We all have been hearing how the Ravens D will focus on Gronk/Hernandez and Welker and have one man coverages on the outside WR's.

How about the Pats throw off the Ravens and actually THROW one to our 3rd TE - Nate Solder?

He originally WAS a TE. He's played blocking TE this year several times and actually DID release into the secondary a few times - - Brady just hasn't thrown to him.

Do that successfully and the Ravens will have another thought to contend with.

This is a play I would practice this week. I wouldn't put it past McDaniels to whisper this into BOB's ear.

I also thought BB may be planning this.

Another thing.

Bill may have Hernandez again in the backfield threatening run but he'll be throwing a pass to a wide open Branch/ Ocho if it's there.

All of our receivers and TEs make plays outside the hashmarks at all levels.

Re: The Early ChangeUp Play That Could Throw Off Balto's D

Solder did have an impressive college career as a receiver. He did have only three catches for 50 yards for his entire career as a TE, but that was a 16.7 yards per catch. That is better than Gronk this year. Gronk only had a measly 14.7 yards per catch. Solder is a much better receiver than Gronk based on the numbers. :D

Re: The Early ChangeUp Play That Could Throw Off Balto's D

Former college QB Edelman takes the ball on an end around, stops, throws down field to a wide open Hernandez/Branch/Welker.

Pats will have a few new wrinkles to throw at the Ravens D for sure. One has to wonder what new wrinkle the Ravens are cooking up. Some form of wildcat with Rice? Whatever it is, let's hope the Pats have seen something similar and know how to adjust and stop it.

Keeping Brady upright is paramount .... short passes and running plays is one way to do this early....

Absoultely right, good point. I edited my post.

Re: The Early ChangeUp Play That Could Throw Off Balto's D

1. TE screen - with Solder
2. BJGE (on left or right) bunched 4 - in motion - fake WR screen - RB screen on the other side
3. Double TE reverse
4. Is polite still on the team? Maybe some plays for him?

Re: The Early ChangeUp Play That Could Throw Off Balto's D

they will not have that many "gadget" plays they have all the advantages vs their secondary why put too much extra in there

Kind of a high risk, low reward play. A pass bouncing off an OTs hands for an Int doesnt seem worth the risk comparing to gained a few yards.
I don't think throwing to Solder once is going to change what the Ravens will do on defense. I think, in fact, they would like us to do it.

Conversely what if the ravens come out spread the field in no huddle and start throwing.? Iam sure that would throw us off too...

Maybe, but this thread is about our O and their D.

Start your own thread buddy. :D Just kidding.

And what if Nate Solder fumbles on the catch?:snob: A game of this magnitude is too great to take such chances...I really love Solder at RT he 's having what should have been Pro Bowl year there.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this play in the superbowl, but only in a goal line situation.

I've noticed Edelman is showing up on offense more lately. Definitely setting something like this up.
