Following Tomlinson's remarks on Inside the NFL, I went over to the Jets Insider Board. The entire board is ready to blow up!! Thread after thread of hand wringing and angst. If it's not Ryan it's Sanchez. If not Sanchez it's Holmes..on n on...
We've been damn fortunate to have a TEAM that for the past decade has provided all us with quality competition and always the highest level of professionalism. Of course, in 10 years there'll be bumps (ughh the Colts and Giants loss) but just glancing at the Jets board..it put a :) on my face. I know, I shouldn't :D over the suffering of others...But it does feel GREAT!!

The cherry on top is the Patriots winning the superbowl. My fiance's best friend, she is a jets fan and she said she hates all the teams playing right now and would root for the Patriots if they make it to the superbowl :D

We all knew this would happen sooner or later to them. Maybe not a meltdown to that extent but you knew all their **** would blow up once the luck/winning stops.

Here are some tidbits from Gang Green:

-Manish Mehta is a former popular beat writer who has turned to the "dark side." He fabricated an article with fake quotes from fake players that criticized Mark Sanchez. Manish is just an attention seeker and should be banned from covering the Jets.

-Brian Scottenheimer was the root of all evil and a 20 ton weight on Sanchez's wrist. Now that he's gone and Sparano is in, you can expect Sanchez to put up Brady numbers in 2012.

-LaDanian Tomlinson is a traitor, jerk, and jealous punk who is mad about his playing time this year and decided to trash the team.

-Greg McIlroy stepped out of line in criticizing the team and should be cut. He made up the criticism for attention and hope that he would be the starter next year.

-Dustin Keller stinks. If only Sanchez had Gronk or Hernandez, this offense would be top 5.

-Everything is fine in Jets world and couldn't be better. This is just an overblown story, when in fact the Jets are secretly planning to take the league by storm next year.

-THE BEST ONE. The Jets will sign Matt Flynn to BACKUP Mark Sanchez.

You saw this implosion coming all the way back to Hard Knocks last year. You saw the Jets' coaching staff coddle Sanchez. You saw Ryan joke with Jason Taylor for showing up late to their version of the season ticket holders' practice. You saw Ryan allow his players to bring McDonalds onto the field. You saw then entire team playing with Shake Weights during practice.

This year, Santonio Holmes calls out Sanchez and the o-line to the media early in the season and then I think it was Matt Slausson fired back to the media. Instead of disciplining both players, he gave Slausson a captain title.

The Rex Ryan player coach style of coaching has a relatively short shelf life. You don't give your team any discipline and fingers start to get pointed in a hundred directions when things go bad.

Also, their style of getting "talent" over character is coming back to bite them. Belichick rarely goes after bad character guys unless he does his homework (Moss, Dillon) to make sure that they will buy the Patriot Way, but when he does get one he will jettison them quickly rather than let them infect the lockerroom (Haynesworth, AD, Springs, Bodden, Moss) no matter how bad it looks. I could easily see Belichick jettisoning Holmes if he was Ryan's/Tannebaum's situation, but I don't see the Jets doing that.

I love how they turned on Mehta after one article which hasn't really been disputed except for the "Sanchez is lazy" thing that is disputed out of context and most people actually agree with the quote that Sanchez is being coddled and needs to be pushed which is what the lazy comment was all about.

.

"Thrifty" Scot here. I would gladly pay HBO's fees plus a premium were the 2012 Jets featured on Hard Knocks. It would be epic.

Yeah, I was over there too reading all the angst they are putting out. It just won't stop, it's revelation after revelation, player after player opening their mouths as wide as they can.

Blame begins at the top, with the GM and the head coach. Seems to me that Tanny and Rex have a great deal to answer for, considering the season they dialed up for their fans, not to mention the lack of future they will have for several years. Oivey what a mess.

Love reading the turnaround their fans are having though. All the swagger is gone, all the trash talk. Now it's weeping and second guessing and one set of fans backing up Holmes and another set of fans backing up the anti-Holmes faction. Lots of dissatisfaction with Sanchez as well. Until December of this year, they loved Sanchez, now he's a bum and many want him traded. Won't happen this year.

Thanks for saving me the time to read. Frankly, I am sick of the Jets and don't plan to read about them much until next season. They are done and we don't have to think about them until September, 9 mos. from now. Yay!!

I mentioned it in one of the other threads, but LdT coming out with this info seems to have been a tipping point. Ryan is finally getting some legitimate heat, where before it was mostly outliers railing against him. The same is true of Tannenbaum, and Sanchez is now losing the fan base as well as the locker room.

If that team starts slowly next season, we could see an implosion that lasts months.

The reason they are the SOJ's is that nothing is going to change until they realize that the chain of command extends beyond the GM and whatever HC gets hired to sell PSL's and reinflate deflated fan egos after all attempts to unseat the NEP fail. The buck stops with Woody Johnson, and as long as he cares more about winning the battle for relevance on the back pages of those rags the NY/NJ media churn out than building a sustainable organization top to bottom they will remain the SOJ's. That's why Bill ran screaming from them. And he don't run from much... They are all bluster and bravado and sizzle that fizzles in an inevitable sea of backstabbing and fingerpointing. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Has Santonio set the record or the fastest to ever become a malcontent after getting a bank-breaking contract? There are definitely a few that definitely rank up there with him (Haynesworth with the Redskins), but even AD was okay (by all outside indications) for the first year or two after his payday.
