Last year during the season I feared the Patriots were like the 1987 49ers, a dynasty that hadn't won a playoff game for a couple of years, retooled into a very young defense, and went 13-2 only to lose in the first round because they were too young. I wasn't shocked the Patriots lost early last year and hoped that this year they would fly under the radar like the '88 niners did, even have a worse record, yet go all the way. Just like this Patriots team the '88 Niners had a huge monkey on their backs. Despite having won two Super Bowls their fanbase was full of moron fans who were calling Walsh and Montana chokers because they had lost in the first round three years in a row. When they finally beat the Vikings in the divisional playoffs it seemed to release the whole team from all that pressure and they went on to trounce the Bears in Chicago to win the NFC Championship and went on to beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl. I get the feeling the 45-10 Patriots thrashing of Denver has taken a ton of pressure off the Patriots in the same way. I think they win big next week and its on the Super Bowl. A 4th title there and they take their place with the Packers, Steelers, and 49ers dynasties, and Belichick and Brady are considered the best ever.

sweeeeeeeeet...

I hope so. But we need to beat the Ravens before we worry about that, because that will be hard enough, and if we don't at least make it to the Super Bowl this year, it'll be looked back on as an enormous disappointment.

The job is one-third done, but it's a helluva lot more enjoyable right now than the few previous playoff campaigns.

If that D sticks around for another 2 matches then on my lord.

I've been saying for two years Belichick and the defense have been getting a bad rap in that their biggest problem has been they were so young they just needed time. Spikes. Cunningham. McCourtey. Chung. They are NFL babies.

If that's true then next year we will win the SB 55-10:D

The Patriots didn't have one passenger on D against the Broncos. I'd like to see that effort and execution against the Ravens. Flacco is easily bamboozled.

The 2011 Patriots are the 2011 Patriots. Sounds more real to me.

With NO and GB falling, my level of expectation is rising. They mustn't stall next weekend.

Whatever Leonard. Keep living in fantasy land. Maybe next year we will be the 85 Bears.

Im sorry historical perspective caused your butt to hurt. I didn't mean to confuse you. And if their young defense does keep getting better, maybe next year will be amazing.

It's not his fault his IQ is so high that it can't accurately be measured by standard tests. You know he isn't excellent at reading social queues.

lol..I love when fans try to use history as a way to link how the team will play...The Giants 2007..Ravens 2000...Sometimes it works sometimes it does not..We shall see..Even though I think the Pats are taking it!

HEY! Do not forget Ninkovich...

Absolutely.

As you're probably aware: I've been preaching this theme around here for a long time, now.

Hell, I just mentioned it this weekend: 3 straight 1 and Dones: JUST like the retooling Miners of the 80's.

And THEY were being described as Yesterday's News by most folks, TOO. :D

...Probably by a lot of their own fans, as well!!
