Bledsoe to hand off Lamar Hunt trophy if Pats win

if you need this as motivation then you aren't prepared to play the game.

You guys are a bunch of nuts, have you ever heard of the power of positive thinking?

Like another poster said, regardless of outcome, there is still a box of hats that reads "Ravens - AFC Champs!" It's not presumptuous, in a game like this you have to make plans for both outcomes.

In terms of positive thinking, you literally attract everything that you focus on. However this attraction is colorblind and doesn't depend on what you are hoping for but rather what you are dwelling on. Simply put, if you believe you can win you are infinitely more likely to. If you are instead focussed on NOT losing, the universe doesn't care about the "not" part, only the fact that you are dwelling on the thought of losing and ultimately attracts more thoughts and behaviors like this.

As fans, the only bad karma you can give is by not having complete faith in your team.

Seems like a sloppy, uncharacteristic mistake. This organization hardly ever lets info slip.

What good does it do to tell us this now? There aren't any more tickets to sell, it's not gonna effect TV ratings, any little blurb like this can be used as motivation and the surprise of Drew handing off the trophy if we do indeed win would have been much more cool had it not been announced...

If by some chance the Pats lose.....which I don't think happens.....there will be 100+ things that will be able to be pointed to as a reason for the loss....again....which I don't think will happen....but of that 100...this idea of Drew handing off the AFC championship trophy will be somewhere above that 100 items....

Bob Kraft “We’re happy he’s an honorary captain tomorrow. If we should be lucky enough to win, he’ll be the person handing the trophy off.

Bledsoe responded simply: “Really? Wow.”

That's not bulletin board material, period.

EDIT: If they think it is and that it's a sign of over confidence, they'll only be fooling themselves.

What an absolutely foolish thing for Kraft to say. Does he not at all remember the presumptuous bluster of planning to copywrite the "19-0" trademark, and the extra motivation it gave the Jints? Now those sub-human gangbangers in the Bal'more lockerroom will be foaming at the mouth, and ready to accept any # of 15-yd penalties if those penalties result in injuries to Brady, Welker, et.al.

Thanks a lot, Bob.

Yes, but you know very well that's not the way it is going to be presented and used by the Ravens as a motivational tool. The 'lucky enough to win' portion will be omitted, and the entire topic will be overblown as 'those arrogant pieces of crap', etc.

In my opinion I have no problem whatsoever with the team making plans ahead of time in regards to a potential trophy presentation should they win.

However, what I truly do not understand is why they would allow for that information to be made public ahead of time. There's really no upside, and there is a rather potentially big downside.

Poor decision to talk about it publicly in my opinion.

John Harbaugh would be lying to his team if he presented this as a sign of over confidence. They shouldn't put to much stock in words like "if" and "lucky" from someone not coaching or playing in the game, IMO.

This team and coach have been nothing but genuinely respectful and humble all week long. They know it's going to be a tough battle to be decided on the field. Fooling themselves into believing a mentality exists that clearly doesn't sounds like a recipe for disaster but that's just my perspective.

18 years ago, Kraft saved the franchise from moving to St. Louis. It's brought us 3 Super Bowl championships, 5 AFC championships, 11 division titles, and many incredible memories. He's one of the biggest reasons this season happened in the first place, and it's all in honor of his departed wife Myra. Even though his announcement was NOT presumptuous or disrespectful, the man can still say whatever the hell he wants. Anyone who is quick to take his words out of context, owes him the benefit of the doubt.

And Bledsoe trips over his own feet on his way to the podium and tosses the trophy to the the Ravens.

It reminds me of BB using the Eagles planned parade route for motivation before the Superbowl. I don't like this stuff....it feels presumptuous.

You can't tell me that you don't think Boston didn't have a parade route planned in 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2007. Hell, they may have even had one planned for 2006 and this year.

These things are logistical nightmares to do an require weeks of preparation. The Superbowls venues are decided years in advance because they literally take that long to prepare the cities (not saying the parades are on the same level, but the idea is the same).

Edit: I don't like these things being public either, but they do exist. Although, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think this one could have been more "special" if Kraft waited until the game was over to surprise Drew, and done something like "Drew, I want you to be the one to present this trophy to the team" after we've won it.

I understand that people think this is being way overblown, and it probably is.

On the other hand, even the seemingly most innocuous sh!t can be used as bulletin board material, especially by a team as proud as the Ravens. Look at how the Jets rallied around their idiot coach last year after Welker poked a little fun at him.

Bad move by Kraft. It also seems sort of disrespectful to Brady in a weird way.

You think that had more to do with the Jets rallying than Brady throwing a should-have-been pick 6 on a screen and Crumpler dropping a TD?

If you're on my team and need this announcement to get motivated to play in the final game before the Super Bowl I'd probably cut you on the spot. You shouldn't be in a competitive sport.

Edit: Lol, how is this disrespectful of Brady?

What??????? Kraft said this? LUCK ???? WTF does luck have to do with this game?

HOLY SH!T.......... BOB KRAFT HAS NO FAITH IN THIS TEAM AND THINKS WE CAN ONLY WIN IF WE HAVE LADY LUCK ON OUR SIDE.

We're DOOOOOOOOOOMED I tell you.

Jesus, this game can't come fast enough.

What an idiotic post. So you're basically saying that bulletin board material has no effect on games like this because the players are professionals? Lol.

Regarding your question, Drew is the anti-Brady: highly sought golden boy coming out of college, had such a cannon arm and natural ability that he never really had to (or cared to) work hard on the little things. Gunslinger mentality that made him hard to coach. Implicit in Kraft's announcement is that the franchise owes a great deal of its success to this guy.
