The only thing that could possibly erase 2007....

Go Patriots, Go Niners.

I do not want to see, for 2 weeks of Super Bowl hype, constant replays of the lowlights of that game, the helmet catch, Asante's drop, interviews with Tyree showing what he is up to now (probably flipping burgers somewhere), more references to spygate, talk about the Mannings, etc.

DO
NOT
WANT

Let the mediots focus on the return of the 49ers, the fact that Brady grew up a Niners fan, that Brady is trying to eclipse Montana's number of wins.

No helmet catches, no references to spygate, no mention of any Manning at all

I wish more fans here could somehow find a way to wrap their minds around just how hard it is to even get there. Or to even get to where you can get to there from. And appreciate it.

The last 4 years the Giants have been flailing at times. NO despite the Brees hype can't get past one and done. The Packers peaked to soon and faced no adversity and rested into rust once again underscoring how hard it is to even get a shot at repeating. The Steelers are entering their flailing period. Indy got back in 3 and has now disintegrated. Baltimore hasn't had a whiff in a decade. For the JETS it's been 4...decades.

Yet here all we hear is ease my pain... From a fanbase that's become too impatient and entitled to appreciate the journey. Twelve years of consistent contention and counting. Knock us down and we get back up and compete again. In a 32 team league top 12 ten out of twelve, top 8 half of the time, top 4 six of the twelve, top 2 four out of twelve and counting. Yet the focus here is persistently is on the agony of defeat. Instead of the wonder of the Patriots ever becoming a franchise for the ages led by an owner to die for and two potential GOATs at the QB and HC position.

Ian should scour the internet for a violinist smilie...

Exquisite.

As a person I have absolutely no regard for you, Bledsoe's Near Death Celebrator ~ And don't bother trying to defend that, because it's indefensible.

But you are an awfully good FootBall writer...and this one was prose.

*In case anyone's wondering: Mo's the kind of guy who "1 Stars" another guy's thread, out of spite.

Seriously!! :singing:

And he's also the kind of guy who celebrates Bledsoe's near death with every single post.

He chose that name.

Nice.

But I refuse to lower myself to that level: I always give the Devil his due.

And this post was one of many greats.

Feel free to declare that you couldn't care less what I think, Mo, old kid, even though we both know you seek out and viciously attack my Threads. I, as always, won't be bothered reading your response on this Thread, either...But I'll look forward to you next post, elsewhere!! :D

I love Mo's post too, but one thing: why do I keep seeing that NO was one and done? They did win last week.last year they were definitely one and done.

My reference was to one and done as superbowl contenders.

It would be cool if Brady played against his former favorite team in the Superbowl.

I'll take a Super Bowl win, I don't care who they beat. Beating the '11 Giants doesn't make up for that loss, nothing really does. You can't change history. Winning the SB against ANYBODY would make me feel better.

I disagree you will be able to tell your grandchildren the giants took out our perfect season with less than 2 minutes to go.. but we got revenge on them a few seasons later back in 2011!

A bit of poetic Justice. The stars are all aligning for the Patriots. Unfortunately I don't believe in fate so they have to earn it and you have to say they are the favorites now.

I don't want the Giants one bit, but think that's what we will end up with IF we win at the weekend. The Giants have a QB who has come on leaps and bounds this year...we kept him relatively quiet in the game we lost back in the regular season but I don't think it's much of a brainer when you have a choice between having to face Smith or Eli!

Although you could argue the niners secondary that goes with their pass rush is pretty hot right now....at least with the Giants you risk being caught in a shootout if the rush can't get there...OI may change my mind before the week is done!

EDIT: That didn't take long, I changed my mind. Bring on the G-Men :D

I'd rather have SF. Giants are a better offensive team , IMO.

First off... Nothing will ERASE that loss....... It would hopefully wall it off into the dark recesses of my brain, but it won't ever completely go away.

That said..... I'm kinda in a quandary right now. Certainly not overlooking the Ravens and we have our work cut out for us, but if we were fortunate enough to make it beyond them and into the big show.... I'm not sure who I'd rather see.

The football fan in me says that the 49ers are probably a better team then the Giants. Their defense is better and they are every bit a potent offensively as the Giants are. So logic tells me that we should probably rather face the Giants then the 49ers.

With that says, we just never seem to match up well against the Giants and I would dread facing them again. So, the opportunity to "revenge" and old loss comes with the possibility of doubling the pain of it if we lost all over again.

Not a pretty picture.

A superbowl championship is a superbowl championship go niners. I live in Albany I couldn't show my face if the pats lost to the giants again

I don't want the Giants in the SB,I want them to lose this week.

Why? Because I hate them and have for over 40 years, that's why.

I hate even talking about this because we have our hardest game of the year coming up this weekend and they certainly will not be a push over. That said, when it comes to 2007 NOTHING will erase it except a perfect season. We could beat the Giants in the next 5 straight Superbowls and those idiots could still say "we still ruined your perfect season" and they'd be right, it might sting less, but they'd be right. So with that in mind when it comes to playing the Giants, Do.Not.Want. If we are fortunate enough to be in the Superbowl I do not want to play them not because I dont think we can win but because I do not want 2 solid weeks of Tyree, Boston vs New York, the New York media, Spygate, 18-1, etc. I'd like to be able to actually enjoy the damn build up. I'd much prefer it to be Brady vs his childhood team, an old dynasty returns to the Superbowl vs the modern day dynasty, etc. you know, happy stories. And if we lost to the Niners, so be it. If we lost to the Giants I'd want to eat a bullet.

Nothing will ever erase the hurt of 42 for me. Winning another Superbowl will help ease the pain.

With Kontra though, would prefer to do a number on the Ravens before projecting ultimate success.

I can't agree more with this statement. "We are just trying to get ready for Baltimore" BB would likely say.

having said that, '07 was like someone died. I mourned for the loss of immortality for the Pats. Beating the Giants would not undo the damage....It would sure help though.

Let's deal with the Ravens and then worry about it.

Beating anyone would help ease the pain. All I want is for the Pats to win the Superbowl so I don't have to listen to another moron ask me what they've won since Spygate (I mean except more games than any other team in the league.)

I wish.

Nothing will erase it, we were on the brink of history, and blew it. Sure, it would be amazing to win, and it might make us feel a little better. But I will never get over that game.

Would be a rematch with the Giants and winning. I know we run the risk of losing to them again but the hurt, pain and anguish of 2007 can only be erased by one thing - beating the NY Giants in the SuperBowl.

I would rather play the Niners but man, oh man, can you imagine if we take revenge for the 2007 loss. We gotta face the demons once again and defeat them. Then we will be cleansed of the 2007 tragedy and Tyree's catch will be finally put to bed....

Nothing can erase that loss. Nothing. Why? Because the Pats had the opportunity to go 19-0, something that has never been done before.

Don't get me wrong, it would be very sweet to win the SB this year and, in the process, knock off the Giants. It would be great revenge and all that. But it can never take away that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Pats team had.

But hey, that's long since over, and all you can do is focus on this year. While nothing can erase that 2007 finish, who cares? If they win the SB this year, I'll be very happy!

You don't erase 2007, because it will always be there. You win and move on from it.

... and the win doesn't have to be against the Giants.

I wish.

Nothing will erase it, we were on the brink of history, and blew it. Sure, it would be amazing to win, and it might make us feel a little better. But I will never get over that game.

No kidding. Am I the only one who would be pining for the five Superbowls we should have had if we win it this year? Add the 19-0 never been done thing and we are the GOAT without question.

I agree to a point. It can't be erased and shouldn't be. It's part of the whole unbelievable run we've been so lucky to have been a part of. Win or lose, you can't really move on unless you're a robot. I don't believe Brady has "moved on" from that deafeat, and most fans haven't, either. You eat it, and make it part of the whole experience. It just makes winning better, at least for me as a fan.

Giants won't get past the Niners, either. The GB defense was horrible and Eli beating them was no great feat. They now have to travel to SF and beat a great D. Brady could but Eli will be stopped, IMO. No comparison between the Packers and Niners D.

I could care less who we beat in the SB.
