Just wanted to point this out since the media keeps talking about the Giants being "red hot".


Yes, theyre a great team. Battle tested. Gritty. But still terribly inconsistent. Perhaps it was because the ball was wet and the field was slippery. I don't know. But as someone who doesn't watch a whole lot of Giants games, I was not at all impressed last night.



Eli threw 2 surefire picks yesterday. Both were botched by the same 49ers player (Dashon Goldson) being overly aggressive and running into his own team mate.

Alex Smith was easily the worst QB in the entire playoffs. Tebow is more of a threat. There was one 3 and out at the end of regulation where he missed all 3 of his targets by huge margins. He looked like a high school QB to be honest.

49ers kick returner makes a bone headed play. He had no business being near that ball when it was bouncing around.

And with all that, the Giants were still taken to overtime by the 49ers.

Then that same kick returner fumbles the ball and gives the Giants an easy FG.




Sure they beat the Packers. But last night they could barely beat Alex Smith on a bad day. Our offense will have a better game against the Giants defense than we would've against the 49ers defense.

49ers are one of the few teams that might be able to cover our dual TE's. Pat Willis is the fastest LB in the league and could run step for step with Gronk AND is athletic enough to knock away passes. They also have a good pass rush with Aldon Smith and Justin Smith. The Giants also have good pass rush but nobody to line up with Gronk and Hernandez.


Nothing else to say.... I can't wait for the Superbowl.

Ravens have Rey Lewis and Ed Reed.... Haloti Ngata in the middle.

Giants have a very strong pass rush, but they don't have an Ed Reed in the back, or a Rey Lewis in the middle. Nor is there another player comparable to Ngata in the entire league except for Ndomakung Suh.

I saw basically 4 teams that played well enough earn a trip to the Super Bowl. It really hinged on two mistakes.

Shankapotamus's missed field goal and a muffed punt.

Both the Giants and the Patriots had some ugly moments and some great ones. I expect the toughest game of the year coming up. Both of these teams are not the same teams as those that met in November.

I kept thinking watching that game that Goldson was the safety that supposedly got away...if you truly wanted a replacement for Merriweather...LOL

I am going by what I have seen the past few weeks. The Giants have had a better defense in the post season than the Ravens have had. And a good pass rush has caused Brady major issues in the past.

Evens to me seemed to relax and I believe if secured the ball that is a TD. Regardless almost ever team gets breaks to get where they are. Giants have had a few and so have the Pats.

The 49ers were a much worse matchup for us than people think, but the Giants won't be easy. In fact they're capable of blowing us out if we don't show up. Not saying they will, but they could.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. Their pass rush is slightly better than Baltimore's, but it isn't at the level it was in 2007. The LB's are horrible, with exception to Boley, and the secondary is decent but can definitely be exploited.

I saw a lot of holes in that defense that the Packers and 49ers were unable to take advantage of with bad throws and drops. That won't happen in the SB.

Not saying we'll score 30 points. I just like the matchup better than the 49ers.

I don't think the Giants were terrible, but they definitely seemed beatable. They had just as many fortunate breaks as the Pats did. They did have some sloppy play and could have have had some costly mistakes if 49er defenders didn't take themselves out.

As for Alex Smith, people thought he turned the corner because he picked apart the Saints' defense which may actually be the worst defense in the NFL.

Sorry, but their defense was a perfect matchup for our offense. Smith is good enough to move the ball on us, and their oline is much better than NYG. The 49ers can disguise and confuse Brady like the Ravens can, but the Giants aren't at that level. They play you straight up. If you stop their pass rush, it's basically just a Cover 2 defense.

I agree that the only area where the Giants are better than the Ravens is the front four. Their back seven are definitely worse. Unlike the Ravens, the Giants don't have a 6-2 CB who can cover Hernandez or Gronkowski like Jimmy Smith did yesterday.

Their back seven can be exploited if the o-line can slow down the 4 man rush.

Maybe woodhead "relaxed" on that kickoff return as well. Sorry, but I find the "Evans dropped a sure fire game winning TD pass" to be total BS. It was knocked out of his hand any way you slice it.

How much culpability the player who is stripped of the ball has on any play like that (incomplete pass, fumble, etc) is subjective and impossible to know.

My angst is not directed at you ensoul, but at the fact that many are blaming Evans and not giving credit to Moore for a good play.

LOL I don't think you've watched much of the 49ers this year. Their defense is every bit as good as the Ravens, arguably better. Maybe they allowed a few more yards (I think they were #4, the Ravens #3), but they were #1 or #2 in points allowed, and forced far more turnovers.

Plus, they were playing at home, which is huge.

I think you're not crediting the NYG and Manning enough here. I don't know that people should be sweating "style points" too much at this stage of the playoffs. The Giants won a *road* championship game against a team with a nasty D...give credit where credit is due.
