, who’s not, we have talked that one to death all season. This is about more than that, something more important: Who the best quarterback is right now.

For my money it is Eli Manning.

When 9-7 is better than 13-3 there's something wrong lol

You realize that the more hyped quarterback ALWAYS ends up losing (unless you are going against Rex Grossman) right?

Last year, Ben Roethlisberger was supposedly about to surpass Brady's legacy.

The year before, Peyton Manning was supposedly about to be crowned GOAT, bar none.

The year before was a legitimate argument that Kurt Warner was a top-5 all-time QB.

2007, you might remember that one.

The Super Bowl has a way of settling things into their natural order. We'll see what the big game does to E Manning and Brady; I have a hunch, but we'll see.

The funny this is that people are seriously saying that if the Giants win, Eli should go to the Hall of Fame.

Umm, why? Eli has never led the league in anything other than interceptions in his career. When you compare him to his contemporaries, like Brady, Peyton and Brees there's no way he gets into Canton...unless he buys a ticket.

Anyone that would seriously prefer Eli Manning over Tom Brady as the QB of their team does not know very much about football.

Using NY Daily News readers to determine who is better between Brady and Eli Manning is like using the Indianapolis Star to determine who is better between Brady and Peyton Manning...

Don't put too much stock into a New York Newspaper.

this convo has been everywhere. I don't think this is a knock on Brady but just a compliment to where Eli has developed to.

The one thing about Eli is that he is abig game player. He thrives in the spotlight for the most part. I think thats all they are saying.

I think that you basically can't choose one over the other right now and this amazes people that they are even suggesting Eli in the same catagory as BRady in the same year that Eli stuck up forhimself and said he considered himself to be on Bradys level and everybody laughed at him.

Apparently 9-7 record, with a very good defense, better wrs, arguably better rbs, a lower completion %, less yards, and 29tds vs 19ints...
Is better than...
13-3 record, with a much maligned, statistically awful defense, slow wrs (much better te's though), higher completion %, more yards, and 39tds vs 12ints.

Then lets just throw in the injured shoulder for good measure.

God damn, the ghosts of 2007 will forever haunt this team and its fans.

Two weeks of this sht. :bricks:

I agree. I admit, Eli has definately changed his game and is an awesome QB but what depicts an "elite" QB is consistency. You cant come off a 25 pick season, then go play like this and suddenly become better than Brady or elite. Now if he comes back next season and has a season similar to this one then I'd be ready to name him elite.

This was more of a breaking out season.

our defense was pretty putrid for the first 15 weeks of the season.

but we def have better WRs and RBs, but you guys have a very special offense which is in general hard to defend. You have two tight ends who are nearly impossible to match up with

and I would like to add that our offensive line and RBs have been hurt ALL year

If i wanted a QB to build a team around i dont think there's any doubt who is the QB i'll pick - Tom Brady obviously. but as of now, if i had to chose one of them while behind and the game clock points 1:45 i'll pick Eli. Brady is still a clutch player but i'll just go with Eli.

I like watching insanity manifest itself. It lets me know who to avoid.

the 25 pick season is dramatically over blown. I mean Breez threw for 21 picks 2 years ago and was still considered elite.

Kevin Gilbrides offense NATURALLY causes a high INT rate. He was the OC in Houston with the Oilers and in Jax and Warren Moon and Mark Brunell BOTH had their career highs in INTs with his offense. (something along those lines, i researched that stat a while ago)

Its alot of on the move route reads, which naturally causes more picks.

Nothing against Tom Brady, but Eli Manning is the best quarterback playing in Super Bowl XLVI.

I guess people forgot Brady's record-tying and breaking performance against the Broncos a couple of weeks ago...

At least 5 of those picks where bounced right off the WR's chest, as well.

People make too much of the debate. Brady will no doubt be a higher-ranked QB, and possibly the GOAT, when all is said & done.

Eli has just proven himself in big games, where Brady has been shakier of late. If he throws a pick in the SB and Brady throws the winning TD, that perception changes, but right now, that's the perception.

yea I agree. I think thats what makes this all so confusing

actually it was more like 7-8 balls. I've NEVER seen anything like it before

I agree. I think its safe to say that right now, nobody has the advantage going into this one game.

And I agree.. but what if Eli throws the game winning TDs this game? Then what does that do to perception, in your opinion? Just curious
