don't laugh....they are more similar statistically than different.....many aspects are near identical.

flacco is pretty equal to sanchez
ray rice = shonn greene + LT

rushing defenses are close
passing defenses are identical except number of sacks

both were atrocious on the road...the difference really boils down to the ravens being 6-0 in their division and the jets 3-3 in theirs

I think the ravens chances all boils down to their pass rush.....they don't have a chance if they can't get to brady often

Hmmm...I think Rice is better than LT+Greene and by a wide margin. But to your point the Jets Receivers are better than the Ravens.

Also the Jets would have been 5-1 but they played NE 2x!! YEAH BABY.

Overall I see where you're coming from.

No way. Ravens are head and shoulders better then the Jets in almost all aspects of the game except corner. The only similarity is defensive scheme.

sorry..but i am going to laugh...LOL

in terms of production, LT + SG = RR

in teresting that the jets pass defense was equal to that of the ravens while getting 15 fewer sacks.....and still having 5 more ints

even time of possession was the same......

I think its simply a matter of how the Pats D handles Ray Rice and Antwan Boldin...both are game changers.

3 elements to a win over Baltimore

1) Keep Rice from dominating at the LOS and under 75 Yards for the game
2) Double team Boldin because I don't think Torrey Smith is all that good and it gets worse from there and there is no more dangerous TE to worry about as it was with Heap
3) Its the OL that is key, slow down the Ravens fierce pass rush

They're not a carbon copy but the styles and issues are very similar -- a point I've made in other threads. Ball-control offense with an erratic quarterback that relies on the running game and an opportunistic defense to give them short fields, a balky offensive line, good wide receivers that are underutilized, etc., etc. Their fans even hate the OC and want him out.

There are similarities, particularly on defense. Both defenses beat up on terrible offenses to make them look statistically better than they are.

But Flacco is medicore at best, but still much better than Sanchez, and the OL and Rice is a substantialy better running game.

The Ravens are the Jets but with a better, yet still not so good offense.

Flacco is better than Sanchez

Rice is better than Greene/LT

Hali Ngata and Suggs are both better than the Jets equivalent. I think Ngata is the big worry for me, particulaly given mankins gimpy knee.

Webb is not as good as Revis particularly given the amount of holding Revis gets away with as upposed to every other corner in the league.

Ravens have been a Jeckle and Hyde team. Here's hoping the Pats get the team that showed up in San Diego, Jacksonville and Seatle. If that team shows up the Pats win going away.

If Pats get the team that showed up against the 49ers and Steelers then it will be a tough close game provided the Pats also show up. (To the Pats credit, even in their losses they have been more consistant than the Ravens and could have won any of the three losses.)

I hear you on production but Rice is just a game breaker and can do both. He is way better. I get what you are saying though. Ravens have rice and Smith as true game breakers and Boldin is not even close to what he once was. The Jets have Greene, Holmes, Burress and a very old LT. I actually fear Sanchez a bit more than Flacco because Sanchez is mobile.

Also, Revis is just fantastic, the best Defensive player in the league. The Ravens have nothing even close to that. Ed Reed three years ago, maybe.

But the Jets also have a douche bag for a HC. Harbaugh is much more level headed.

I just think that as with the jets last year, the ravens were better able to survive flacco's incompetence from time to time.

The Ravens have a coach that is a jerk but does not make a flashy show in front of a national media base......Rex Ryan is Hollywood

The Ravens to me are a very tight team and have several players who are team leaders as in Lewis,Reed and Suggs......the Jets have no leadership.

The Ravens have a QB that manages the game well.....Sanchez manages to give the game away.

The Ravens have a team that plays 60 minutes often and shows in its 13-4 record....the Jets play a portion of games and mail it in at the end and were 8-8.

Enough said, there are few comparisons I can think of.

The Ravens are closer to the Steelers in comparison than to the Jets IMO

The Ravens and the Jets will watch the Super Bowl on TV.

I know the Raven's are our oppenant and all. So we are suppose to disrespect them, etc.

But there are certain things that are just below the belt and uncalled for in any situation. And comparing anyone of the 31 respectable NFL teams to the Jets in any manner or fasion is rude beyond comprehension.

If Ireland who asked a potential draftee if his mother was a hooker would never stoop so low as to compare an another NFL team to the Jets.

On behalf of the entire Patriots fan base I appoligize to any Raven fans who saw this horrible display of disrespect towards your beloved team.

Really, the Jets. Man that is cold. Shame on you.

I think it's been mentioned a few times in the media that the Ryan-Ravens style of defense has proven the most difficult for Brady (Gasper points out that TFB's completion % is lowest against the Raven of any other opponent).

By now you have to think the Pats and Brady have faced this style enough over the years and recently (beating Jets twice and Cowboys once in 2011) that they have developed some solutions and maybe have some surprises to counter it.

Edit: Looks like PatsFanKen and Jays52 are leading a Master Class on how the Pats offense can beat the Ravens here.

I agree with the OP.

The only way this game will be close is if the Ravens can disrupt the passing game by getting pressure on Brady. I don't think they can lock down Welker, Gronk and Hernandez, you run out of people trying to double up all those guys.

If they can get pressure on Brady though it will be close. The Ravens will have to play a lot better than they did against the Texans where they were spotted a bunch of TOs and only won by a single score.

The Ravens will score between 17-24 points. If they get a lot of pressure/TOs that will be enough. If they don't it won't be.

Defensively I think the Ravens and Jets are very different teams. Chuck Pagano is the first Ravens coordinator in a while that isn't from the "lets blitz 5-6 people every down" school of thinking. They do a good job of getting pressure with 4-5 and I think Suggs and Johnson are a huge upgrade over Pace and Thomas. This Ravens D is quite a bit better than the Jets.

We'll agree to disagree. The Jets have Revis, who is a scary beast in terms of his shut down and play making ability.

Flacco is easily better than Sanchez (which isn't saying much)
Rice is easily better than the Jets backs, one of the best backs in the game.
Ravens WR's > Jets WR's
Ravens pass rush > Jets pass rush
Ravens run D > Jets run D
Ravens vet leadership > Jets vet leadership (again not saying much and far from perfect but they are)
