How come NO Mediots are talking about how "Lucky" the Gints were to have the 49er Punt returned FUMBLE the ball IN OT on their own 24 yard line....SETTING up the chipshot FG for the Gints to win it????????

All I have heard ALL day on BSPN (and NFL Network) is how the Pats were lucky that Evans dropped the ball....and how lucky we were that Cundiff hooked his try for a FG to tie it up....and that we "lucked" into a win.... How about Moore pulled the friggin ball away from Evans to start with????

All I hear about the Gints today......Eli is elite.....His performance was legendary.....They outplayed the 49ers......They took the game away from San Fran.....Talk about BIASED reporting and coverage.....

I guess this is bulletin board material....but just pissing me off!!!

GO PATS! WIN IT FOR MHK!!!!

They need something to talk about. Whatever. I'd rather have the Pats as the underdogs. Let 'em talk.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

The Giants are in the Super Bowl because of 2 dumb plays by the same player on punt returns, if the media want to ignore that - fine, let them write off the Patriots, the medias opinion means nothing at all.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

Sounds like music to my ears, let the Gints have a dose of overhyping hell for once, while the Pats chill unnoticed for 2 weeks.

You have to be talented and good to make it to the Superbowl.

The giants were lucky that neither of Eli's obvious INTs were in fact INTs. They were so obvious that two 49ers defenders converged n the on and knocked each other off , not once but twice. Then there was the Ref with the quick whistle who overruled a Giants fumble within their 25 yard line. Don't forget the lucky fumbled Punts too. They are here but only buy the skin of a few lucky bounces and calls.

I don't think the Giants D line is as good as it was in 2007 and their secondary and LBs are definitely weaker. On Offense their O-line is mediocre and that is being generous. Eli has three WRs who can catch but that's all.

The Pats O-line is much better and much deeper than in 2007 or even early this season. The passing game is more diverse and more quick undermining a pass rush. the Pats can run the ball now with depth, something that was marginal in 2007.

The Defense has two Pro bowlers in the secondary, a Probowl LB and a Probowl DT/NT. Quality in each department. That is not just chicken Feathers, but some chicken salad talent.

Pats win going away. 30+ to 15ish....

It's been all over the place, all day long.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

I'll answer the OP's question with another question:

In a season when 21 of 32 teams had losing streaks of three games or more, and 30 teams lost at least one game by double digits, how do they ask if the coach of one of the two teams that did neither has been "passed by"?

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

True, that SF D was punishing though...impressive. Too bad their O was bleh.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

One thing that's slightly annoying me and that's the description that Evans dropped the ball. I happen to think it was Moore making an outstanding play slapping the ball away from Evans just as he's about to secure the catch.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

Just rewatched the game.

It's easier to give that jive than to admit the Ravens were physically dominated and that a "normal" Brady would have produced a 3 TD blowout.

The dirty secret is Ravens like San Diego fall short for a reason.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

Guys, if you're going to get this pissed ONE DAY after the AFCCG, I would strongly recommend just not watching ESPN for the next two weeks. You know there are like a billion other channels, right?

Greetings,
Both PTI and around the horn have gone on about how lucky both teams were to play in the Super Bowl and the Ravens and 49ers both beat themselves. In all honesty, the only thing that matters is the final score.

i heard the same thing all day long and this is what makes espn unwatchable and unlistenable. espn's on a new kick now. the best team did not win our game yesterday. they're just ticked that we won. i think most of those clowns at espn have an acct. at ganggreen or ji.

That's not new. They are recycling the 2001 script. Hence, I do not watch BSPN any longer.

A more accurate description would probably be that Evans was lazy with ball security and allowed Moore the opportunity to knock the ball free by not taking better care, but that's not as easy to say, and it's not as 'sexy'.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

I've been hearing the same type of thing - The Giants are hot the team, Eli is working wonders, etc, etc. Anyone who thought Brady was off yesterday ought to should have noticed he still played as well or even better than Eli when it counted. The Ravens had scored twice in a row, the stadium was silent, his team wavering, and what did Brady do? He drove down the field for the final and winning score. He did it against the supposedly great Ravens D. Brady grabbed the game by the horns and won it for his team. After SF kicked a FG to tie it up in the 4th, Manning had four chances with the ball to go and win the game before SF fumbled away the game. What did Eli the great manage? 4 punts. The Pats punted twice in the whole game - twice. Manning had two outright INTs dropped by SF as well. That Brady didn't throw any TD's was as much about circumstance as anything else. They ran it in instead.

Might have to take a page from BB's book here and just Ignore the noise.

That's a fair description Deus and more accurate than the intimation that he simply dropped it. Moore made and outstanding play on the ball whilst Evans momentarily lost concentration.

Haha, some of you are so delusional. The Patriots generally get some damn good favoritism from ESPN. There's a reason why people here in Michigan call it the East Coast Sporting and Programming Network. Time to get a grip on reality.

Re: How come NO Mediots are talking about....

I watched ESPN, and in my opinion, the OP is being too sensitive. I saw an equal amount of coverage on the punt return fumble and the Boldin drop.

The storyline seemed to be, "Do either of these teams belong in the Super Bowl?"

Gotta love manufactured controversy.
