I don't know if this has already been posted if so mod's please merge.

NFL Videos: Joe Flacco: "I don't care. I'll be wearing a ring"

I don't know about the rest of you but i think this guy is an idiot. saying stuff like "we're going to win this game then go to Indianapolis then win there too", "this isn't a do or die i mean i don't think this will be my last chance at this game" e.t.c

I just think that is one of the worst pre game interviews you can do. God i hope we beat them this week.

Flacco just wants attention.

A few weeks ago he was crying about Tebow getting press and him not, last week he was upset that he wouldn't get credit if they beat the Texans.

Who cares?? I'm glad he isn't my QB.

The guy obviously has low self esteem.

I think that was kind of an odd edit. It's not clear from the context why he was talking about having a ring.

"So the media moved on to wondering if Flacco might start getting some respect from fans and the media if he and the Ravens 'finally' (our quote, because it's amusing that there's some desperation involved in a four-year stint as a starting quarterback) won a Super Bowl with him under center.

'I don't care,' the mustachioed Flacco said. 'I'll be wearing a ring and we'll holding a trophy and the perception probably won't change but it doesn't really matter.'"

Joe Flaccid hates himself more than I do!

I really wish he would trim his eyebrow.

Pretty sure it was in response to a reporter asking about reed's criticism. Context or not. You can't argue that that's stuff you want your quarter back saying in a pre game interview before a big game.

The most dumbfounding thing for me is him saying that he doesn't view this game as do or die and that he believes he'll be here many times in the future. As a coach i would be pissed to hear a player say that before a legitimately "do or die" playoff game.

Uh I'm pretty sure I can argue as I please ;)

haha fair enough... argue away

Ok :)

As far as mentioning rings go, if you read the link I posted it was a hypothetical. So all Flacco was really saying was, assuming the hypothetical was true that he'd won a super bowl, he wouldn't care about the stats or what people were saying or whatever.

And really, you can parse just about any interview you want and come up with some kind of negative way of viewing what is said. I think the thrust of what he was saying is that his job description really doesn't involve putting up big numbers. You watch enough Ravens games and this is not a guy who is asked to do anything like what Brady does. He is expected to make safe, low-percentage throws and throw a bomb every now and again that only the receiver can catch. Not a lot of throws into the middle or into coverage.

That is surely a reflection on Flacco to some degree, but it is also a reflection of the Ravens' philosophy for winning football games.

No. It was already past the Reed question. It was regarding general media perception of him and whether he still thought it would be bad. So again, the guy responded to a question very normally but again you all and this video have managed to take it out of context.

If your plan is to defend a Raven every time they say something immature, stupid, insecure, or just generally jackassy, you might want to take a leave of absence from your day job.

That you in the avatar?

I tried to get a picture of your mom, but she had to be on stage.*

*We get this out of our systems now?

Flacco's comments a few weeks ago were taken totally out of context. He was 100% joking with the local press. There's no whine with that guy. Say what you will about his qb skills or his unibrow, but he is as tough and as low maintenance as they come.

You guys can parlay what he's saying if you wish and i am sure he meant it to be not a big deal. The problem is instead of him saying "insert generic the pats will be tough we will have to play hard" comment in here. He is standing there talking about how it's hard for him to view this game as a do or die and he expects to play for another 15 years so he will have another chance.

I don't see why you guys think that's a good look for the offensive leader of your team.

Well hey. I hear ya. He's a fourth year guy, becoming more outspoken and he probably has some things to learn about the difference between perception and reality.

By the same token, I think it's fair to point out that fans can have some incredibly strong biases and only see things through their own filter. When you watch the *entire* video and realize he was responding to a hypothetical about winning the super bowl with respect to the comments in question, I really think this whole thing has been way overinflated.
