Outgained both through air and on ground, out-turnovered by -2, Tom Brady had a QB rating of 57. How did we win - character.

Hey defense, for all the ***** you've gotten this year from the media, from your fans, you won this game today. You set the tone early, you made big plays when it counted. In a game where TB and offense didn't play well(understatement), you kept this team in the game and gave it a chance to win(with some luck). Thank you.

Coaching was the difference.. BB had his team prepared, and even though some parts did not execute all that well... the team won this one.

Bunch of guys stepped up for this one..

The whole team was at least as tough as the Ravens.

Thus they could win without having any more finesse than the Ravens.

We won because Cam Cameron is a horrible offensive coordinator and Billy Cundiff choked. Could've gone either way

They hung in there made plays when they had to. Getting them all back is HUGE to gel and with two pressure PO games under their belts could bode well with confidence.

Disagree, it came to guts, we had several TOs and still won!! I'll take it. FGs aren't a given especially in pressure situations.

SB here we come. You sir, never mind. I refuse to unleash personal attacks, but you should be ashamed of yourself.

Luck, Schmuck.

It's all part of the game. Like Brady missing Gronk wide open on the 2nd series.

THIS.

The Pats shot themselves in the foot, but at least it wasn't the kicking one!

The DEFENSE held when we needed em! Awesome performance by Wilfork! This is what you need to make a Superbowl run!! :rocker:

Pats are tough. They held on. They are headed to Indy. End of Story.

This. They can win the SB 2-0 on a safety for all I care. Wins > losses. More so in this kinda game.

Was the Defense all that different yesterday

All I have heard from the national and local media yesterday was how the defense played very well at least in situations, but how is that any different than they have played most of the year. It seemed like the same defense to me. It was a defense that gave up a lot of yards, but not a lot of points and played a lot of good situational football.

I heard Cris Carter, who has trashed the defense all year, on ESPN radio give tons of credit to the defense for yesterday. But this is what the defense has been doing all year.

Funny how perceptions can change about a defense when you actually watch a game rather than make opinions based on the final stat line. If you look at the stat line yesterday and didn't watch the game, you would come to the same conclusion you have all year. The Pats gave up 398 yards and allowed Flacco to pass for 306 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INTs. But since it was the only game on, people actually watched the game and saw a defense that gave up a lot of yards between the 20s, but stepped up when it mattered.

Re: Was the Defense all that different yesterday

Or when they play a team that is considered the "most complete" in the AFC.

Re: Was the Defense all that different yesterday

It was different and here's a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

1.) Stops
The defense made critical stops when it counted.

2.) Line penetration
The DLine (Wilfork especially) played very well.

3.) Actual passes defensed
Ok, maybe in just one or two critical plays, but it's still nice to see our coverage guys get their hands in front of a pass.

4.) Tested
One huge differences was that we won without our offense carrying the game. Brady had under 300 yards and 2 INT's, so you can't say there wasn't plenty of excuses for the defense to pack it up and go home.

To be untimely and quote The Wire "Deserve got nothin' to do with it" as we pats fans know all too well.

The Brady TD was a microcosm of this season. It's been ugly, but we're getting it done. That's all you need to do.

Yes, and the defense played well Very Well most of the game. They started to run out of gas in the fourth quarter, something i thought was going to happen to the ravens D
