Would be better if you didn't provide the link. I won't click to avoid giving that rubbish another hit.

Sunday’s AFC Championship contest is soaked in the white-black racial component that has driven American sports passion at least since Jack Johnson whipped James J. Jeffries.

Um ... what?

I respect that. That's certainly your choice.

We should really start to let African Americans play on this team. Damn racists!

Ravens-Patriots is ultimate culture clash - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

In this article, Whitlock paints the Pats as the bad guys in this, cites officiating being in the Pats favor as the reason for Baltimore's regular season losses, drudges up Spygate, and plays the race card. Happy hunting!

Why's the article so bad? Officiating did play a role in our loss, in a couple of our games -- not using that as an excuse, but it played a factor.

I wont get into Spygate or any racial topics...

Whitlock not having a damn clue but playing the race card anyway, surely you jest:rolleyes:

I love how he talks about the refs favoring the Patriots as well as "rule-bending" but doesnt cite a specific example, I'd seriously like to d!ck-punch that idiot.

White coach v. Black coach.... nope
White QB v. Black QB..... nope
White RB v. Black RB.... nope
White defense v. Black defense.... nope
All white receivers v. All black receivers.... nope
All white TEs v. All black TEs.... nope

At this point, one has to ask what the hell Whitlock is smoking.

Go troll somewhere else.

Whitlock, just like most of the other 'personalities' that serve to fill up time on bspn on the various bspn entertainment shows in the hours between the morning SportsCenter and the early evening SportsCenter, probably can't even remember half the BS he spews on a daily basis.

He says stuff to stir the pot in order to get people to repeat what he says - and it works. Gullible people believe him because he acts so very seriously while doing it.

And one of his favorite go-to methods of doing so is by using the race card.

Look, this is a guy that insisted the Patriots should sign Jeff George when Brady went on IR in 2008.

He - and all of the very many others that fill in bspn's afternoon programming - should never be taken seriously. Whitlock, Bayless, Parker, Paige, Kornheiser and all their colleagues are clowns, but instead of being dressed up in a clown suit they wear a suit and tie. The only credit Whitlock deserves is that he pulls the act of magnificently, because after all these years so many for some reason still take his act seriously.

not saying i appreciate the divisive talk in this article but to an extent he has a point. most of NE's stars are white, Baltimore's are black. Boston is perceived among many members of black America to be a bit of a racist city when it comes to sports, Baltimore is 2/3 black. (Sox were the last team in baseball to allow black players, etc). I do see shades of Magic/Bird here....which incidentally wasn't a bad dynamic, sports has in many ways been an arena where America confronts issues of race, often in my opinion to good effect. If we're looking at strength vs. strength in this game, NE's O vs Balt's D, there is a subtext and culture clash whether you want to admit it or not. I've had this thought this week even before reading this article.

Fact is a lot of the people on this board have been calling Baltimore's players "thugs" all week....I see where that comes in with Ray Lewis, but when it comes to Suggs its a pretty racially charged term that I've found a little sketchy.

I don't like Whitlock and him dredging up spygate is pretty irritating, but I don't find this article to be as outrageous as some of you.

Whitlock: 9 black defenders for the Ravens. 7 (8 if you count Hernandez) white offensive players for the Patriots. Let the race wars begin!

What drivel.

No, he doesn't have a point.

Whitlock sees race in everything. It is written into his DNA. It is part of his excuse-o-meter. Maybe Jason, people don't like the Ravens BECAUSE THEIR LEADER ACTUALLY KILLED SOMEONE!!!!

Funny how he mentions Spygate, yet fails to mention that Ray Lewis at the very least knows who murdered a NFL fan at the Superbowl and was convicted of interfering with a Police investigation, let alone the fact that Lewis may have actual murdered the guy.

No mention of that, yeah but it is all about race....

What "shades" of Bird/Magic do you see here??? Ravens and Ray Lewis have no rivalry with the Patriots. They have one win in history against Brady. Ravens have a rivalry with the Steelers, Pats have rivalries with the Jets and Colts (while Peyton was playing). Comparing the Ray Lewis/Tom Brady relationship, to the extent there is one, to Magic/Bird is ridiculous.

strong argument.
