Just now on ESPN, said Josh McDaniels is expected to join Pats in next 24 hours and is expected to coach in the playoffs in some role.

Also BOB will stay as well in his usual role.

Can he coach defense?

Yep. Josh will be "OC-assistant"...

I was just coming to post this. They're saying he will join as an assistant coach and he will be with the team during the playoff run. That's pretty intriguing.

Josh lucked-out: No job, from loser Rams, to OC job with #1 AFC team...

HUMBLE PIE!

Great news! This will allow BOB to split time at his two jobs without overworking, and will allow McDaniels to get up to speed on the changes that have taken place in his absence.

Now, if he can just get Lloyd to come along next season.... :D

This is GREAT Saturday news. Love it when the team gets better during the week of their bye.

Josh on the sidelines next weekend is most awesome news!

maybe he could figure out how to use och-stink-o

As an aside, Schefter is also reporting that the Chiefs are expected to remove the "Interim" tag from Romeo, so congrats to him....

Yep. Classy guy, Romeo. I like him..

I just posted in the Lloyd thread that I think McD being back makes Lloyd a strong possibility now. I really think this bodes well for all hoping that Lloyd ends up in a Pat's uni. We'll see.

Lloyd is another one that needs a career reboot. Maybe with the fact that he is 31 next July and playing for 5 different teams during his career might want to settle into a stable, winning organization and leave a lasting impression on his career as a productive, team-player here.

Happy to see McDaniels back but I'm not sure what to make of both McDaniels and BOB on the sideline. Both are strong-willed and hot-headed and have different ideas about how to run offenses. I know McDaniels will be in an assistant capacity but in the heat of the game, will he feel impelled to speak up?

Yeah, I also saw this and it made me smile. The selfish me was hoping the Chiefs would look elsewhere so that maybe NE could lure him back as DC, but the other me is extremely happy for him. I'm hoping things go better for him this time around.

Amazing news!!! I don't want Tom Brady to have to conform to a new Coordinator w/ a different style. This ensures that Brady will not only be reunited with someone who he is familiar with, but also he will have only had 3 OC during his 13 year (counting 2012) career.

I really hope we pay McDaniels like a HC, keep him around for awhile, let him work closely under BB, and one day become his successor.

Someone HAS to photoshop BOB and McD into a highlander fight scene NOW!

That said, our offense has changed significantly since McD was last here, I'm hoping BOB still retains a strong hand through the postseason so McD isn't thrown right in to the fire.
