How do we slow down the Giants WR's?

The Giants have a pretty good WR corps, so how do we stop them... Cruz, Nicks and Manningham will be legit threats to our D... How do you see the Pats trying to isolate them... We know we could put up points but if Brady has another bad night, it might be lights out for us... :bricks:

I don't know. Giants must have asked themselves how to shut down a 593 point offense in 2007 and the unstoppable Packers this year. They found a way to do it. I know it isn't impossible.

Giants should be favored and they are playing great ,probably better than the pats. But really, look at the cowboys game in dallas, they can give up plays and points too. Just like people got carried away by brady's 6TD performance,and now our offense yesterday ,people are getting carried away by all the giant wins. They are not unbeatable.

The Pats were suspect on holding down the pass rush since the Ravens game that year... They used the Ravens game plan and brought the house on us... They have great pass rushers over there like they did in 07... We do not have that kind of pass rush, ... Sure we might get to Eli but he's not just throwing to Plex... He has multiple threats and I can not see us covering all 3 all night long espically if McCourtney is playing CB, ...

I would say hit Cruz and Manningham at the line of scrimmage as they are smaller receivers and double Nicks. I don't think the NYG OL is great by any means and their secondary is not as big or athletic as the Ravens secondary. The D Line is a problem especially if Gronk has to stay in to help pass protect.

As far the receivers go though hit at the line of scrimmage and double Nicks. Also disguise the coverages? IDK?

True, but these are speed receivers you are talking about. The Giants' offense is based on timing, much like the Packers was this year. All three receivers are very similar; they are going to try to beat you with perfectly delivered balls 10-15 yards downfield. The problem with that is that, while it is tough to stop, the offense can take itself out of the game with a few misses. This was the problem with the Pats 07 offense as well.

The Patriots' offense is much less based on speed and separation, and while they don't strike for the big play a lot, they are a lot more consistent in their drives because they rely on yards after catch, size, and power. Gronkowski cannot be shut down in the way that Nicks can; Hernandez takes high percentage passes and runs with the ball; Welker mostly runs short patterns.

The Giants might torch us, but they may find themselves with a lot of three-and-outs for lack of consistency. Eli Manning is still only a 61% passer this season, and 58% over his career.

This isn't to say the Pats can stop the Giants, but it is to say that the Giants are a more likely candidate to put a dud on offense.

McCourty played pretty good last night and has played pretty good since week 14. Our problem is Kyle Arrington. His interceptions have masked his terrible coverage ability all year and people continue to ignore his inability to cover anyone. I can't remember the amount of times I saw Arrington get blown out of the water by a Giants reciever last night.

Not to mention that our offensive line is so much better than the O-Line from 2007 it isn't even funny. This is far and away the best O-Line that we have had in the Brady era.

Giants are good. But not so good that they can't be beat. There is a reason they went 9-7 in the regular season. They have flaws.

The only way to slow down the Giants WRs is to pressure Eli.

It's definitely doable. Their o-line is weaker than the Ravens.

If we don't get pressure, it's lights out for the Pats.

Despite not having a particularly good game and missing a lot of easy passes, Flacco put up 300 yards against the Patriots defense yesterday. It's not likely to be about slowing down the Giants receivers as much as it will be about pressuring Eli and getting a couple of turnovers.
