Re: pats to have 4 captains on sun from 1996 afc championship team

mods feel free to move my post since there was another post ,on the same subject at the same time...

Ben Coates? Though he did win a ring with the Ravens...

Sam Gash? He won a ring with the Ravens too, IIRC.

Slade, McGinnist, Johnson, Milloy, Armstrong...so many names to choose from. Gotta get Big Play Willie Clay in there too!

Picking players that have not been mentioned that do not have rings but have made great contributions to the franchise

Shawn Jefferson
Chris Slade
Bruce Armstrong
Curtis Martin

i picked those 4 .. because they still are around and on tv... i would have picked adam v.. but dont think that would go over welll... but i know people think bledsoe but he did his due week in boston... with the pats hall of fame ceremony i dont think he would come back...

My choices for the 4

Troy Brown (already confirmed)
Bruce Armstrong (didn't get a ring so '96 season extra special for him)
Willie McGinest (lone Pro Bowler on defense that year)
Ty Law (going to sign a one-day contract and retire a Patriot at some point)

Here are some alternatives:

Drew Bledsoe (recently inducted to Patriots HOF)
Tedy Bruschi (fan favorite)
Ben Coates (less likely given his SB ring was with our opponent)
Lawyer Milloy (been out of football for a year, may have cooled down his grudge)
Dave Meggett (only put this here to see if you were paying attention, lol)
Ted Johnson (could use some extra Pats love after concussion-filled career)
Adam Vinatieri (a real wildcard here, especially given that he's still under contract with the MF'ing Colts)
Curtis Martin (a stud but he left for the Rats shortly after and spent the rest of his career there)
Bill Parcells (does it have to be a player? Maybe he and Kraft buried the hatchet, making for a special reunion)

Here's my elite four from the '96 team....

Bledsoe
Coates
Martin
Brown

How much impact did Bruschi have in that season?

More than Troy Brown did.

I would go with

Brown

and 3 of the following
Martin
Drew
Willie Mac
Law
Milloy
Slade
Coates
Bruschi

Even though it's more from the 2001-04 run I hope Brown somehow incorporates Bingo into it. If he speaks something like we're going to get bingo again and if he's just on the field a sign simply saying Bingo would get the crowd to erupt and set the tone.

I hope Bledsoe is one of them. The other 2 I would be happy with just about anyone. Law, Bru, Willie Mac, TJ, Milloy, Bruce, how about OTIS.

Pretty much anybody but David Meggett, Terry Glenn, and maybe Vinatraitor will get the juices flowing.

Jesus I can't wait for Sunday, this alone is going to be incredible.

Any of the above would be good.

I'd love for Milloy to do it. I think it would mean more to him than to most.

It's not Milloy. Already said as much on Twitter.

Bruce Armstrong really should be one of them

Since Bruschi still lives in the area, I'd say he's a good bet. Same with Law who has a Sunday Night gig with Comast Sports.

I wouldn't be shocked if CuMart was one of them. I don't think he should be at all - but he did attend Myra's service and it appeared that he did have a bond with her. Kraft's sentiments could over-ride logic here.

Interesting idea, is this common? Never heard of bringing back honorary captains before.
