First off I love that we have a pass rush, we use to ask can he rush the passer about every player. Between him and carter they got 20 sacks through out the season. However watching last night when Anderson had to drop in coverage he looked lost out there allowing the TE a TD.

Also when he rushes the QB he tries to use his speed to beat the OT who seemed to force him past the QB but also left a huge space for Flacco to move into an extend a play. Flacco didn't really take advantage of this but I am sure Eli will. He need's to contain more or the DE need's to do so allowing Anderson to get after the QB.

Still a way better pass rusher than Nink. I'm sure we all expect him to suck at pass coverage. He is a 4-3 DE

Give him a break. It's his first time in his career, playing 3-4 OLB. He's a hell a lot better than useless TBC. He tries his best to defend the run. Learning how to cover is hard for a DE going to OLB.

Why the hell would we drop our best pass rusher into coverage? On their 1st td we rush 3 and Flacco slides to the side 95 would have been coming from and has enough time to scan the field. We rush him. Doubt he throws a td.

I thought they moved mark anderson on the left side and Niko on the right .....

We had crummy contain on Flacco, who wound up doing one heck of a Ben R. imitation (only without the limps).

Yea I still think he's a lot better than Ninkovich, who is extremely mediocre to me.

This. It was a stupid defensive call.

Greetings,
There were a few plays where Patriots defensive lineman won their matchups and shed their blocks, but where too slow at getting to Flacco and a few times he ended up making the completion. A few Kyle Love and Brandon Deaderick plays come to mind. As much as I really like both players and they are especially beneficial against the run, I would like to see more speed up there. Especially against Eli, he can move around so well in the pocket, even with being touched.

Dropping Anderson into coverage is just stupid. About as bad as putting Arrington at DE and blaming him for not getting to the QB.

Mark Anderson definitely took himself out of some plays by relying solely on his speed, but he also had a few very good finesse moves . . . his spin moves was downright lethal on a few plays where he was inches from a sack.

why ofcourse anderson looks good. nin is 20 yrds down covering those TE. you realize the TE had 40 and 50 catches each and nin was in coverage on these guys right?.Nin is setting the edge too when anderson is running upfield.

anderson is good but carter was tremendous ....

This is who Mark Anderson is. When the Pats first signed him, there was plenty of discussion and most fans knew what they were getting: a valuable role player as a situational pass rusher.

Anderson was a rookie sensation in Chicago, putting up big sack numbers as a situational rusher. So the next year they installed him as a starter, and his career rapidly declined. He's not strong against the run, and certainly not in coverage.

In other words, we miss Andre Carter. No knock on Anderson, he's just being asked to more than he's really cut out for.

His speed rush works for the most part but as people have said sometimes it does take him out of plays - but how many times this year has it looked like Anderson was out of the play only for Wilfork to make the QB move right into Anderson's grasp.

Another Anderson related note - how slow did Kareem McKenzie look on the Giants line? Have Anderson lined up over him and send him all game long, Eli is going to be running a lot.

I just don't get what Rob Ninkovich has to do to be raised above the "mediocre" level in fans' eyes. It is so, so hard to find a big guy who can hold his own in coverage AND setting the edge in the running game AND pressuring the quarterback. He's been invaluable.

But you prefer Anderson, the classic one trick pony?

Diehl and McKenzie both looked terrible. A matchup the Patriots will need to exploit should they want to win.

Baas looked poor as well, they certainly have match ups that the Patriots can take advantage of.

Huh? Nink has been a great pass rusher the last few games. Anyone who thinks Nink is mediocre frankly just isn't paying attention.
